Skincare: Get Rid of Skin Pigmentation Fast!

Hyperpigmentation is a relatively harmless condition, but can affect a person’s self-image and psyche. This skin condition is characterized by dark patches on the skin due to exposure to UV radiation or as a sign of aging. It is caused by an excessive production of melanin in the body. Hyperpigmentation affects people of all ages and with all skin types. However, fair-skinned people are at a higher risk of suffering from this condition than dark skinned people.

This condition can be treated in a number of ways including:

  1. LaserLaser treatment for hyperpigmentation improves skin tone and boosts collagen production. With advancement in laser technology, scarring is no longer a very big risk with this form of treatment. Depending on the degree of hyperpigmentation argon or carbon dioxide lasers may be used in with short pulses or long pulses. Treatment can take anywhere between 30 to 45 minutes and is relatively pain free.
  2. Chemical peelsChemical peels rid the skin of its top most layer and bring new cells to the surface. This gives the skin an even tone and eliminates dark spots and patchiness. A light salicylic acid or glycolic acid peel is ideal for hyperpigmentation treatment. This is often used in cases where the patient’s skin is resistant to over the counter topical treatment. The concentration of active ingredients in the peel depends on the skin tone. Mild skin discolouration and blotchiness can be treated with a superficial peel while age spots and freckles require a medium peel.
  3. Topical ointments: Topical ointments are usually the first form of treatment for hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone or retinol are the most commonly prescribed ointments. Broad spectrum sunscreen that offers protection against UVA and UVB rays can also help prevent further sun damage and dark spots. Skin lightening creams with soy or niacinamide as active ingredients also help brighten skin tones.

Apart from these forms of treatment, there are also a number of home remedies for this condition. Some of these home remedies are:

  1. Rubbing a freshly sliced or the juice of a grated potato on the skin
  2. Applying a combination of cucumber and lemon juice on the skin
  3. A grated papaya face mask
  4. Soak almonds in milk overnight and then skin them and puree with the milk. Apply this mixture on the affected areas.
  5. A mask of guava and banana pulp. Consult an Expert & get answers to your questions!

Being a homoeopath,I will suggest you a natural way to glow your lips along with a lip balm. Lemon, Sugar Lip Scrub: In a small bowl, mix in 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice and coconut oil. Add in and stir thoroughly 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar, a bit at a time to make thick paste of uniform consistency. If needed, you can add in more sugar. After mixing it well, you can transfer the scrub into a suitable storage container. It can be safely kept in fridge for about one week.Apply a little bit of the scrub to your lips, and scrub it in circular motion. To effectively exfoliate your lips, use a small toothbrush. Rinse your lips with warm water, and apply a LIP balm( BAKSON) on your choice.

Hello Thanks for the query. First of all you should know what glutathione is. It is an anti oxidant which captures free radicals and reduces skin pigmentation. Any drug has side effects and it holds true for glutathione too. it is been widely used in market as skin whitening cream and shows some improvement too. The side effects are not much and can be used safely but the effect will last only till the time you take the medicine. Once you stop skin color will revert back. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you

Skin Warts - Try Laser Surgery!

Skin Warts - Try Laser Surgery!

Warts refer to a type of a deformity in the skin, which refers to the formation of a small, hard, benign growth on the skin's surface. It is generally caused by a viral infection and results in a feeling of discomfort or pain. Additionally, laser surgery is a technique which uses a sharp and strong beam of light to destroy the wart tissue from the skin. The surgical process is usually performed at a doctor's clinic or chamber, under proper medical supervision.

When should you consider laser surgery?
Ideally a laser surgery should be your last resort to remove a wart when all the other means of removing a wart have failed. You should opt for a laser surgery only under the following circumstances:

  • Medicines have not been able to remove the wart
  • Warts are large and widespread
  • Appearance of warts during pregnancy (only after consulting your doctor)

What should you keep in mind?

Before opting for surgery:
A laser surgery is a quite complicated process, but its effects are rapid and effective. Some of the things to be kept in mind before you actually opt for a laser treatment are as follows:

  • Laser technology does not lead to scarring on the skin
  • The surgery requires a local anesthetic, which is used for making the affected body part numb
  • Laser treatments should not be used as an initial treatment
  • It is a sure shot way to remove warts

Post surgery:
After a laser surgery the wound is generally painful depending upon the intensity, location and number of warts that are removed. Some of the probable outcomes of a laser surgery are as follows:

  • Bleeding of warts lasting upto 1 week
  • Mild to severe pain
  • Short lived fever
  • Yellowish discharge, which is to be cleaned

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hi, If you're looking to maintain hydrated skin, there are steps you can take, including: Avoid exposure to dry air Avoid prolonged contact with hot or chlorinated water Use a gentle cleanser instead of soap Avoid using skin care products that contain alcohol Moisturize immediately after a bath or shower and regularly throughout the day Use a humidifier Wear a scarf and gloves when going out in cold weather If you're concerned about dry skin, contact your health care provider or a dermatologist. You can improve your dry skin by good and healthy intake of food which should includes vitamin A, C, E and protein, lots of water, application of good sunscreen before going out. Drink 10-12 glasses of water, take more of fruits, vegetables, salads, almonds in diet. Sleep for 7-9hrs. daily.
