Person having diabetes commonly end up with a serious complication called as ‘diabetic neuropathy’. It is also referred as peripheral neuropathy in which the peripheral nerves which are responsible for caring the impulse towards and away from the brain get affected. The symptoms may vary depending upon the type of nerve that gets affected but most commonly people may experience pain, numbness and tingling sensation over the arms and lower extremities.

The most important thing to be done in curing diabetic neuropathy is to maintain the blood sugar level to normal always with proper medication, diet and adequate physical exercises. Ayurveda uses few precious herbs to cure diabetic neuropathy, which are identified by our ancestors before many decades. Some of the herbs are:

This herb acts on the nerves and also improves the strength and physical stamina. It also used for relieving the pain over the calf muscles, loss of weight because of diabetes, neuropathy, stress, frequent urination and nerve exhaustions.
  2. Manjishtha is an herb used in Ayurveda as a treatment for several diabetic complications. It treats not diabetic neuropathy, but also cures diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy. It acts as a best remedy for several chronic infections and inflammations. It has been noted that it has a calming effect on the nervous system thus it can also be used for the treatment of epilepsy.

  1. Abhyangam, in which the whole body is massaged gently with the medicated oil to improve the circulation of blood, causes nerve stimulation effect and also relieves stress. They concentrate mainly on the foot (Padabhyanga) which is commonly affected in neuropathy.

We have already taken him to chennai apollo hospital shilong migraine hospital. Doctors gave us a medicine sodium valporate oral solution but nothing improvement arise. Sir/mam what should we do plse tell us. My brother is only 10 years old student. Plse.we beg you sir/mam plse. Help us.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry

You don't need to be so helpless. Sodium valproate is a good medication for epilepsy control, though it takes some tome to start action. The dose of sodium valproate may need supervised changes and may need add on medications at times for control of seizures. Consult a neurophysician for the same. Also a brain imaging like MRI scan might be useful to rule out possible causes of uncontrolled seizures at his age.

Climbing up and down stairs requires enormous efforts by the body and the heart needs to pump more blood to your limbs to make them work. It is a normal phenomenon and is exaggerated in old age. I would advise you not to use stairs too much. Drunk lot of fluids and keep yourself hydrated. Move your ankles and feet before you get up from during our lying position, in order to pull back blood from your lower limbs to your heart. Regards.

Sweet smelling urine has various causes from just a lack or fluid intake, infections, metabolic diseases, presence of rare organic/ inorganic elements in urine etc. Rather than speculating reasons for it, it would be more appropriate to consult a physician get the examination and investigations done.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Migraine at 26 years of age can be disturbing. The mainstay in treatment of migraine is treatment of acute stage headaches and prevention of further attacks. To prevent further attacks you need a course of prophylactic medicines to be taken regularly fir at least 12-16 weeks and tapered gradually. Also associated problems like stress, sleep disorders, menstrual problems, anxiety and depression also need to be treated. If you are done with all this and still have uncontrolled migraine, please get back to me with details of medicines you had so far so that we can work out a remedy for your problems take care.
