You have a significant diabetes and need to take these tablets and check again after one month and increase or decrease the dose .Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a difficult task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose – SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For diabetes, hypertension (high BP) and many long-term illness control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch personally. Sir my mother is suffering from thyroid TSH=5.9 from last 20 yrs. Is this disease not curable?
she has hypothyroidism a condition due to deficiency of thyroxine hormone, produced by thyroid gland. This leads to increase in tsh levels. To correct the condition treatment with thyroxine tablets has to be continued for life time. There is no cure. Ask her not to stop the treatment by listening to some body's advise.

Health tips for patients of diabetes mellitus

MBBS, MD - Community Medicine
General Physician, Ghaziabad
Health tips for patients of diabetes mellitus
Health tips for patients of diabetes mellitus. I wont write long list of do's and dont's. Its simple things which you can follow in your everyday life.

1. Avoid eating following food items. Potato, rice, corn, corn flakes, market made cereal, muesli (contains added sugar), oily stuff such as parantha, poori & pakode.

2. Take a brisk walk for at least 30 kin per day preferably in morning. Brisk walking means at a pace when you start getting tired and sweaty.

3. Weight reduction is very important. Of you r overweight join some cardio program or swimming or jogging or walking to reduce weight

4. Take small meals frequently. Instead of having large meals at long intervals.

5. Ideally blood sugar should be checked daily but thats not possible in our scenario so once a week or twice a month is f9.

6. Get your eyes checked regularly for signs of diabetic retinopathy. Visit ophthalmologist as soon as you are diagnosed with type diabetes. You will be shocked to know that a large number of diabetics are diagnosed by their ophthalmologists

7. Diabetes have an effect on kidneys and nerves also so get renal function test every 6 monthly or so.

8. Foot care is very imp in diabetes because even a trivial injury in. Leg can become gangrene. Use silicone sole footwear available at medical shops. Never go outside with bare foot.

How to be loose weight for a women in age 23 when she is suffering from Thyroid. Please tell me.

How to be loose weight for a women in age 23 when she is suffering from Thyroid. Please tell me.
WEIGHT 1. Whole-grain bread. Research shows that people who follow a weight-loss program incorporating whole-grain breads, cereals, and other foods lose more body fat from the abdominal area than those who eat only refined-grain foods, like white bread and rice. 2. Low-fat milk and yogurt. Scientists have found that the more calcium in fat cells, the more fat those cells will burn. In one study, two groups of overweight mice were put on a restricted-calorie diet, but one also got calcium supplements. The no-calcium mice lost 8 percent of their body fat, compared to 42 percent among the mice that did get calcium. 3. Lean protein. Good sources of protein, such as lean meats, eggs, and beans, help keep your blood sugar stable. The result youll feel full longer and get a boost in energy and that will help you burn more belly fat. Consult me in private for detailed treatment and to ascertain your personality symptomatically.

Diabetes control can only be achieved with the combination of diet, exercise and medicines, and not either alone. Go for a walk in the morning. Do regular exercise. Take lukewarm water with half spoon methi dana powder. Lose your extra weight this will not only lower your blood pressure but also helps lowering your cholesterol too. No skipping of meals. Never miss out breakfast. You should avoid fasting and feasting. Timely and balanced diet is as important as regular medicine intake to control diabetes. Complex carbohydrates and fibre should be included in diet.

Lybrate-user, in diabetes chance of getting repeated urinary tract infection is quite common. So strict blood glucose control is very essential. Fasting glucose should be closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% <7. Plus there has to be appropriate antibiotic treatment of each episode of infection. It may be necessary to get a sensitivity test to see which antibiotic is most effective. But still if hyperglycemia is not controlled urinary tract infection can continue to occur. Thanks.

Sir I m thyroid patient. T2.342. T3.22. And t4.0. 01. I m taking thyroid medicine regularly. Can you tell me permanent remedy of my dease. Pls give me advice.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr Balmukund, Hypothyroidism is a thyroxine deficiency disorder, hence the treatment is replacement of the hormone through oral tablets. This has to be done for life time as the hormone is needed for day to day normal functioning of our brain and metabolism. Hence this is the only option, There is no permanent cure for it. In addition one has to avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, peanuts, radish, mustard and coffee. Plus have to consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Use whole grain flour to make chapati and roti. No refined flour like maida. Daily exercise for 1 hour is also equally important to avoid weight gain.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Sir last one month se mere peron ke talvo me bahut jayada dard hai. Kabhi kabhi to walk krna bhi mushkil ho jata hai....
Dear lybrate user, your serum uric acid level is higher than normal level. Protein is one of the most vital nutritional substances which are required for human body. Almost every high protein diet contains purine. This purine produces uric acid on oxidation. Excess uric acid is accumulated at the joints of human beings as urate salts. This accumulation of urate salts lead to pain & swelling of those affected joints & this condition is clinically known as gout. You should avoid high protein rich diet like mutton, chicken, beef, eggs, sea fish, spinach, garden pea, tomato, lentils etc. Also you need to take homoeopathic mother tincture urtica urens q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. This medicine will help to dissolve the accumulated excess urate salts from the joints.

I am 46 years male having high uric acid in blood and high cholesterol. How I will get relieve from this? What is the restriction should I follow? Is it curable through Yoga?

I am 46 years male having high uric acid in blood and high cholesterol. How I will get relieve from this? What is the...
Mr. Lybrate-user, increased uric acid in blood is due to a metabolic aberration, where an enzyme is lacking which breaks down purines. Therefore, only certain medications which help in excreting uric acid are helpful. Plus taking restricted diet, avoiding high purine containing foods like red meat, organ meat, certain fishes like sardines, trout, herring, scallops, salmon, haddock and mushrooms and mussels. You can take eggs, milk proteins and other vegetable proteins. Also avoid alcohol, sweetened aerated drinks and fructose corn syrup containing products. This is not a curable condition. As regards cholesterol diet restriction and exercise and yogasanas will definitely help in controlling it effectively. Thanks.
