Hello lybrate user- recurrent kidney stone arise due to improper digestion. Follow these ayurvedic tips to get relief- a) avoid over eating, non vegeterian diet and fried, spicy diet immidiately. B) avoid day sleep and waking up at night after 10 pm. C) avoid spinach, tomato, potato, cashew nut in diet. D) drink boiled water. F) tab chndraprabha vati 1 twice daily will help stone dissolution.

1. First take a lot of fluid daily. The more you drink water and fluid, the less amount of deposit accumulate in kidney. So you have to make your kidneys healthy just only by drinking 2-3 liters (10-12 glasses) of water. 2. Stones are mainly formed of calcium and oxalate. So take very low quantity of milk, cheese, cream and dairy products. 3. Do not take strawberry, plum, spinach and tomatoes. These fruits and vegetables are rich in oxalate. So avoid them to prevent from kidney stones. 3. Stop taking supplementary vitamin d and calcium medication. 4. Avoid animal protein diet- eggs, red meat, fish in diet. 5. Take less amount of salt, pickle and western foods. They have high amount of sodium. So avoid it. 6. Urinary infection are also one of the cause of stone. So take proper antibiotic treatment of urinary infection on time. Even when you feelburning sensation or pain during urination, don't avoid it. Consult a urologist to assess the status of disease. And treatment according to it which fairly depends upon the place where it is located.

Can Lifestyle Changes Help Prevent Prostate Cancer?

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, M.Ch - Urology
Urologist, Bangalore
Can Lifestyle Changes Help Prevent Prostate Cancer?

One of the most significant glands in the male reproductive system is the prostate gland, which is responsible for carrying urine from the bladder. It is located right under the bladder and helps in production of semen which contains sperm.

Prostate cancer is a slow growing form of cancer that is rarely seen in men below the age of 50. It may occur due to both, genetic and environmental factors. Here is a list of measures that can help in preventing this ailment.

  1. Food Intake and Weight: Apart from age, the major factor that contributes to the risk of prostate cancer includes food and weight. Doctors suggest that bringing down your intake of calcium and fat that comes from red meat and excess dairy can help in preventing the onset of this ailment. The calcium intake should not go beyond 1,500 mg per day, which is why doctors will usually ask you not to have supplements. Cooked tomatoes with olive oil as well as cruciferous vegetables including broccoli and cauliflower should be included as a vital part of one's diet, while fish should be taken regularly as it is a source of healthy or good fat like Omega-3 fatty acids. In general, you should have fewer calories which should be matched up with ample exercise so that a healthy weight and balance is maintained.

  2. Stress and Blood Pressure: Stress and anxiety are also major reasons that contribute to the onset of this disease. One will need to see a doctor about high blood pressure, especially the kind that is triggered by stress and causes hypertension. Also, you must control your cholesterol and stay out of depression to ensure that your risk of developing prostate cancer reduces. Also, having these conditions along with prostate cancer makes the survival chances that much lower. So, you must get the right medication and treatment for these conditions as well.

  3. Lifestyle: One will need to quit smoking, that can cause a number of ailments including prostate cancer. Also, drinking alcohol in moderation is required in order to have a healthier lifestyle and cut the chances of developing such ailments.

  4. Screening: While your diet and other aspects may be right, there is still a great chance of developing prostate cancer, especially if anyone in your family has been afflicted with this condition in the past. Therefore, it is recommended to get an annual screening done so that you eliminate the chances of finding it out late, and can check the growth of any anomalies as soon as they take place. Getting regular checks ups done and getting diagnosed for the problem when the earliest symptoms begin to show are both crucial for prostate cancer. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Urologist.

My mother has urethra stricture Post radio therapy she is 65 years old. What treatments she can take?
If she has difficulty in passing urine leading to recurrent urinary tract infections the best treatment is intermittent self catheterisation using a sterile technique. I would advise you to see a urologist so that this can be explained further.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Sir my father is have kidney stone problem so 4 stones are in both kidney another 1 stone is in out of kidney I think...
Dear lybrate user, a kidney stone is mainly formed due to the accumulation of the minerals present in urine. Such accumulation occurs mainly due to low intake of fluids. Continuous low fluid intake results in the deposits of the minerals over the stone & eventually leads to an increase in the size of the stone. Formation of stone leads to pain along the kidney region. If the size of the kidney stone is below 3mm then it is possible to get rid of it without any surgery. Take homoeopathic mother tincture berberis vulgaris q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water for 15 days. The stone will be expelled through urine in between the span of 15 days of medication. But if the size of the stone is more than 3mm then you should surely go for surgery.

I think I have developed an anal fissure because there is blood coming out while passing stool. Though its not paining but I need your kind advice how to treat it. May prescribe an ointment which is best.

General Surgeon, Pune
Mr. lybrate-user Follow Sitz bath, meaning sit in a tub of warm water. Put a few drops of Dettol in it. Relax and contract your anal sphincter for 15 mins. Repeat atleast 3 times a day. Show to a general surgeon and get examination done. He will advise you pain killer ointment and laxative which you can use to ease the pain. You can take high fiber diet like fresh fruits and leafy vegetables for making stools soft. Drink atleast 3 liters of water everyday. Avoid excess tea/coffee. Avoid red meat. Hope this helps,

Hi . It is believed that prostate enlargement in many men continues till end of life. It is therefore recommended that you continue your medications to reduce the rate of this growth. You can also discuss this with your urologist and if your prostate enlargement is very little and you have no urinary symptoms then he/she can take the decision of tapering your dose or stopping it altogether to observe for some time.
