We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need fixed (bridges) type of teeth. Cost varies with dentist. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

My teeth's are started to covered with black layer coating near gums. Please tell me what to do?
If black layer coating is on teeth then you have to go to the dentist he will remove it by cleaning called scaling of teeth. And if black layer is on the gums then it is called pigmentation. This pigmentation is having another treatment consult to a dentist.

I am suffering from mouth ulcers. Please suggest me a good medicine. Thank you.

MDS - Oral Medicine and Radiology, BDS
Dentist,
Hi, for mouth ulcers, you can apply kenacort gel 0.1% on the ulcers 4 to 5 times a day. If they are common aphthous ulcers, as it is in most of the cases, they will heal in 4 to 6 days. If you have ulcers lasting more than 15 days or if you have recurring ulcers, you should visit an oral medicine specialist. Regards.

Its called bruxism. It comes as a result of stress or any psychological depression or any feel of insecurity. It is curable when the causes identified and removed. There are habbit breaking appliances to control tat habit. If its not treated soon it ll lead to attrition, sensitivity and loss of mastication function too.

Hello, you need a good scaling of teeth. Due to deposits around teeth, bad odour occurs and gum problem arises. Get a scaling done. If you want more whiter teeth then prefer bleaching of teeth thank you.

How Toothache and Headache Are Related?

MDS
Dentist, Delhi
How Toothache and Headache Are Related?

One of the main reasons of a severe headache is a prolonged toothache. Toothaches are extremely painful and can prevent you from enjoying your food. It becomes difficult to speak if toothache is unbearable.

Causes of Toothache:

  1. Tooth decay.

  2. Tooth fracture resulting from an accident.

  3. A painful infection at the root of your teeth or your gums. This is known as tooth abscess.

  4. Chewing gum continuously and grinding the teeth.

How does toothache cause headache?

Sometimes, a tooth becomes very inflamed and since the nerve endings are connected to the brain, this, in turn makes the pain travel to different parts of your head. Generally, people with bad cavities or caries have major headaches and migraines.

The inside of a tooth consists of a pulp. This pulp can get infected. If this tooth happens to lie in the upper jaw, then the pain is transferred to the head which can cause a severe headache.

Headaches can also be caused by TMJD (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction). This usually occurs spreading from the face, jawline and neck right up to the head. In extreme cases, the jaws might be locked up and it makes clicking or grinding noises. Misalignment of the teeth can be a cause by TMJD which in turn affects the head greatly.

Treatments:

  1. If you are detected with TMJD, your jaws need to be healed, first thing you should do is to visit an expert dentist in order to get the underlying cause of toothache treated. It is always recommended to get a proper treatment started, do not emphasize the use of self-medications.
  2. If the headache persists due to toothache, it is advisable to take a painkiller as prescribed by your dentist.
  3. Use an ice pack or a towel dipped in cold icy water, and hold it against the area of toothache. Do not put ice directly on your tooth as it might increase the pain ten folds due to tooth sensitivity.
  4. You can also apply numbing gel so that your tooth stops hurting. This in turn, will make your headache reduce.
  5. Toothache is also caused by small amounts of food which get stuck inside your teeth or between your gums, so it is necessary to clean your teeth thoroughly and floss it regularly to avoid toothache.
  6. Avoid chocolates and sweets. If you still get a cavity, you should visit your dentist immediately.
  7. Dental abscess also causes headache. In this situation, a root canal treatment is recommended.
