Hi thanks for your query. I am dr akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. That' s not good to hear, but you can do following things: 1) to turn in bed every 2 hours and not allow pressure to stay at one particular point for a long time 2) use of air mattress at home 3) high protein diet 4) there is a dressing which comes from smith & nephew which is very useful for this. Do not take too much stress Before sleeping do not take tea coffee or cold drinks Do relaxation therapy- close your eyes & contract & relax each joint of the body from head to toe Do meditation Listen to soft soothing music Take 1 cup of milk add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder to it & boil for 15min then keep it to cool & drink it before sleeping thrice a week

Please don't jump to surgery. Please take muscle relaxant and pain killer and do Physiotherapy. Back pain has many causes. The only indication for surgery with back pain is radiating pain down the legs, numbness or decreased sensation in legs or feet or muscle weakness or bowel or bladder disturbance. If you don't have any of the above please please avoid surgery. Please contact if you have any doubt or need to more details.

Neck advice hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Self massage the back of neck. Shoulder advice. Regular stretching of shoulder muscles. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation.

Dear Gaushick, apart from your tablet to reduce knee pain you can do knee strengthening excercises by lying flat on bed and raising straight up and bending the leg gently. if pain is more you can apply diclofenac ointment with heat therapy as well. with the help of excercises your knee pain will reduce and gains strength.

Causes and Symptoms of Neck Pain

Hi guys! I'm here to talk about neck pain today. Let me introduce myself. I'm Dr. Virmani.

I'm a Physio. I've been practicing for the last 20yrs. Many of our patients, when they come to us, quite often they complain about this Cervical Headache, or the pain originating from the head, from behind the neck and coming to the center of the head or coming to the sides of the head or sometimes they complain about burning sensation in the eyes.

You know what goes wrong? This is because of our sedentary lifestyle and the posture in which we are most of the times, that is, keeping the head bent, while on a laptop, on the mobile or on the tabloid we are keeping the neck in a bent position which leads to overstraining of the muscles behind the neck radiating the pain to the heads.

Now, there is a simple solution to it, what you can try at home is you can try massaging the back of the head and the neck area, that is, the area where the hairline stops. It is the connection between the neck and the head. You can just massage it with two fingers, massage it on both the sides. You can do this for almost two to three minutes twice a day and it'll give you good results.

Hello Sir / Madam I am 26 Year old, and I got rheumatoid arteries. So I got shocked and got so much body pain in my joints. I take complete treatment on it but now what happen my right shoulder get frozen, I can not move hand on upper side of my body from my shoulder. Right now I am doing regular exercise of rotating hands, move hand upward with the help of wall, and more that I got from youtube. But my question is that serious matter or it will get better with the help of exercise. While moving hand upward my whole base of shoulder get upward.

Hello. As we all know there are no such medicine for total cure of rheumatoid arthritis. There are medicine for the control of RA. You can have those medicine to control the effect of RA. That would be better if exercise can help you, you can continue the exercises but also medications. Take medicine after consulting the orthopaedics doctor only. DO exercise as much as you can without any pain.

According to ayurveda there are three doshas- vata, pitta, kapha. When these are in a balanced state we are healthy. Any imbalance in these three doshas leads to diseases in the body.

Vata resides in the colon and colon is therefore primarily responsible for all the vata disorders.

Vata imbalance in the skeletal system (asthi dhatu) causes osteoarthritis.
Vata imbalance with toxins (ama) causes rheumatoid arthritis.
Vata imbalance in blood (rakta dhatu) entering into bony tissue causes gout.

Massage with sesame oil to reduce the vata.

Digestion must be improved so that no further ama is produced. Fasting is very beneficial for digesting the ama. Duration of fasting depends upon the strength of the person, place and season.

Diet-
Consume the foods which are easily digestible and do not make wind or gas.
Vegetable juices and juice of carrot, beetroot and cucumber mixed together is also beneficial.
Green salad, fruits like apples, oranges, grapes and papaya can be taken.
Use of cumin, coriander, ginger, asfoetida, garlic, fennel and turmeric is also helpful.

Dont's-
Avoid eating hot, spicy and fried foods, sweets, wind forming foods like cabbage, cauliflower, spinach and potatoes should be prohibited.
Avoid taking too much tea, coffee, alcohol, white sugar, yogurt, chocolate and cocoa, excessive smoking.
Sleeping during day time, staying up late in the night and mental tensions like worry, anxiety, fear, stress and grief etc, should be given up.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. Advice her to take healthy food like vitamin e and a high amount of selenium, reishi mushroom. These foods are very essential need in diet for muscular dystrophy. Without complete information medicine advice is useless.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned backache as only problem. If you have only localized backache with no other associated symptoms like radiating leg pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will need to evaluate you further in form of dynamic x rays and if needed mri of your spine as your problem is a long standing one to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

I am a male, 32, blood group b+ve, weight 61 kg, height 5 feet, working in BPO mostly night shifts. I have high uric acid in my blood and have joint pain mostly in shoulder and knee joints. I smoke and drink regularly. Please suggest me a proper diet for weigh loss. I do not take any medicine. Can I take non veg regularly? Please also suggest how much water can I drink in a day as many people have told me to drink up to 2.5 litres of water a day, but, I feel more thirsty than that and consume more water. Is wheat made chopstick suitable for me or not as a friend told me not to eat chapati due to my blood group. I am concerned about the intake of water, chapati, rice and my diet. Please suggest.

Hello! to be fit take small n frequent healthy meal (5-6 meal a day). Stay away from preserved food, ready to eat foods, deep fried food, sugar n sweet items n do exercise for at least 30 min a day. You need to take care of is good quality protein. Try to take milk n products, egg whites, fish, lean chicken, dal n products etc. With complex carbohydrate n good quality fat (almond, walnut, peanut, flex seed, chia seed etc.) stay away from preserved food, ready to eat foods, deep fried food, excess sugar n sweet items.

Hand exercise dear you can do it easly…………1, Pinch Strengthener This exercise helps strengthen the muscles of your fingers and thumb. It can help you turn keys, open food packages, and use the gas pump more easily. •Pinch a soft foam ball or some putty between the tips of your fingers and your thumb. •Hold for 30 to 60 seconds. •Repeat 10 to 15 times on both hands. Do this exercise two to three times a week, but rest your hands for 48 hours in between sessions. Don't do this exercise if your thumb joint is damage Finger Lift Use this exercise to help increase the range of motion and flexibility in your fingers. •Place your hand flat, palm down, on a table or other surface. •Gently lift one finger at a time off of the table and then lower it. •You can also lift all your fingers and thumb at once, and then lower. •Repeat eight to 12 times on each han Thumb Extension Strengthening the muscles of your thumbs can help you grab and lift heavy things like cans and bottles. •Put your hand flat on a table. Wrap a rubber band around your hand at the base of your finger joints. •Gently move your thumb away from your fingers as far as you can. •Hold for 30 to 60 seconds and release. •Repeat 10 to 15 times with both hands.
