Hello, You may have problem of tonsillitis. Enlarged tonsils cause such symptoms. Sore throat happens due to infection. It is better you avoid junk food till your treatment is running. Also avoid cold and spicy food.

She is suffering from cough from many years and has skin allergy problem from dust what I should do.

DAA, DNB
Pulmonologist, Bangalore
Hi. I understand your concerns. She might be having asthma. Asthma is chronic and a common problem causing symptoms. She needs to undergo a detailed examination and investigations. She will need to undergo pulmonary function test which is needed for diagnosis and also to assess severity of asthma based on which treatemnt can be started. Consult a pulmonologist for the same. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.

I have regular cough with a bit of phlegm coming out every time I cough. I feel havey in my chest and become breathless by climbing just 5-8 steps. I am 35 years old, female.

MD - General Medicine, MBBS
General Physician,
It looks like you are having the infection of your lungs, what we call acute bronchitis. This might have caused a partial closure of the airways in the lungs and that is why you are having breathlessness. I would recommend you to get an X-ray of the chest and show it to a doctor, who will also give you appropriate antibiotics.

I am a 38 years old male and I have a sinus problem last 10 years. What should I do?

Do you have pain on cheek bones on pressing it? hot fomentation is really helpful in sinus besides drink fluids, such as water or juice. This will help dilute mucous secretions and promote drainage. Avoid beverages that contain caffeine or alcohol, as they can be dehydrating. Drinking alcohol can also worsen the swelling of the lining of the sinuses and nose. Moisturize your sinus cavities. Drape a towel over your head as you breathe in the vapor from a bowl of medium-hot water. Keep the vapor directed toward your face. Or take a hot shower, breathing in the warm, moist air. This will help ease pain and help mucus drain. Apply warm compresses to your face. Place warm, damp towels around your nose, cheeks and eyes to ease facial pain. Rinse out your nasal passages. Use a specially designed squeeze bottle (sinus rinse, others), saline canister or neti pot to rinse your nasal passages. This home remedy, called nasal lavage, can help clear your sinuses. If you make your own rinse, use water that's contaminant-free distilled, sterile, previously boiled and cooled, or filtered using a filter with an absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller to make up the irrigation solution. Also be sure to rinse the irrigation device after each use with contaminant-free water, and leave open to air-dry. Sleep with your head elevated. This will help your sinuses drain, reducing congestion. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Even if your cough is not related to your smoking, that you have had this problem for 7-8 days is of concern and tobacco consumption will definitely aggravate it. The lining in the throat is filled with tiny hair like structures called cilia. Cilia are tiny hair-like organelles that reside on the surface of cells. There are two types of cilia: motile and non-motile. The former continuously move in a wave-like fashion in a single direction, while the latter function as sensory organs that respond to stimulus. The most common reason to suffer damaged or paralyzed cilia, however, is smoking. Normally, healthy ones in the bronchial tubes work in sync with specialized cells that produce mucous to capture and remove impurities from the lungs. Smokers, on the other hand, are subjected to about 7,000 toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke, including arsenic, methane, and carbon monoxide. This damages the organelles, and dirt, environmental pollutants, and toxins from cigarette smoke remain in the lungs. Furthermore, these toxins migrate from the lungs via the bloodstream to other organs. In response to the presence of excess irritants, mucous cells in the lungs become stimulated to produce more mucous than they normally would. Of course, with damaged cilia, the lungs have no means of moving the mucous out. This usually results in an unproductive cough. In fact, the damage caused by smoking leaves the smoker at significantly higher risk for frequent respiratory infections, or chronic bronchitis. Continued smoking may eventually lead to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema) or lung cancer. In fact, smoking eventually destroys the cilia, which may then be displaced by an excessive number of basal cells or squamous cells. Over time, these cells may become cancerous. They may also become rogue, escaping through lung tissue and invading other parts of the body. You should just stop smoking and visit an ENT specialist for a check up.

I am suffering from coughing from the past 25 days. I visited general physician twice and they prescribed levofloaxin 500 along with crocin for 8 days and mc berry syrup for 10 days but it did not help much. Except that I already completed two cough syrups kasaamrit and benadryl. Doctor says my chest is clear the cough is due to throat. I am taking homeo medicine from past 10 days though it ahs reduced the cough severity to almost half but still it has not gone. It was a wet cough earlier nw its dry. Is there something to worry since I am breastfeeding mom.
