If you are done with your self treatment, then it's time for some actual treatment. But before that, you should provide details about the pain. How did the pain start. Since how many days do you have this problem? What is your occupation. When do you feel maximum pain and how does it get relieved. Back pain due to continuous sitting is because of muscle weakness. You need to strengthen your back muscles. Posture modification is required. Some medicines will help.

Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

I have too much a back pain and I don't know how to handle it by the by Iam a student? please give me a suggestions.

I have too much a back pain and I don't know how to handle it by the by Iam a student? please give me a suggestions.
Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -stop normal physical activity for the first few days. This will help relieve your symptoms and reduce any swelling in the area of the pain. -apply heat or ice to the painful area. One good method is to use ice for the first 48 to 72 hours, and then use heat. Take pain relievers medicine. --while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back for the first 6 weeks after the pain begins. -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. But, starting these exercises too soon after an injury can make your pain worse. -some physiotherapy treatment like ift can give you some relief. -a physical therapist can tell you when to begin stretching and strengthening exercises and how to do them. Take a private consultation with a physiotherapist. Best wishes.

Chronic Back Pain - Ways That Can Help You Manage It!

Chronic back pain is one of the common problems faced by people of all ages. This leads to disability to move. Fortunately, there are a wide variety of options to treat this condition.

Common Causes:
Chronic back pain can happen due to ligament strain or muscle pull due to heavy lifting. Bulging of the disk can also result in chronic pain. Apart from this, there are other reasons such as skeletal irregularities, osteoporosis, arthritis etc.

Treatment options:
Depending on the level of pain, a doctor might suggest one of the many treatment options available. Chronic pain can be managed with home treatment as well. It is advisable to continue with the daily activities such as walking, running etc. If the pain persists, a doctor might suggest one of the following methods:

  1. Over the counter medicine: For chronic pain, a doctor might suggest over the counter medicine such as naproxen sodium, ibuprofen, etc. However, over usage of these medicines has devastating side effects.
  2. Narcotics: Drugs such as hydrocodone and codeine can be used under the supervision of a doctor to get relief from back pain.
  3. Tropical relievers: These are creams or ointments that can give instant relief from chronic pain.
  4. Antidepressants: It has been identified by many medical practitioners that usage of certain anti-depressants can relieve a person from chronic back pain.
  5. Injections: If all else fails, as the last avenue, a medical practitioner can inject cortisone around the spinal cord area to cut down nerve root inflammation. The effect, however, lasts less than a month.

Therapy and exercise:
Therapy is one of the best ways to counter chronic back pain. Based on the pain frequency and bearing capacity of the patient, a physiotherapist can try various treatment varieties such as ultrasound, heat, techniques related to muscles release, electrical simulation etc. A combination of these treatments can reduce chronic pain. As part of the process, the next step is that a physiotherapist ensures is to strengthen the abdominal muscle with various exercises. The latter also ensures that the pain doesn’t come back.

Alternative Medicine:
There are many alternative medicine options which are known to be extremely helpful for chronic pain management. Some of them are mentioned below:

  1. Chiropractic care: This form of alternative medicine manipulates the spine to reduce the pain and give relief for the long term.
  2. Massage: Massage might help in those cases where the trigger of the pain is due to over work.
  3. Acupuncture: An acupuncture specialist injects sterilized steel inside the skin at nodal points. Many patients have reported that few sittings with a specialist have improved the chronic pain.
  4. Yoga: It is a form of exercise that is a combination of breathing technique and posture maintenance that can greatly help in chronic pain management.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned stiffness in your fingers especially at morning times. I will like to see a few blood investigations which can give a clue to diagnosis of cause for this: cbc, esr, crp, serum uric acid, serum vitamin d & b12 levels, serum electrolytes once you have got these reports done, we will have a clue and maybe initiate a management protocol. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards
