There are no fixed rules. You do need to use an effective contraception though to avoid any unwanted pregnancy.

8 Foods To Help You Get Flat Abs

Obesity increases the chance of life threatening disorders or diseases exponentially. Diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular problems and orthopedic problems are common among obese people. Consuming proper food is very important in this regard as they help in maintaining an optimal weight level and support fat loss.

8 foods that can help in getting a flat stomach are:

  1. Almonds: Almonds are highly beneficial for your health as they are a good source of Vitamin E, folate, fiber, protein and healthy fats. They help in controlling food cravings and building muscles in the body. They also reduce chances of being affected by various cardiovascular diseases and even cancer.
  2. Eggs: Eggs are considered to be a super food as they are packed with nutrients. Egg protein has a high biological value, which indicates how well the protein is absorbed into your body. Eggs also keep your stomach full so that you can control hunger cravings.
  3. Salmon: Salmon contains essential proteins along with Omega-3 fatty acids that help in maintaining protein levels in muscles. It also reduces your risk of getting affected by diabetes and heart diseases.
  4. Yoghurt: Yoghurt is a pro-biotic that is beneficial for the digestive system. It contains a good balance of carbohydrates and protein that is beneficial for fat loss.
  5. Vegetables: Vegetables are good for the body as they assist in elimination of free radicals. They contain fiber, which helps in keeping you full and control hunger cravings. Folate, which is abundantly found in vegetables, minimizes the risk of stroke and colon cancer drastically.
  6. Lean meat: Lean meats like chicken and turkey assist in controlling obesity and heart diseases. They are a high source of protein, which help in building muscle and boosting the immune system.
  7. Peanut butter: Consuming peanut butter in small measures helps in building muscle, boosting testosterone levels in the body and burning fat. It is packed with healthy fats that assist in enhancing testosterone levels, which aid in burning fat. It also helps control hunger cravings.
  8. Whole grains: Whole grains contain complex carbohydrates, which do not allow the sugar level to fluctuate and provide a steady stream of energy to the body.

Fibroid Tumours - 8 Signs You are Suffering From it

MBBS, MD, Registrar, DNB, MNAMS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Fibroid Tumours - 8 Signs You are Suffering From it

Fibroid tumour is the abnormal cell growth in the uterus and they are mostly benign. Fibroids usually affect women in the age bracket of 30 - 40. Fibroid tumours are of three types, depending on their location:

  1. Submucosal fibroids: The tumour develops under the lining of the uterus
  2. Intramural fibroids: The growth is found amongst the muscles in the wall of the uterus
  3. Subserosal fibroids: The growth develops on the wall of the uterus right in the pelvic cavity

Causes behind it
The exact cause of fibroids in not known clearly. But certain factors have been discovered that might influence their formation. These factors include:

  1. Hormones: Progesterone and estrogen are the hormones responsible for recreating the uterine lining during every menstrual cycle. These hormones might trigger the formation of tumour.
  2. Family history: If any member in your family; your mother, grandmother or sister has/had fibroids in their uterus, you may also develop it.
  3. Pregnancy: Your body produces excessive progesterone and estrogen when you are pregnant, which may cause an increase in the size of a pre-existing small fibroid. Myomectomy can be done by giving incision on the abdomen or by laparoscopy depending on the size and location of the fibroids.

Signs You are suffering from it

  1. Heavy bleeding along with blood clots during or between your periods
  2. Lower back or pelvic pain
  3. Elevated menstrual cramping
  4. Frequent urination
  5. Pain during sex
  6. Longer than normal periods
  7. Bloating or pressure in lower abdomen
  8. Enlargement or swelling of the abdomen

How it can be treated?
Your doctor will formulate the right treatment depending on your age, the mass of the fibroids and your overall health. Your doctor may choose a combination of treatment to cure your fibroids, and they include:

  1. Medication: Gonadotropin releasing hormones (GnRH) agonists, birth control pills and ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory medicine) are prescribed. GnRH agonists reduce the level of progesterone and estrogen in your uterus.
  2. Surgery: Myomectomy and hysterectomy are two common surgical procedures to treat fibroids. Myomectomy is performed by removing the fibroids only by making an incision on the abdomen. But hysterectomy completely removes the uterus. The latter is reserved for serious cases.
  3. Non-invasive surgery: Forced ultrasound surgery, myolysis (shrinking fibroids with laser or electric current), cryomyolysis (fibroids are frozen) and endometrial ablation (an instrument uses heat, hot water, microwaves or electric current to destroy fibroids) are some non-invasive surgical procedures. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Hello doc i am a mother of 50 days old daughter can I hv bikni wax. Thanks in. Advance.
U can use bikini wax after 04-06 weeks of pregnant. As the area is very sore after pregnancy. Usually we advice to take at least 4- 6 weeks. But it is not a mandatory rule.

Hello, If pregnancy test is negative then you can wait for at least 2 weeks post missed periods to allow your menses to return. If they still don't, then you may opt for a progesterone withdrawal.

Do tummy muscle strengthening exercises. Crunches. Take healthy diet. Avoid fast food, oily foods, bakery items, cheese, ghee etc. You can also go for inch loss by non surgical lypolysis treatment in aesthetic clinics which gives shape to your body.

Hello mam sir. my torch test positive. If I get pregnant is there any difficulty if I conceive now. please suggest m...
In today's practice, torch test is not to be done, as it does not carry any value. All these tests, does not help patients,. There must be two parameters for each kind of virus. Igm and igg. If igg is positive then it is not important at all as it suggests old infection. Like rubella igg if positive does not mean that you had infection in thepast. Everyone gets vaccinated in childhood with mmr vaccine and that is the reason it is positive. If igm is positive that means you had recent infection with that virus, means within 3 months of that report you r not suppose to get pregnant. But again in cvm igm is positive, it is of no value as it comes false most time. These r the reson it has been stopped worldwide. Even if you do not take any medicines, report will be normal in 3 months without treatment. It can not make it difficult for you to get pregnant.

Causes and Symptoms of Vulvodynia

MICOG, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
Causes and Symptoms of Vulvodynia

Vulvodynia is generally identified as a condition, which causes chronic back pain or vulvar pain, but having no identifiable cause. The causes as well as the nature of the condition are very obscure, and until recent times, it had never been considered to be an actual pain syndrome. What is commonly affected is the vulva, or the external female genital organs, consisting of the clitoris, labia and the vaginal opening.

Generally, there are two types of vulvodynia:

  1. Generalized Vulvodynia: this can mean pain in any part of the Vulva occurring erratically at different times
  2. Vulvar vestibulitis syndrome: this is limited to the vestibule, or the vaginal opening. It has similar characteristics of a burn, and pain can be incurred only when contact is made, say during sexual intercourse.

Symptoms
Although not life threatening, signs and symptoms of Vulvodynia can still cause a ton of problems for women. They can create much complication when it comes to daily activities as well as other feelings, like sexual frustration, agitation, depression and low self-esteem.

Symptoms can be very erratic and can occur once in a while or all the time. They may be limited to just one specific area or can affect the entire vulva, interfering with daily activities such as walking, exercising and sexual intercourse.

Here are some common signs and symptoms:

  1. A burning or stinging sensation
  2. An aching or throbbing sensation
  3. May swell and you may experience soreness;
  4. Severe itching and agitation

Causes
Because the causes are not identifiable, extensive research is still going on in order to decipher the nature of the syndrome. A few possible causes may include:

  1. Nerve irritation or injury
  2. Genetic abnormalities
  3. Muscle spasms
  4. Hormonal changes
  5. Abnormal responses to infections or traumatic injuries
  6. Hypersensitivity to yeast infections
  7. Allergies to certain chemicals or substances
  8. History of sexual abuse
  9. Frequent antibiotic use

About Fat

BHMS, DEMS
Homeopath, Pune
About Fat

The general wisdom for many years was that all fat should be avoided.

Trans fat, saturated fat, unsaturated fat just stay away from them all. But now scientists realize that fat  and how our bodies process it is much more complex.

Our bodies need some fat for optimal functioning. But we need the right kinds of fat, and we need to practice moderation. Some fats are actually good for you, and others should be avoided at all costs. How do you know which is which?

Fats: the good, the bad, the ugly

Mono-unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are" good fats" and that saturated fats can be consumed in moderation.

Trans fats, however, should be avoided altogether, adds schmitt, explaining that trans fats are dangerous because they raise cholesterol levels. High levels of certain kinds of cholesterol, in particular low-density lipoprotein (ldl) cholesterol (the so-called" bad cholesterol") increase your risk for heart disease and other health conditions, including stroke. So how do we know which foods contain which fats" fats that are liquid at room temperature, like olive oils, are a better choice than foods that are semi-solid, like butter or margarine" the following tips will help you choose a diet rich in mono-unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and low in trans fat.

Mono-unsaturated fat (unsaturated fat): good sources of mono-unsaturated fat are canola and olive oils, most nuts, and avocados.

Tip: spread avocado on a bagel instead of cream cheese. Use olive oil and garlic instead of whole milk and butter for a flavorful twist on mashed potatoes.

Poly-unsaturated fat (unsaturated fat): there are two types of poly-unsaturated fat, omega-6 and omega-3 fats. Get plenty of omega-6 fats in their diet from vegetable oils, primary concern is omega-3 fats. Good sources of omega-3 fats are fish (salmon and tuna), flaxseed, and walnuts.

Tip: snack on a handful of walnuts, or add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed to your morning oatmeal or cereal. You can also add ground flaxseed when you are baking cookies or muffins for an omega boost.

Saturated fat: red meat, fatty meats like salami, dairy products such as cream and butter, and thicker vegetable oils like coconut, palm, and kernel oil are sources of saturated fats.

Tip: enjoy a steak now and then, but try to limit saturated fats to 10 percent of your diet, at the most.

Trans fat: made by adding hydrogen to vegetable oil, a process designed to extend the shelf life of packaged goods, trans fat is found in a wide range of packaged and processed foods, including bakery items, cookies, and crackers.

Tip: current food and drug administration guidelines allow manufacturers to say that their product is" trans fat free" if it contains less than 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving. Check the labels of processed food for" hydrogenated" or" partially hydrogenated" oils in the ingredients. These words signal that product may have up to 0.5 grams per serving. Eat a few servings, and this starts to add up.

The bottom line? be an educated shopper: know what to look for and the potential pitfalls. Try to do the majority of your shopping on the perimeter of the grocery store, limiting your trips down the inside aisles where most of the trans fat culprits reside. On the perimeter, you can focus on fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, lean cuts of meat and fish, and whole grains fresh from the bakery. Add a little olive oil, and you'll really be cooking!
