Ruling out of anemia also important in your case. However, your symptoms are not directly related to anemia but in your age groups gals its a common problem and presents with similar non specific problems. Let me know how is your appetite and periods (means is there excess bleeding?). Get done with blood hemoglobin investigation to diagnose anemia.

I am suffering hardly knee pain. I can take some medicines for this. But it can't stop. What can I do.

Physiotherapist, Noida
Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area.

Try few things for your back pain: - Apply Ice and Heat Heating pads and cold packs can comfort tender trunks. Most doctors recommend using ice for the first 48 hours after an injury -- particularly if there is swelling — and then switching to heat. You can use whichever you find comforting as long as your skin is protected. - Limit Bed Rest Studies show that people with short-term low-back pain who rest feel more pain and have a harder time with daily tasks than those who stay active. -Keep Exercising Activity is often the best medicine for back pain. Simple exercises like walking can be very helpful. But remember to move in moderation, Stay away from strenuous activities like gardening and avoid whatever motion caused the pain in the first place. -Maintain Good Posture Most people have poor posture when going about their daily activities, putting unnecessary strain on their backs. -Strengthen Your Core Most people with chronic back pain would benefit from stronger abdominal muscles. If the abdominals are weak, other areas must pick up the slack. When we strengthen the abdominals, it often reduces the strain on the lower back. - Improve Flexibility Too much tension and tightness can cause back pain. By increasing flexibility you need to put an equal load throughout the body from the feet all the way up to the head. -Sleep the Right Way The amount of rest you get is important, and so is the position you get it in. Sleeping in a bad position or on a mattress without support can cause back pain. Back sleepers should put pillows under their knees. Side sleepers should place pillows between their knees to keep their spine in a neutral position. Stomach sleeping causes the neck and head to twist and can put undue stress on the back. -Use Relaxation Techniques Research shows that practices such as meditation, deep breathing and yoga, which help put the mind at rest, can do wonders for the back. -See a Specialist Developing an individualized exercise plan is essential to managing chronic back pain. Some patients need more core strengthening while others benefit mainly from stretching and improving flexibility. Please consult a Orthopedic Physiotherapist for the right exercise plan. Best wishes.

Hey doc, my friend has changed alot, she doesn't laugh alot this days and she isn't her same. Few months back she started self harming and continuously cried. It all happened after some personal issues. She doesn't feel like playing or talking, she would rather sit in her room and read stories from her phone. Sometimes she doesn't even eat food the whole day, she cries to sleep and she has given up all hopes. She doesn't know what to do anymore. What should she do? What happened to her? Please doctor don't make this a public issue.

She is under depression. Try to find out the cause. She needs assurance and compassion. She needs professional counselling as the problem is somewhat difficult to be handled without professional assisstance at this point.Do not lose hope . It is completely curable and sometimes it needs only pschycotherapy. Do remember hope is the rope that swings you through life. Hope it helped, your feedback will be highly appreciated.

I am 37 years old and I have backache for last 2 years. It occurs when I bend for 5 minutes or longer OR when I stand for at least 15 minutes. I doubt that this is probably a slip disc problem. This is not a regular backache. What should I do?

DNB (Orthopedics), fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine
Orthopedist, Ghaziabad
When there is disc problem pain goes to legs, there is numbness and tingling. I doubt that you have slip disc problem. It seems your problem is associated with weakness of muscles. Do some back muscles strengthening exercises and learn to improve your posture while sitting.

I am 62 year old women. My left leg knee hurt a lot, in spite of exercises and medicines

DNB Rheumatology, Grad. Cert. Paed. Rheumat, MD - Paediatrics, MBBS

You most probably have osteoarthritis. The diagnosis needs to confirmed. If in fact you have osteoarthritis then you need to be assessed for comorbidities and need to be put on an intensive exercise program with control of pain using safe pain modfiying medications instead of pain killers. This can be done best by a rheumatologist. If you let me know where you live I can give you a refernce of a nearby rheumatologist. You can contact me via my website www.Rheumatologybangalore.Com You can get more information regarding osteoarthritis from the document below.
