I am suffering from slip disc. Its been more than 4 months now. I have sciatica nerve pain as well. Taking homeopathic treatment from last one month. I still have pain. I can notice swelling on my left hip. Please suggest.

Hello Ms. lybrate-user As you asked about your problems related to your slip disc and sciatica pain I would like to advise you to follow regular daily routines of getting all dietary measures and daily behaviours as well as yoga and exercise every day two times daily. You may consult local Yoga teacher and learn particular exercise for slip disc and sciatica pain. In such case only yoga and exercise is valuable treatment for your problems. You may consult any Acupressure specialist also for your your problems. Regular acupressure treatment for 15 days will help you also. You could not get any relief from medicines.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hi Thanks for your query and Welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - To maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - If pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you, a muscle relaxant can also be added for 5-7 days initially. - Physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - Adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - Ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - Analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - Avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Hai you can start some back exercise and take homeo treatment. Taking pain killers without doctors advice is not good it may have side effects on your body

Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. You have post febrile illness arthralgia. These joint pains usually last few weeks to a few months. Management is largely focused on relief of symptoms till the illness subsides. If symptoms are significant, and affect daily activities, it is better to consult me or some other Orthopedic in clinic.

Hi . You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. Dear user please get your vit D test done and x-ray of lumbar spine. And avoid standing long at a stretch also make a good sitting posture. Along use a remedy Rhus Tox 200 once daily x 7 days.

My husband 49 years fell down from top in 2012. Spinal cord compression. Now he is able to walk. But having burning sensation 24 hours in hand in palm region and elbow and leg foot region no sensation and having burning sensation. For the past 3 years he is suffering. Please is there any remedy?

We may advise best of neurotonics in ayurveda. Please start brihat vat chintamani ras 1 tab with honey if he is not diabetic. Otherwise with normal waterwater Ashwagandharishta 15 ml + equal water twice a day after meals. Mix prawal pishti+ godanti+piplamool powder each 5 gm. Take 1/2 gm with honey or water twice a day. Taruni kusumakar churan 1 tsf at bed time with warm water. Report every 15 days to change med. If required

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings.
