Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are not many medications that can be initiated in pregnancy, but you need to take certain precautions, - take proper care of your back, and maintain proper posrure while working, sitting etc - you can take tab paracetamol on sos basis for pain - ice packs at the site of pain and muscle spasm is also helpful - local analgesic spray like dynapar qps spray can be used for pain relief. - adequate calcium and vitamin d intake is also important in pregnancy and during lactation. Let me know on a scale of 1-10 how bad is your pain, and then lets see whether you require any supplementation or not. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Requires examination and investigation in detail. Presently investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d xray of the affected part. Anyway you may try sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform

. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Actual issue can only be told after an X ray. It could either be a sprain or some spinal problem. Till then you can do following home remedies:1) Mix camphor in coconut oil and boil it. Massage it followed by hot fomentation. 2) Have turmeric & honey milk. 3) Put a hot-water bag on back supported by a cushion. 4) Add ginger while brewing your tea 5) If u are overweight, go for weight loss program 6) Stay away from cold, go for hot water baths.

This can be due to few reasons 1. Simple muscle spasm 2. Due to disc herniation 3. Facetal arthropathy you can try simple analgesic with muscle relaxant and back strengthening exercises under guidance of a physio if that does not help you you can go ahead with mri lumbosacral spine if needed consult in private.

If you were younger I would have said knee replacement. But at your age it' s not an option. So. Ask your nearby orthopedic surgeon to give steroid injection in your knee. This will help in reducing the pain. You should also start physiotherapy.

Hello sir, since you were smoking for so long it becomes an habit and for anyone to break that habit would be difficult so it is just not you who is facing that difficulty. It is really great on your part that you stopped smoking and this craving on seeing a cigarette is common. So for that there are medicines to control that craving along with few counselling could also be given to build up your self-control. And for backache you should first go through physical examination and if those results are clear and shows no medical cause for that pain we can deal with that too. Hope you find my answer useful.

This is a painful condition of the elbow affecting children below the age of 5 years. It is caused by a pull on the arm with the forearm in a state of internal rotation. It is not the fall but the prevention of fall that causes the problem. Usually it occurs when the mother pulls the child by arm to put him on the other side while turning in bed. Sometimes when the child has a tendency to fall from the bed he, holds the bed sheet to prevent the fall, the whole body weight gives the momentum to internal rotation at the elbow joint and the upper/lower radio ulnar joint is partly dislocated.
It is a very painful condition the affected limb appears to be paralyzed
It is an orthopaedic emergency and the child should be taken to an orthopaedic surgeon or to the casualty department of a hospital immediately.
The x-ray usually does not show any abnormality.
Reduction of the joint displacement is easy. A cuff and collar sling is usually adequate.
If the condition becomes recurrent, a plaster may have to be applied for 2-3 weeks.
No medicine is required.
A chocolate is usually sufficient to bring a smile on the face of the child and parents.
