I have got pain in my leg from two years. The MRI shows this diffuse posture lateral iv disc at L4-L5 level causing anterior epidural space and lateral recess narrowing with mild thecal sac indentation and abutting transversing nerve fibres and existing neural foramen stenosis.(2) subtle L3 -L4 diffuse posture lateral iv disc bulge causing anterior epidural space and lateral recess effacement. What is the treatment of it .is surgery necessary for it.

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Hi Mr. Lybrate-user after reading your complaints of back ache since 6 month duration with your working style of sitting for long hours, it's most likely a mechanical backache. I wanted to know if the pain is radiating to legs with any numbness in legs or any tingling sensation in foot. You have to focus on your ergonomics like changing in to a comfortable chair. Avoiding long hours of sitting. Your desk to chair distance and other ailments. Most importantly you have to start doing back exercises everyday concentrating more on core abdomen exercises and back strengthening exercises. Medicines will reduce the pain only temporarily. So update me with the information I asked and we can set you alright. Get well soon Dr. Sripal.

Naturally I am light brown skin. But due to lack of awareness in past years my hands legs I foots. Have grown more darker. As I drive daily in two Wheeler for about 30 kms. Though I use cloths. My face has also gone dark. Except parlour s what other treatment s can b used for bringing the real colour of skin. Pls help.

First of all pl stop all parlour treatments. Start taking light food and clean gut by herbals for three days, then once a week. Eat salt restricted diet. Start smearing raw cold milk on face with cotton balls and massage in circular motions. Let dry and wash with cold water. Do twice. If you get time pl wash with pure rose water in between once. After one or two weeks, get next tip which will be according to response you get. It's slow but effective and safe and economic. Definitely working.

Hello, Congratulations for a baby. Well, the back pain is one of the complication of post C section, it does not occur due to injection. It normally happens due to flabbyness of the abdominal muscle which makes it weak, and puts undue pressure over back bones. For your question:- Yes! you can have a permanent solution for see a Physiotherapist for proper post natal exercise training.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If you have pain alone with no associated swelling, skin redness or warmth, fever etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp, serum uric acid levels. Get them done empty stomach and send reports across to me. Once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Start with Physiotherapy treatment. Learn Cervical exercises. Don't use Pillow. Apply volini cream before sleeping. Take calcium and vitamin D3 also.

Thank you for the query. Computer programmers are very prone to develop a condition called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This occurs due to compression of a nerve called median nerve as it passes through a tunnel in your wrist (carpal tunnel). The main symptoms are pain, numbness and tingling, in the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and the thumb side of the ring fingers. The symptoms may be worse at night. Clinical examination and nerve conduction velocity test confirms the diagnosis. However, other causes like degenerative wrist joint changes and tendinitis may also be a cause. Please get a X ray of the wrist joint done (AP and lateral). It is difficult to comment on the exact cause without examining. I would suggest you to consult an orthopaedic surgeon. Meanwhile you can take Calcium supplements and apply ice pack locally.

the swelling in chest must be removed & sent for histology. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Regularize your exercise, it should include neck and shoulder exercise, apply volini or nizer jel over affected area. Avoid sitting or bending neck for longer time. If pain persists consult for medicines.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For fever take tablet paracetamol 650 mg and Get your blood checked for cbc, mp , widal , sgpt and urine r/m and revert back to us with reports and take Tablet folvite 5mg once a day for six months and tablet vitamin D3 60000iu once a week for six months

I am getting mild pain in neck and near back side right hand should joints. Pain started early morning when I woke up from bed 2 weeks back. Whenever I ride my bike, I am getting pain in neck. Not able to sleep properly at nights, getting pain in neck and shoulder. I consulted local doctors and took prescription nerve, acetaminophen tablets. Pain is still there. Even took gastric tablet as per doctor suggestion. Still no solution.

To relieve neck pain try some home remedies: Alternate heat and cold: Reduce inflammation by applying cold, such as an ice pack or ice wrapped in a towel, for up to 20 minutes several times a day. Or alternate the cold treatment with heat. Try taking a warm shower or using a heating pad on the low setting. Home exercises: Begin daily gentle stretching, including neck rolls and shoulder rolls, once the worst of your pain has subsided. Gently tilt, bend and rotate your neck. Warm your neck and back with a heating pad or in the shower or bath before doing these exercises. see a physical therapist who can instruct you in doing these exercises. Most neck pain is associated with poor posture combined with age-related wear and tear. To help prevent neck pain, keep your head centered over your spine. Some simple changes in your daily routine may help. Consider trying to: Use good posture. When standing and sitting, be sure your shoulders are in a straight line over your hips and your ears are directly over your shoulders. Take frequent breaks. If you travel long distances or work long hours at your computer, get up, move around and stretch your neck and shoulders. Adjust your desk, chair and computer so that the monitor is at eye level. Knees should be slightly lower than hips. Use your chair's armrests. Avoid tucking the phone between your ear and shoulder when you talk. Use a headset or speakerphone instead. If you smoke, quit. Smoking can put you at higher risk of developing neck pain. Avoid carrying heavy bags with straps over your shoulder. The weight can strain your neck. Sleep in a good position. Your head and neck should be aligned with your body. Use a small pillow under your neck. Try sleeping on your back with your thighs elevated on pillows, which will flatten your spinal muscles. I would like to examine the patient in detail & investigate. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid, vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried. Do hot fomentation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Bio d3 max 1 tab od x10. Make sure that the patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that patient is going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful. Use no pillow under the head.
