You must measure both systolic and diastolic B.P. There are various conditions which increases and decrease your BP level throughout the day. Do go for at-least three readings in a day, and if then too BP increases or decreases, then contact us for homeopathic medicines. FOR LOW B.P - 1. Eat a diet higher in salt. 2. To avoid problems with low blood pressure and lessen episodes of dizziness after meals, try eating smaller, more frequent meals. Cut back on carbohydrates. Rest after eating 3. Limit alcoholic beverages, Drink more fluids during hot weather and while sick with a viral illness, such as a cold or the flu. 4. Avoid heavy lifting. 5. Avoid prolonged exposure to hot water, such as hot showers and spas. If you get dizzy, sit down. 6. Get regular exercise to promote blood flow. 7. Be careful when rising from lying down or sitting. To help improve circulation, pump your feet and ankles a few times before standing up. Then proceed slowly. When getting out of bed, sit upright on the edge of the bed for a few minutes before standing. 8. Elevate the head of your bed at night by placing bricks or blocks under the head of bed. 9. Avoid straining while on the toilet. 10. Avoid standing still in place for long periods of time. Do revert for homeopathic medicines FOR B.P.

Understanding Cholesterol Levels: LDL V/S. HDL

MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MD - Internal Medicine, C. Diabetology, Felloship In Clinical Metal Toxicology
General Physician, Mumbai
Understanding Cholesterol Levels: LDL V/S. HDL

For a long time cholesterol in totality was seen as a bad thing for your body although the truth was a little more complicated than that. Cholesterol primarily is divided into two types, one of which can be categorized as bad cholesterol and the other as good cholesterol. Let's have an in-depth look at both the categories.

LDL or Low Density Lipoprotein aka bad cholesterol - Cholesterol is a wax like chemical which is found all over the body and it has important functions to perform. Cholesterol is carried all over the body by Lipoproteins. The low density lipoproteins are denoted as bad cholesterol as they can accumulate on the walls of the blood vessels and cause blockages resulting in many ailments. LDL levels of 190 and above are considered dangerous.

Some of the risks associated with it are:

  1. Heart disease
  2. Stroke
  3. Atherosclerosis
  4. Peripheral artery disease among many others

HDL or High Density Lipoprotein aka good cholesterol - This is a form of cholesterol which is usually desired in higher quantities as it removes LDL from the system by dislodging it from the arteries and then carrying it through the blood stream into the liver. The liver then breaks it down and removes it from the body. Thus, higher number of HDL cholesterol is always desirable.

Some of the ideal numbers for HDL cholesterol within the body are:

Women - Ideal: 60 mg/dl, dangerous: 50 mg/dl or lower
Men - Ideal: 60 mg/dl, dangerous: 50 mg/dl lower

The Role of Triglycerides
Good and bad cholesterol levels also depend on the levels of triglycerides within the body and not just LDL or HDL cholesterol. Triglycerides are another type of fat which are used to store energy within the body but can also affect your health. It is most associated with atherosclerosis when the levels of triglycerides are high within the body.

Some habits that contribute to high levels of it are

  1. Lack of physical activity
  2. Obesity or being overweight
  3. Excesses in alcohol consumption
  4. Smoking
  5. Bad diet and others

Thus the good cholesterol versus bad cholesterol war also includes other factors, most of which can be easily changed by making subtle changes in lifestyle and incorporating healthier habits. This will increase the good cholesterol and the other relevant elements and reduce the bad. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

My father had cad and he is a diabetic patients. Today he had chest pain and can't able to sleep. Can you help me.
If he is a patient of CAD n is having chest pain (Can be angina), take him to hospital asap. But if this pain is of gastric origin then do the following- 1. Lose weight (if you r obese). Obesity is the leading cause of GERD/ Acidity. Don't Overeat 2. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, any fresh n seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 6. Maintain active life style 7. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods, Acidic foods, like tomatoes and citrus, Carbonated beverages 8. Take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. It contains a lot of fiber which will help reduce tendency for constipation 9. Drink lot of water. 10. Take half cup of cold milk when you feel acidity, it will help. Curd is good for u. 11. Everyday preferably sleep on same time Exercise in the form of yoga, cycling, Swimming, gymming, walking etc. This is for long term results But for now to bring your digestive system back on track you need to take medicines. For that I need more details, you can consult me.

Can Heart Attack Damage Be Reversed?

DM - Cardiology, MD - General Medicine, MBBS
Cardiologist, Jaipur
Can Heart Attack Damage Be Reversed?

A heart attack occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is blocked, often by a buildup of fat, cholesterol, and other substances, forming a plaque in the arteries. If blood flow is not restored quickly, the section of heart muscle begins to die, starving for oxygen. This causes a heart attack. A heart attack can also be caused by the rupture of the coronary artery. During a coronary rupture, the coronary arteries get restricted, reducing blood supply to the heart muscle.

Each coronary artery supplies blood to a region of the heart muscle.

Extent of damage to the heart muscle depends on the area supplied by the blocked artery and time between injury and treatment. Making some changes in your diet; how consistently you exercise; how much you weigh and how you manage stress can help you to recover from a heart disease quickly.

You can undo some, but probably not all of the damage, if you're willing to make big and lasting changes to your lifestyle. To reverse the impairments caused by a heart attack/disease you can become a vegetarian. Filling your platter with fruits and vegetables, whole grains, soy products, non-fat dairy and egg whites while avoiding fat, refined sugar and processed carbs is a sure-shot way of keeping your heart healthy and preventing future attacks. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cardiologist.

As she is having so many problems of different types they have to be controlled with multiple medicines and few of them more than one time in a day. Dietary modifications and regular exercise like walking and yoga are helpful in diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol. Pan D should not be taken regularly for longer periods. It has serious side effects if taken continuously. Use of Lonapam should be discouraged. Fasting sugar needs attention. Discuss these issues with your Doctor.
