Heavy sweating (also known as hyperhidrosis) is a very real and embarrassing problem, but there are some effective ways to treat it. What Is Hyperhidrosis? Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a common disorder which produces a lot of unhappiness. An estimated 2-3% of people suffer from excessive sweating of the underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) or of the palms and soles of the feet (palmoplantar hyperhidrosis). Underarm problems tend to start in late adolescence, while palm and sole sweating often begins earlier, around the age 13 (on the average). Untreated, these problems may continue throughout life. Sweating is embarrassing, it stains clothes, ruins personal contact, and complicates business and social interactions. Severe cases can have serious practical consequences as well, making it hard for people who suffer from it to hold a pen, grip a car steering wheel, or shake hands. Causes OF Hyperhidrosis:- Although neurologic, endocrine, infectious, and other systemic diseases can sometimes cause hyperhidrosis, most cases occur in people who are otherwise healthy. Heat and emotions may trigger hyperhidrosis in some, but many who suffer from hyperhidrosis sweat nearly all their waking hours, regardless of their mood or the weather. Antiperspirants This may be the first treatment that a dermatologist recommends. It is affordable. When applied as directed, an antiperspirant can be effective. Your dermatologist may recommend a regular or clinical-strength antiperspirant. Some patients need a stronger antiperspirant and receive a prescription for one. Iontophoresis (the no-sweat machine) If excessive sweating affects your hands, feet, or both areas, this may be an option. You will use this treatment at home. It requires you to immerse your hands or feet in a shallow pan of tap water. As you do this, a medical device sends a low-voltage current through the water. Many people obtain relief. Some people dislike that this treatment can be time-consuming. Uses: Hands and feet It works by the electric current shuts down the treated sweat glands temporarily. Side effects: Some people develop: •Dry skin •Irritated skin •Discomfort during treatment Prescription medicine Some patients receive a prescription for a medicine that temporarily prevents them from sweating. These medicines work throughout the body. However we cannot prescribe in open question answer session as a rule but you can ask in consultation. These medicines prevent the sweat glands from working. Athletes, people who work in a hot place, and anyone who lives in a warm climate should use extreme caution when using this treatment. The body may not be able to cool itself. Uses: These medicines can effectively treat sweating that involves entire body. This medicine also can be an effective treatment for post-menopausal women who sweat excessively only from their head. Side effects: The medicines that prevent the sweat glands from working can cause: •Dry mouth •Dry eyes •Blurry vision •Heart palpations (abnormal heartbeat) Surgery If other treatments fail to bring relief, surgery may be considered. Surgery is permanent and carries risks. The following surgeries can stop excessive sweating: •Surgically remove sweat glands •Sympathectomy A dermatologist can surgically remove sweat glands from the underarms. This surgery can be performed in a dermatologist’s office. Only the area to be treated is numbed, so the patient remains awake during the surgery. A dermatologist may use one or more of the following surgical techniques to remove sweat glands from the underarms: •Excision (cut out sweat glands) •Liposuction (remove with suction) •Curettage (scrape out) •Laser surgery (vaporize) Sympathectomy is another surgery used to treat hyperhidrosis. This is major surgery, which a surgeon performs in an operating room. During sympathectomy, the surgeon tries to stop the nerve signals that your body sends to the sweat glands. To do this, the surgeon will cut or destroy certain nerves. To find these nerves, the surgeon inserts a mini surgical camera into the patient’s chest just beneath the underarm. The patient’s lung must be temporarily collapsed so that the surgeon can cut or destroy nerves. Uses: •Surgical removal of sweat glands is used to treat the underarms •Sympathectomy is mainly used to treat the palms.

Sir I think I have a big problem of low sperm count becoz when ever I masturbate once or twice a week I feel so badly...
hello .the testosterone level is low it may cause symptoms such as lower sex drive, a lack of energy or increased fatigue, reduced muscle strength or endurance, less strong erections, and a lower sense of well-being or happiness. The longer you are on the testosterone replacement the lower your sperm count will be, and prolonged treatment may result in permanent sterility. homeopathic medicine is best to increase testosterone level and sperm count . consult me privately . men can boost testosterone levels naturally by increasing their intake of certain foods. 1. Oysters. Oysters contain zinc, which in addition to increasing testosterone, increases muscle growth, physical endurance, and sperm production. Other foods high in zinc include chicken liver and pumpkin seeds. Zinc also helps wounds to heal. 2.Broccoli. Increasing the amount of cruciferous vegetables in your diet, which include broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, rids the body of excess estrogen, thus increasing testosterone. 3. Bananas. Bananas contain the enzyme bromelain, which some studies have found boosts a man's libido. They are also rich in B vitamins, such as riboflavin, which are essential for the manufacturing of testosterone. if u want better result consult me .

Hi, I am 28/M years old. Suffering from Insulin resistance. please suggest best solution.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Hi,
I am 28/M years old. Suffering from Insulin resistance. please suggest best solution.
Weight reduction, controlled diet, regular exercise, avoiding high fatty foods, junk foods, pastries and other bakery items. Sweetened aerated drinks, fructose corn syrup containing products, highly processed products, alcohol and smoking, are few of the things which reduce insulin resistance. Looking at your weight and height, bmi is 25 kgs/m2, which is not very high. But if there is central obesity, then that contributes to insulin resistance. Reducing glucose level and bringing down body fat improves insulin action. Your waist should be <85 cms. You should exercise at least for 1 hour a day or a bit more.

Dear lybrate user, the size of penis depends on four factors:- 1) height of the person:- every organ of a taller person posses greater dimension than those of a shorter person. 2) testosterone hormone:- less secretion of this hormone leads to underdevelopment of sexual organs 3) sexual diseases:- patients suffering from erectile dysfunction often complaints of short penis. 4) fatty tummy:- with every increase of 6 kg in weight, the waistline is increased up to 2cm. This fatty layer of abdomen conceals 2cm of the length of penis by surrounding it. The minimum size of an erected penis required for intercourse is 3 inches. A penis is composed of three highly vascular muscles. The plan of action behind rectifying the size of penis is to increase the amount of blood flow to those vascular muscles of penis. To rectify the size of your penis you can try the vacuum operated penis developer set available in market. You can buy it from local medical appliance store or you can order for it online. Use the penis developer set for at least 30 minutes daily. For better & quicker result, apply ayurvedic himcolin gel on the bent part of your penis before using the penis developer set every time.

Very frequent gets rashes on Penis head, but after applying ring guard it gets away. Need help.
Ringworm of groin is also known as tinea cruris or jock itch . It causes raised red sores with marked edges. This type of ringworm can spread to the buttocks, Inner thigh and external genitilia. Fungal infections of skin are the most common of all and are effectively treated with homoeopathy. This disease is more common in hot and moist weather and is more frequently seen in people who keep their feet enclosed in shoes or socks most of the time, (Athlete’s foot). It is also encouraged by the sharing of wash places and swimming pools. In frequent washing of socks and use of occlusive foot wear encourages relapses. It has been a widely acknowledged fact that homoeopathy can treat this condition effectively and without any side effects.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Heat stroke

1. What happens to the body as a result of exposure to extreme heat?

Exposure to extreme heat results in hyperthermia - elevation of core body temperature above the normal diurnal range of 36 to 37.5C - due to failure of thermoregulation. Hyperthermia is not synonymous with the more common sign of fever, which is induced by cytokine activation during inflammation, and regulated at the level of the hypothalamus. A temperature above 40C (or 104F) is generally considered to be consistent with severe hyperthermia.

The body maintains the temperature by balancing heat dissipation with heat load. The body's heat load results from both metabolic processes and absorption of heat from the environment. As core temperature rises, the preoptic nucleus of the anterior hypothalamus stimulates efferent fibers of the autonomic nervous system to produce sweating and cutaneous vasodilation.

In a hot environment, the body loses heat mainly via evaporation; but this becomes ineffective above a relative humidity of 75%. When environmental temperature exceeds skin temperature, then the other major methods of heat dissipation?radiation (emission of infrared electromagnetic energy), conduction (direct transfer of heat to an adjacent, cooler object), and convection (direct transfer of heat to convective air currents)?cannot efficiently transfer heat.

2. What should I do if I see someone with any of the warning signs of heat stroke?

The management of nonexertional (classic) heat stroke involves ensuring adequate airway protection, breathing, and circulation; rapid cooling and treatment of complications. It is mandatory to continuously monitor core temperature with a rectal or esophageal probe. Once a temperature of 38 to 39C (100.4 to 102.2F) has been achieved, then cooling measures should be stopped to reduce the risk of iatrogenic hypothermia.

3. What should I do if I work in a hot environment?

Ensure adequate fluid intake and frequent lemon water sugar salt drinks. All summer natural drinks are okay.

4. What is the best clothing for hot weather or a heat wave?

Wear loose cotton clothes.

5. How can people protect their health when the environmental temperatures are extremely high?
Avoid direct sun exposure
Take plenty of fluids
Use umbrella
6. What steps can be taken to cool the body during heat exhaustion?

Evaporative cooling is the method used most often to treat classic heat stroke and heat exhaustion because it is effective, noninvasive, easily performed, and does not interfere with other aspects of patient care.
With evaporative cooling, the naked patient is sprayed with a mist of lukewarm water while fans are used to blow air over the moist skin.

Other effective cooling methods are less commonly used in patients with classic heat stroke. Immersing the patient in ice water (cold water immersion) is an efficient, noninvasive method of rapid cooling but it complicates monitoring and intravenous access, and may be harmful to the elderly.

An alternative method that allows greater access to the patient is water ice therapy (WIT), in which the patient is placed supine on a porous stretcher positioned on top of a tub of ice water. Medical personnel continuously pour ice water from the bath onto the patient and massage major muscle groups with ice packs to increase skin vasodilation.

Applying ice packs to the axillae, neck and groin (areas adjacent to major blood vessels) is another effective cooling technique, but may be poorly tolerated by the awake patient.
