Causes Of Enlarged Prostate!

Causes Of Enlarged Prostate!

The problem of an enlarged prostate or benign prostate hyperplasia is a very common occurrence as you grow older. It's known to strike men above the age of 50, with more than 50% of men after the age of 60, having this complaint.

Causes of enlarged prostate

A non-cancerous condition, enlarged prostate makes the passing of urine from the bladder through the urethra difficult. The multiplication of the prostate cells causes an enlargement of the gland, leading to a buildup of pressure on the urethra, affecting the discharge of urine from the body. The narrowing of the urethra, due to this benign condition, forces the bladder to contract more vigorously so as to push urine out of the body.

As time passes, the muscles of the bladder get significantly affected, causing them to become extremely sensitive, thicker and stronger. As a consequence, the bladder begins to contract, even if the amount of urine in the organ is negligible, causing episodes of frequent urination. Gradually, the bladder fails to completely empty itself of urine due to the constriction of the urethra. This can give rise to a number of health problems including the formation of bladder stones, urinary tract infections, blood in the urine and so on.

How can you identify the signs of the condition?

Signs of enlarged prostate are very easy to identify and include:

- A slow or weak urine flow
- Difficulty in initiating urination
- Instances of frequent urination
- A feeling of not completely emptying one's bladder
- Frequent urination during the night
- Exerting a lot to urinate
- Instances of dribbling
- Urgency to pass urine
- A feeling of urinating again minutes after doing so
- Urination that starts and stops

Hi I am having 6 mm kidney stone in middle calyx and m having allot of back pain and lower abdomen pain .pls suggest ...
Respected Madam 1.You will pass out this 6 mm stone spontaneously without any medicine. Just make sure you drink plenty of oral fluids daily, atleast 2.5 to 3 litres per day 2.Limit the amount of salt intake in your diet. Do not add extra salt. 3.Limit the intake of animal proteins like red meat and fish 4.Include seasonal fruits and vegetables in the diet on a daily basis. 5.Avoid soft drinks and energy drinks like Red Bull. 6.Limit high oxalate containing foods like chocolates, nuts, spinach etc. 7. As long as the stone remains in the kidney, you will not have any pain. The pain you are experiencing might not be due to the renal stone, unless there is some stone stuck in the ureter. Hope this helps Thanks.

Hi doctor. I'm 26 years old last month I got a report that I have kidney stone and now its very paining if I do more ...
what are the size of the stones? stones treatment depends on the types and size of stone, most kidney stones won't require invasive procedures. You may be able to pass a small stone by: drinking water. Drinking as much as 2 to 3 quarts (1.9 to 2.8 liters) a day may help flush out your urinary system. Unless doctor tells you otherwise, drink enough fluid mostly water to produce clear or nearly clear urine. Passing a small stone can cause some discomfort. To relieve mild pain, according to your medical history I may prescribe pain relievers. I am a doctor and renal (kidney) registered dietitian who will also prescribe a customized diet plan and medications to help pass your kidney stone quickly and with less pain. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Prostate symptoms can be managed by medicines but if medical treatment is not reliving surgery is the only option. But cause of prostatomegaly should be evaluated first. Psa levels should be checked, clinical examination of prostate should be done. Ultrasound prostate should be done. If these findings indicate chances of cancer then proatate biopsy has to be done before deciding the treatment direction as treatment of cancer and non cacerous conditions differ significantly.

You are too young for taking medicines for sexual performance enhancement. Also the prostate has nothing to do with leakage of semen. Problems with your notions about sexual activity (masturbation or coitus) need to be addressed first.
