I have a severe left shoulder pain, along with left side of my back half portion not till the hip, can't able to bend my head forward. The pain goes till the elbow. No pain at the neck. Kindly suggest me for quick recovery as I have not taken any medicines till now.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
Shoulder pain can be a result of injury or disease of the shoulder joint. Injury can affect any of the ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding the shoulder joint. Injury can also affect the ligaments, cartilage, menisci and bones of the joint. Some minor shoulder pain can be treated at home. Icing the shoulder for 15 to 20 minutes, three or four times a day for two to three days can help reduce pain. Use an ice bag or wrap ice in a towel (putting ice directly on your skin can cause frostbite). Rest the shoulder and avoid any movements that might cause pain. Simple shoulder exercises can help to stretch and strengthen muscles and rotator cuff tendons. A physiotherapist can show you how to do them properly. Please consult a physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your condition. Bet wishes.

I am a 34 year old male. I am having back pain for long tim and now I feel leg pain while walking. It is very difficult to walk. I feel more pain in lower back area. What should I do?

BHMS
Homeopath, Bhopal
Back pain can result from bad posture, a sudden jerky movement, a lumpy mattress or poor lifting techniques. It can also be caused by injury in a work place, by a sports accident or by muscular spasm. There are also many diseases and pathological conditions that can lead to back pain. These include abdominal or pelvic disease, anxiety, arthritis, cervical or lumbar spondylosis, dermatological problems, kidney disease, rheumatic conditions, tumours and scoliosis. Our modern, sedentary lifestyles have a profound effect on the development of back pain; indeed one of the most effective ways of preventing it is simply to stay active. An average adult in the India spends at least two hours a day in front of a computer screen or television set, and back problems can be triggered if they don’t sit properly. In an age of mobile phones and computer games, such troubles are increasingly inflicting children of school age as well. Top tips for back care: For back pain, better to see your Doctor sooner than later. Take regular exercise – your Doctor can say what’s right for you. Hours in one position can cause problems – avoid computer ‘hump’. During repetitive tasks, vary your rhythm and take frequent breaks. Adjust car seats and on long journeys, take regular breaks to stretch. Pace yourself with heavy work such as gardening – don’t risk a disc! Watch children’s posture – they shouldn’t carry bags on one shoulder or spend too long at a computer without breaks. Avoid strain when lifting, particularly small children and shopping. Your bed could be part of the problem. Seek Doctor advice on choosing a new one. Take a hot bath or shower, soaking in a hot tub, or using a heating pad, hot water bottle, or heat wrap that provides continuous, low-level heat are all ways to bring healing warmth to your lower back.

I have used most of anti dandruff shampoo but still I am suffering from dandruff problem. Sometimes it disappear for few days and suddenly its back what should I do?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello,Dandruff causes hair loss so its necessary to treat dandruff first. Take Thuja 200, 5 drops in the morning, once in a week. Take Arnica Q and Cochleria arom. Q in equal amount, mix with equal amount of coconut oil, and apply this on your scalp, thrice a day. Wash your hair with B&T Anti- Dandruff Shampoo. Revert me after 1 month. Home remedies are as follows:- Coconut oil helps eliminate dandruff due to its antifungal properties. It also moisturises dry scalp and provides relief from itching. Take some coconut oil and mix half the amount of lemon juice in it. 1. Rub it on your scalp and massage for a few minutes. 2. Wash your hair after at least 20 minutes. 3. Follow this remedy two to three times a week.

I m having pain on left side of my lower back, pain usually increases when i do my weightlifting training, it has been 3-4 weeks sice it has started! any solution?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. Pain in lower back region can be due to multiple causes , in your case it can be due to just muscle strain. I will advise to avoid weightlifting for some time and give muscles adequate time to heal. You can use conservative medications and a local analgesic spray for time being. But if your pain does not improve the we will have to look to get you investigated to rule out any discal problems. Do not hesitate to contact me in case of further queries. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

Does oestophtes cause continuous neck shoulders hands and legs pain xray show cervical spondylosis and degenerative anterior osteophytes I am experiencing this pain since 3 months Blood reports seem to be normal.

MSc Applied Biology, Diploma in Naturopathy

The medical term for bone spurs is osteophytes, and they represent an enlargement of the normal bony structureMany patients are told that they have bone spurs in their back or neck, with the implication that the bone spurs are the cause of their back pain. However, bone spurs in and of themselves are simply an indication that there is degeneration of the spine; the presence of bone spurs does not necessarily mean that they are the actual cause of the patient's back pain................u click button in power house and the light goes miles far off .....the magic of brain nerves in your body ...... right type of massage to straighten ....to get rid of inflammation,... and some right brain nutrition is the main cause ....ask for right treat

I am about 70. I am having severe back pain and I am unable to do routine work. Kindly help me what type of medicine I have to take to relive from pain. Further I am also having skin problem of itching in my legs and private parts. Also let me know the effective medicine. Thank you.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT

Hello Sir, Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -stop normal physical activity for the first few days. This will help relieve your symptoms and reduce any swelling in the area of the pain. -Apply heat or ice to the painful area. One good method is to use ice for the first 48 to 72 hours, and then use heat. Take pain relievers medicine. --While sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -Find a mattress with back support. A good mattress should provide support for the natural curves and alignment of the spine. Medium-firm mattresses usually provide more back pain relief than firm mattresses. -Do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back for the first 6 weeks after the pain begins. -Avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -Good posture plays a key role in your spine health, helping to prevent additional back and neck pain and even injuries to spinal structures. Try to be aware of your posture and make good posture part of your normal routine. -head up, shoulders back, rear tucked under -Stand and walk with correct posture -Sit with support -Lift and carry carefully -And finally, keep moving:-Maintaining a static position for too long—more than twenty or thirty minutes at a time—is hard on the back. Prolonged static posture can slowly deplete elasticity from the tissues. By simply moving—be it a change of position, a stretch, or a short walk—the tissue elasticity needed to protect your joints can be restored and the associated discomfort reduced. -Stretching and strengthening exercises are important. But, starting these exercises too soon after an injury can make your pain worse. -Some Physiotherapy treatment like IFT current can give you relief. -Consult a Physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your back pain. Best wishes.
