My doctor suggested me take telma 40 and nebistar5 after breakfast? My bp is 140/100.
Raised blood pressure is not a disease in itself. It is just a sign of some underlying disorder. Homeopathy offers good prognosis for cases of essential hypertension. The treatment is based upon the cause and the totality of the case.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To know the cholesterol & blood sugar level you have to do investigation at a laboratory - blood sample will be taken after 9-12 hrs after dinner the next morning, that is the fasting blood sample - the second sample for blood sugar will be taken after two hours of having your breakfast.

I'm a 47 years old male. Notwithstanding that myself being a complete teetotaller, I'd heart-attack when I was only 30 years old & suffered myocardial infarction. Last year my condition got so very deteriorated that I had to undergo a Heart-Transplant surgery at Chennai & recuperating since then. For first 7 months post this surgery, I was put on a steroid Wysolone-5 mg OD. However, this resulted in a weight gain of 10-12 Kgs until now, more particularly around my belly. Kindly advise me diet plan with a set of must-do exercises, which'll help me reduce my stomach pinch! Please note that I'm off the Wysolone drug now, but I'm still put on a very high dose of immuno-suppressants! Also, please advise if weight lifting would help? Please oblige Regards: Adv. Prasad Kulkarni Attorneys at Law.

Switch to low-carbohydrate and low-fat diet. In cereals, consume rice (without starch), rice flakes. In fruits, consume low-carbohydrate fruits that have low levels of glucose such as Apple, Pear, Blueberry, Avocado, Apricot, Grapefruit, Kiwi, Plum, Strawberry, Raspberry. Use Canola oil/desi ghee. Sugar intake should be between 5-7g. Avoid junk/fried foods/sweets. Weight lifting would help. But better do aerobics and play sports. These would help better.

I am a 19 years old girl. I've been going through major mood swings and I just feel empty in my heart sometimes. Even though I'm surrounded by so many people I still feel lonely. I am really close to one of my friends and I have realised that only when he's around in the morning I wake up with this positive energy. But even if everything going right I always feel somethings not right. I have suddenly lost interest in talking to my relatives or family. I am a photography student and I have kind off lost my interest and dedication in it too. I just can't figure out whats wrong. I have no answers to my questions. I feel low most of the time. When someone asks me whats wrong I get irritated even more cz I myself can't answer that question. Sometimes I feel I should consult a psychologist. I feel worthless and directionless. I feel like I won't be able to find work once I pass out of college. There are just too many things going on in my mind and I end up over thinking. I don't want to take any sort of anti depressants or something. I'm just worried about when things would get back to normal. I get lost in my own world and sometimes feel like going on rides or going out alone. No one lets me be. I don't know what to do.

Dear lybrate-user, you are having depression now. Normally depression increase to a particular severity level and then improve on its own in around 9 to 12 months. So if you do not take treatment it will take 9 month for improvement. With treatment you will find improvement in your symptom in 3 weeks. I would seriously recommend you to consult psychiatrist and start treatment. You can start brisk walking or exercise daily, drink approx 4L of water daily. Maintain your sleep and wakeup time. You will get some improvement with these measures. All d best.

How can I reduce my weight? Now I am 56 years of age, weight 70 kg. I have hypertension, no blood sugar, cholesterol ...
Being a dietitian my views: there is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

Hi, an under-functioning thyroid is a hormonal disruption that could be fixed via good eating habits and an active lifestyle. At our clinic we do have several clients come in with a thyroid disorder which we successfully rectify with lifestyle intervention and behavioral modification. This would be a great platform for you to be on as well.

Dear lybrate user, -your pain is due to acidity, it may be caused due to long term intake of the analgesic medicine you are taking, -take medicine after food, reduce dose or take only paracetamol, also take an over the counter antacid medicine before meals -aiso do not skip any meals as more acids & juices in stomach increase pain & acidity -have meals regularly & on time, have food 2-3 hrs before bedtime, do not lye down immediately after meals -drink 8-10 glasses of water per day for good digestion -reduce stress, do regular exercises, avoid spicy, fried foods -have snacks like fruit, sandwich, yogurt in between meals.
