Having strain & pain from right hip to feet autometically released after 20-30min. Walk, no definciencies in x-ray, using" gabapin me" as advised by doctor since ten days. Advise proper treatment please ?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I want to know your detailed clinical history, your relevant investigations, your treatment records till now. It helps me to better understand your condition and prescribe accordingly. You have only mentioned leg pain, do you also have back pain with off and on radiation to legs, x rays will normally not show anything since it shows only bony structure and not nerves. Gabapin is drug used for management of neuropathic pain but dose depends upon your symptoms. Please also mention your co-morbid conditions and drug allergy. I am a 27 year old, I have a lower- back and legs body ache for which there is no reason and no back conditions. Last time remember having such a back ache and leg ache when I was suffering from Malaria. I also have some amount of chills and headache in between with some loose motions.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Leg pain- for leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

How Exercise Can Help In Keeping Your Bones Healthy?

Did you know that in addition to your diet, exercise is one of the best ways to make sure that you never lie on a hospital bed with a surgeon treating you for a bone disorder? Medical expertise has constantly pointed out to the fact that regular exercise makes your bones less likely to suffer from wear and tear during old age.

As you exercise, your muscles become stronger, your bone density increases and your balance improves. Of course, it goes without saying that you need to follow certain precautions before you exercise to avoid certain injuries.

Before starting any exercise program, make sure that you prepare your body for exercise. A brief warm up helps you to get your muscles ready for exercise. It also makes sure that your chances of injury are drastically reduced.

Here are some tips to keep your bones healthy:

  1. Weight lifting: Weight lifting is a type of exercise that, if done correctly, will be extremely beneficial for your bones. You can opt for simple bodyweight exercises such as pushups and squats, which build muscle as well as strength. Avoid using very heavy weights as it causes back-related problems such as slipped disk.

  2. Yoga: Yoga is another method of exercise which is very beneficial for bones and joints. The premise of yoga is static strength building wherein you hold a pose or an exercise for a certain period of time; this helps in strengthening your muscles. Along with your muscles, your bones also become stronger as you get fitter. Yoga is repetitive stress which is good for flexibility and hence keeps your joints supple and muscles in good shape. There are certain asanas which are weight bearing and anti-gravity postures can strengthen your bones. 

  3. Swimming: Swimming again is a good aerobic exercise and is good for back and over all fitness but doesn't strengthen bone per se. It is a way to keep you healthy. Swimming is a cardiovascular exercise, which is also known for its calorie burning capabilities. It is also very effective is incinerating fat and keeping your skeletal system healthy. Whereas walking and jogging and running certainly build your bones as they are weight bearing exercises.

  4. Pilates: Pilates is a new form of exercise that has been gaining a lot of steam lately. It does not require much equipment, as you can get started with just a mat. It is very effective in working your spine and the hips, thus keeping your lower back strong. A weak lower back increases the chances of bone disorders drastically. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an orthopedist.

Sir my mother age is around 35_40. Sir the problem is my mother gets knee pain and joint pains from last three years and gets very serious from last six months. Now she is not used to walk properly. Basically we are agricultural family. The thing is she is used to work very hard after her marriage and lift some heavy weight so I thought due to that only she gets joint pains. We are consulted so many doctors and she is used to prescribe tablets from last three years and also we are consulted Ayurveda. Now my mother is using Ayurveda tablets. When ever she used tablet she will get relief and after that pain gets again. I request you to that please give me a suggestion and complete solution for this thank-you. Note sir her age is not accurate.

Your mother most probably is suffering from arthritis (OA/ RA) and its joint symptoms include swelling, pain, stiffness and decreased range of motion. Symptoms may come and go. They can be mild, moderate or severe. They may stay about the same for years, but may progress or get worse over time. Severe arthritis can result in chronic pain, inability to do daily activities and make it difficult to walk or climb stairs. Arthritis can cause permanent joint changes. These changes may be visible, such as knobby finger joints, but often the damage can only be seen on X-ray. - its good that your mother is taking aryurvedic medication as there is no side efects in long term use. Keep taking those medicines. - in arthritis, knee muscles also has weakness. Ask her to do thses exercises- 1 knee isometrics- with her kbee straight and back supported, place towel roll and continously press it for 30 sec and than releive. Repeat this for 10 times. Exer ise should be done 3 times per day. 2 active slr- ask her to raise her knee staraight upwards towards ceiling (15 degree of knee raised only) with ankle toes facing to face - for better understanding of these exercises you can watch on utube (just type name of thses exercises) - also check for uric acid, vit d, RA + ve level by lab test. - take appointment from physiotherapist for better understanding of exercises and condition as to releive swelling, application of ultrasound machine is necessary and also exercises change when muscle strength builds up.

Hello doctors. I had c-section after having contractions for almost 2days, before 4months. Am having severe back pain (exactly back to the chest and low back). Also knee pain, joint pain. I should admit i have skipped iron calcium during my pregnancy. I have been identified with hypothyroidism recently. Any medications n exercise? Thanks in advance .

Firstly you should continue taking iron and calcium supplements.For lower back pain do some hot fomentation and few post natal exercises should be done to strengthen back and abdominal muscles. Consult endocrinologist for hypothyroid medicine,dose will decided by the doctor as per your levels.And metabolism slows down so you might put on weight so need to have a balanced diet (since you are lactating) and do mild-moderate exercise or walk.

My son is 6 month old Dr. has recommend me to do his blood test. Test states that haemoglobin 7.4 P.C.V 25.1 M.C.V. 57.2 M.C.H. 16.9 M.C.H.C. 29.5 which says that all these are below normal range is there any side effect for the same and how can I bring back these to normal range.

Just do not wry, take homoeopathic medicine lecithinum 200 4pills 4 times 4 days n give a gap of a week again repeat 4 days n take such 6 courses. It just means that haemoglobin is low. Its a pigment in blood which should not b less than 8. Its ok you can take this medicine n repeat cbc weekly or 2 weekly initially n later monthly once n give iron rich products. Continue breast milk. Take care.

My wife is pregnant and 8 month ending now, high b.p and swelling on leg. Now what care?

Keep in bind that high BP not only show effect on wife n also on baby. Care under obstetrician is important..wife should undergo daily/alternate day BP n fetal heart rate monitoring. Take complete bed rest ,take prescribed tablet in tablet ,have a watch of daily fetal movement of baby(around 10times in 24hrs) If u haven't done sonography with doppler,u should do it ,it will show ur baby's situation whether high BP affecting ur baby.

Back pain may be due to strain, sprain, weather change etc. *Avoid bending forward while working on lap top or for any other work. *Don’t sit continuously working on laptop etc. Get up periodically and move around. *Restrict bike driving as far as possible. *Don’t carry laptop or any load on your shoulder. Carrying very light loads equally with both hands is better *Sit straight so that back bone gets proper support. A dining chair is better than a laid back sofa. *You can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good *Soft bed will not give proper support to your back bone. Hard bed with thin mattress and thin pillow is better. *Get yourself tested whether you have spondylitis problem. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. To start with, take Calc fluor 200--once daily in the morning for 6 days.

My mom is 52 and suffering from diabetes and BP problems, Kindly let me know best oil to massage her body as I year ago she had paralyzed but from god grace she is better now, sometimes she had pain in knees and arms.
