Immediately after returning from walk, I will take one cup of milk tea with two or three biscuits regularly. For morning break fast normally I will eat one Ragi ball only with little pomegranate fruits daily. After noon I will take food with pomegranate fruits. In between I will take two or three times black tea/milk tea. During night also I will take Rice/Chappatis or so. I am unable reduce the weight. Hi incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.

Dear lybrate user, chest pain can have have multiple reasons. It can be a simple pain originating from the muscles or bones in the chest wall. If pain is brought on by any effort like lifting weights or climbing stairs it might be due to conditions of heart. If it's constant and not brought on by effort, pricking in type it could be due to infection in lung or fluid collection in pleura. I would advise you to consult a physician. Also I would recommend you to take the effort to quit smoking as it poses the highest risk of developing cancer, anywhere in the body.

I an suffering from hypertension from last one month. Also I have stress on my mind. What I have to do.

I an suffering from hypertension from last one month. Also I have stress on my mind. What I have to do.
It is the stress that is causing the hypertension. For a young chap like you to have this level of stress there must be something rather serious to trouble you. The hypertension is nothing but high blood pressure. These are the measures you must take to contain hypertension: Reducing your daily saturated fat intake to 7 percent; Reducing your total fat intake to 25 to 35 percent; Limiting your dietary cholesterol to less than 200 mg; Eating 20 to 30 g of soluble fiber found in oats, peas, beans, and certain fruits; Increasing your intake of plant stanols or sterols, substances found in nuts, vegetable oils, corn and rice, to 2 to 3 g. Other foods that can help control cholesterol include cold-water fish, such as mackerel, sardines, and salmon. These fish contain omega-3 fatty acids that may lower triglycerides. Soybeans found in tofu, soy nuts and many meat substitutes contain a powerful antioxidant that can lower LDL. A supplement known as psyllium can help you increase your soluble fiber intake. Made from seed grain husks, psyllium helps absorb water and cholesterol from your intestines and may improve the ratio of HDL to LDL. You must exercise as per the approval of your doctor, by walking at least 30 minutes daily. For hypertension: The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet includes eating foods with potential antihypertensive activity like fresh fruits and vegetables (amla juice, beetroot garlic and radish), whole grains, milk, etc and lowering the intake of salt and processed foods. Apart from Yoga you must take the following regularly: Probiotics, Bananas, Citrus fruits, Papaya, Berries, Avocado, Potatoes, Leafy veggies, Beetroot, Peas and beans, & Radish. Exercise: Regular physical activity of 30 to 60 minutes lowers your blood pressure level by 4 – 9 mm Hg. Natural herbs: The commonly used natural remedies with antihypertensive property include garlic, custard apple, celery, ajwain, carrot, flaxseeds (alsi), tomato, drumsticks, basil (tulsi), pomegranate, sesame (til), cocoa bean, wheat bran, black plum and ginger. Stress management: Stress is one of the key factors responsible for hypertension. The various relaxation techniques used to relieve stress and lower high blood pressure are controlled breathing, reiki, acupuncture and meditation. You must get this book and keep it at home to be referred to regularly, ‘Reversing the Heart Disease’, by Dr. Dean Ornish.

Dear Blood cholesterol levels are not affected by food. Cholesterol is made in liver as per body needs. Recent studies show that cholesterol is not related to heart attack. Stress is major reason for high cholesterol and IBS. Please take medicines as suggested. Every effect has some side effect in long run. Stress needs to be controlled. Meditations will help. A dietcregimn will help. Attend stress management courses. Energy medicine like pranic healing will help a lot. Allopathy has limited resources to handle this. Be happy and have a reasonable disciplined life style. Best luck Vm.

I am 48 yrs and reduced 10 kg wt by exercises in last 3 months. Everything is fine including my lft kft blood urine thyroid tests but my bp is constantly 105/155-160. Why so. Does exercises have some correlation with this increased bp.

Thyroid gland affects nearly every organ in the body. Many nutritional factors play a role in optimizing thyroid function. However, both nutrient deficiencies and excesses can trigger or exacerbate symptoms. Working in collaboration with a both a physician and a registered dietitian is essential to determine nutritional status for optimal thyroid health. Improper thyroid function causes undesired weight changes, significant cardiovascular risks, and symptoms such as fatigue, mood changes, and gastrointestinal upset, which can hinder the development of healthful behaviors. I focus on setting realistic goals for healthy changes and regular exercise when counseling clients. There many potential nutrient deficiencies and interactions with medications and supplements. Hence diligent care is to be taken while designing a holistic treatment plan. I being a both a registered dietitian and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. Do reply back for private consultation.
