Hello, Ensure that the baby is made to eat well before he sleep, babys tend wake up again and again if they are hungry. A warm water spongying or bath will help him to sleep. Reduce sugar or any sweet item from his diet, excess sugar makes babys hyperactive. Lastly, fix up a timetable for his sleep, roz ek hi time pe bache ko sulaya karo, that works.

General Physician,
At six months you have to start all homemade foods one by one and when 1 year old he should eat with you at your meal timings. To suggest a diet I need to where you are form and the foods you make at home.In brief, all home made foods can be given.

She is 5 months old. She keeps her foot portion (from toes to ankles) bent at some angle while sleep and this angle increases when she is awake. What things to take care so that her foot become normal and she will not get any issues when she will start walking.

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH)
Pediatrician, Aurangabad
Generally small children will have their legs bent which is the normal phenomenon as the children will grow at about 1 and half to 2 years they will have straightening oftheir legs I think you should not worry about this.

All About Bronchitis

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
All About Bronchitis

The inflammations of the lining in the bronchial tubes, which are responsible for carrying air from and to your lungs are known as bronchitis. It is a respiratory disease and more than a million cases are reported each year. Bronchitis requires medical diagnosis by your healthcare provider and can be chronic or acute. Cold or other respiratory infections can cause acute bronchitis whereas smoking leads to chronic bronchitis. Acute bronchitis usually lasts for few days but with persistent cough. Whereas, chronic bronchitis can be responsible for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Symptoms of bronchitis:
The symptoms common to both acute and chronic bronchitis are given below:

  1. Cough which may form mucus
  2. Body aches and breathlessness
  3. Headaches, blocked nose and sinuses
  4. Fever with chills
  5. Wheezing

The diagnosis of bronchitis is done by your doctor who will ask you about your cough. Some other questions may include your medical history, about smoking or whether you have had cases of flu or cold recently.

Treatment for bronchitis:
Your doctor will mainly recommend pain relievers and cough syrup along with warm air to breathe mainly at indoors. However your doctor may prescribe the following medications in cases of severe bronchitis:

  1. Cough medicine: These medicines will help to remove mucus and irritants from your lungs. Medicines may not be able to suppress the symptoms completely but will give you relief from pain.
  2. Bronchodilators: Which clears out the mucus by opening your bronchial tubes.
  3. Mucolytics: These helps loosen mucus in the airways and help to cough up sputum.
  4. Oxygen therapy: It will help to improve the oxygen intake when you face difficulty in breathing.
  5. Therapy: Pulmonary program will include a therapist who would work to improve your breathing.
  6. Medicines: Using anti inflammatory medicines to reduce damage to your lungs tissue and to also avoid chronic inflammation.

Prevention of bronchitis:

Acute and chronic bronchitis can be reduced by the following measures; however, they cannot be completely prevented:

  1. Avoiding dust, smoke, and air pollution. You can always wear a mask when you are on the road or in traffic.
  2. Washing your hands often to avoid germs and infections.
  3. Avoiding smoking as it can cause harmful damage to your lungs.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

My daughter is 4.5 years old she has not passed stool since 12 days she is on homeopathic medicine what should I do she is very fussy in eating wants only plain white rice no dal n no vegetables only chicken or egg.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Kolkata
She is suffering from constipation. She should be on a good fibre rich diet. Give plenty of water. As she has not passed stool for last 12 days. Initially rectal enema or suppository is to be given followed by regular laxative along with a good diet plan. As constipation is a chronic problem in most cases and most common cause is habitual constipation. You must ensure a regular bowel time after a drink irrespective of passage of atoll. She will be sitting for sometime say 10_ 15 minutes in a fixed time daily in a indian style toilet.

Hello, Due to factors like weak body stature, hormonal disturbance, previous infections decreases the quantity of breast milk in feeding females. It can be corrected naturally with the help of Galactagogue herbs of Ayurveda. For the time being increase your milk intake, if possible take full milk meal whole day, massage your body with coconut oil and have a sound sleep of at least eight hours.

Hi, I have a 4 month old girl child. Please suggest how to care for and how to treat for best grow. And suggest any books, literature or tools which help us better. Thanking you.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
To give you a good guidance I need to know the present weight. Weight alone is not the indicator of good health. You can continue to give breast milk and add home made semisolids like raggi porridge, mashed banana and slowly introduce all the homemade foods. You need to be in regular touch with me so that I can personally interact and guide you as this is very interesting part of caring for babies, I like. Ask me privately.

My baby is 5 weeks old and vomits after feed since birth. She takes both the powder feeds and mother feeds. Since yesterday she is suffering from 99.5 fever measured from underarms. She has cold with a block nose and cough. She is refusing to feed frequently and is not as active as she normally is. Her birth weight was 3 kg and now her weight is 4.3 kg. We consulted multiple paediatricians and as per their advice we gave her 1 ml of DOMSTAL Baby drops three times a day for two days. However we noticed that she cried a lot and was really very fuzzy and was not sleeping at all so we stopped giving domstal. Right now she is suffering from fever, block nose and cough and vomiting after every feed so kindly suggest the best way possible to cure her health.

Pediatrician, Indore
As I can understand your baby has regurgitation issues. Try to give your feed every 2 hrs followed by burping for minimum of 20 min. Give powder feed only if she demands despite your feeds. If she does not burp even after 20 min, in your lap keep her on stomach and pat a little. When you r awake put her to in lateral position instead of putting on back. Keep in cool environment. It is very hot so that also leads to poor feeding and fever. Must visit pediatrician if child is dull and not passing urine sufficiently.
