Hello, you need to visit a dentist and get it checked. For an ulcer you can apply baking soda over it, or do baking soda in water mouth rinses. This will give you relief from pain and heal the ulcer. If it still persists, you can consult a physician and get your Vitamin B levels checked. If required take supplements for it.

Everything You Need to Know About Dentures

Everything You Need to Know About Dentures

Teeth may be lost due to various reasons - decay, periodontal disease, age, trauma, etc. Whatever the reason, losing a tooth causes some side effects, as noted below:

  1. Reduced chewing efficiency, thereby affecting nutrition
  2. Aesthetics, more effect if front teeth are lost
  3. Structural support to the face - puckering can happen
  4. Overall nutrition affected

For someone who has lost a tooth or teeth, dentures are a boon. There are various options for people, and choice can be made based on economic, cosmetic, and overall health conditions.

Options:
Partial/complete: If only one or few teeth are being replaced, it is a partial denture. This can be fixed or removable. In case of old age or trauma where all teeth are lost, a complete denture would be in order. In most cases, this is a removable denture.

Fixed dentures/Removable dentures: Depending on whether the denture is fixed in the mouth or can be removed when not in use.

Metal or ceramic or combination: In some cases, for aesthetic or economic reasons, the patient can decide to go for a metallic fixed partial denture. The fabricated crowns will have a metallic surface but is acceptable given the strength, especially in posterior teeth, which take a heavy mastication load.

In cases of front teeth loss, the denture should almost always be a ceramic one, especially for cosmetic reasons. If the person cannot afford, a removable denture can be done.

The optimal denture should be chosen based on a number of factors including the functional and aesthetic expectations.

Caring for dentures: It depends on the types of dentures you choose.
Fixed dentures: This requires religious brushing, flossing or interdental brushing, and rinsing. The edges of the denture can put pressure on the gums and cause irritation, this needs to be watched for.

Removable dentures:

  1. Clean the dentures after every meal
  2. Be careful when handling them to avoid fall and breakage
  3. Handle the clasps with care, altered clasps may not fit properly
  4. Clean the bone and gums around the denture after each meal
  5. Soak the dentures overnight in water or a denture-soaking solution
  6. Avoid soaking it in hot water, can lead to warping of the denture plate
  7. Avoid hard brushing of the dentures

With any denture in the mouth, visit the dentist regularly every 6 months to keep a constant vigil on your overall dental health. Ill-fitting dentures, especially, need to be corrected immediately as they can lead to irritation, ulcers, and even infections.

With these small precautions, the denture can function to its optimal level and serve as a good replacement of the lost tooth. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dentist.

Dear,After RCT tooth is not able to bear forces of chewing if not capped. To b in function it has to b capped with a metallic, metal ceramic or ceramic cap asap. Else tooth may fracture making entire treatment void. Thanks n healing regards.

Hello everyone! Most of times our concerns are the yellow deposits around the teeth. We brush hard thinking that they will get removed. But truth is that even if you brush 100 times a day, they won't come out. These yellow deposits are films of bacteria and can only be removed by a dentist by procedure known as Scaling. If you don't want these deposits, floss and use a mouth wash daily. Because your toothpaste doesn't conatain anti bacterial agents in sufficient quantities.

Hi my teeth showing always yellow. Give me some suggestions. Or any treatment is their tell me.
here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. for faster result you can go for TEETH BLEACHING from dentist...

My dentist has advised me to go for 5 root canal with crown placing for my teeth. The cost of crown is very expensive here. Each crown costs around Rs 5000 minimum. Can i just do Root Canal Treatment now and leave the crown out for some years and then later get the crowns done? I am in financial difficulty right now so dont know whether this is advisable or not since i have pain in 3 tooth right now.

Dentist, Trichy
'3 tooth ' according to u is canine? Ok, placing a crown after RCT is advisable as soon as possible to avoid complications. Teeth become brittle after RCT and tend to break during chewing or biting something. Crowns are generally placed to avoid such conditions and to prevent reinfections.

Had a bad breath. Tried all kind of market cosmetics. Nothing worked. Pls suggest something.

Had a bad breath. Tried all kind of market cosmetics. Nothing worked. Pls suggest something.
•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person.

I feel once you will be determinant that you have to wake up in early morning nthing stops you to change your habit. All you need to do is put an alarm of time you need to be waked with louder sound and place an alarm clock quite a distance away from yourself so dat you have to come out of bed to switch it off. Initially it may be painful but slowly you will be used to it. You can do this.

It can be due to caries or gum issues. If its caries you need to undergo a root canal procedure followed by cap on it. This procedure may require 5-7 visits to a dentist depending on the severity of the infection and caries. It may also involve intake of medication like antibiotics and painkiller during the treatment. Some times there can be underlying infection after root canal treatment. You might need to do a re-rootcanal if gum issues are there you need to get scaling and polishing done from a dentist. Also incorporate use of dental floss in your daily oral hygiene procedure see a dentist at your earliest.

I'm eating gutkha daily so my teeth is full red how it will be full shinning give me tips.
Avoid gutkha or any tobacco products. As this may induce Mouth Cancers. The incidence of Mouth Cancers is nearly 40% in India because of improper Oral Hygiene and due to obnoxious habits conducive to Cancer. Next about your stains the superficial stains may be removed by Scaling and deeper stains will not go they will need laminates and tooth colour filling depending on the condition.

Dear lybrate-user. I can understand. Real cause of mouth ulcers is fluid imbalance, not masturbation. MASTURBATION is normal, natural and never unhealthy. Even animals do masturbate. As a human being, you are also an animal. Every animal has sexual instinct because they are designed to reproduce. Human being also has sexual instinct and therefore he needs to satisfy sexual instinct. Therefore, to satisfy sexual instinct, a man or woman, masturbates. In any case, masturbation is never unhealthy or will never affect your physical or sexual health or it cannot affect your future sex life and the ability to have children. But, masturbation is energy consuming. Please make sure you restrict your masturbation to thrice a week. I suggest counseling and sex therapy. Take care.
