Or it may be that when we eat more fruits and veggies, we eat less fatty foods. Either way, you'll also help lower blood pressure and maintain a healthy weight. Foods enriched with plant sterols, such as some margarine spreads, yogurts, and other foods, can also help lower LDL cholesterol. Need a snack? A handful of nuts is a tasty treat that helps in lowering cholesterol. Nuts are high in monounsaturated fat, which lowers LDL "bad" cholesterol while leaving HDL "good" cholesterol intact. We all need a little fat in our diet -- about 25% to 35% of our daily calories. But the type of fat matters. Unsaturated fats -- like those found in canola, olive, and safflower oils -- help lower LDL "bad" cholesterol levels and may help raise HDL "good" cholesterol. You need carbohydrates for energy, but some do your body more good than others. Beans, and whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, and whole wheat, have more fiber and raise sugar levels less. These help lower cholesterol and keep you feeling full longe Aerobic exercise ("cardio") such as brisk walking lowers risk of stroke and heart disease, helps you lose weight, and keeps bones strong. If you're just starting out, try a 10-minute walk and gradually build up from there.

Pain chest at your age can be due to acidity, muscular. But if it is associated with some other symptoms then require further check up. & investigations like ecg, x- ray chest etc. For acidity you take small frequent meals (4-5 times daily). Avoide oily spicy food. Increase in height is not possible but you can improve body by taking proper nutrition, diet full of proteins vitamines.

Dear lybrateuser, -ihd stands for ischemic heart disease, which means that some of the blood vessels supplying bloodto the heart have narrowed due to thickening of the vessels because of deposition of unhealthy fats in their walls -this may lead to chest pain with or without exertion -she is also having acidity -give her non-spicy food with more of fruits & vegetables -restrict salt, sugar, fried, refined foods such as white rice, maida, give wholegrain food, brown rice, oats, jowar, bajra, corn -to reduce weight she has to walk at least 20-30 min a day, can do yoga, meditation for 10 min in the morning -get her further investigations done, consult dietitian for proper diet chart & a doctor for treatment.

Hello, I am getting heart pain (according to rhythm) whenever I am stressed or get angry on someone. I smoke 5 cigrates ina day and stopped for last two days. Now it's little better. It's getting even better if I jog in the morning. Felt the difference. What is causing this? What should I do to fix it permanently. I smoke for last ten years and get angry frequently many times in the past and never had this problem. Pls advise?

Stop smoking, stop taking stress of getting angry and do not take everything to heart. Eat a healthy food with less oils, more seasonal fruits and vegetables and be your own doctor to reduce stress.

5 foods that fight high cholesterol

Oats give you soluble fiber. Add a banana or some strawberries to get more soluble fibers.
Beans are especially rich in soluble fiber. They also take a while for the body to digest, meaning you feel full for longer after a meal.
Nuts: Eating almonds, walnuts, peanuts and other nuts is good for the heart. Eating 2 ounces of nuts a day can slightly lower LDL by about 5%. Nuts have additional nutrients that protect the heart in other ways.
Foods fortified with sterols and stanols. Companies are adding them to foods ranging from margarine and granola bars to orange juice and chocolate. They?re also available as supplements. Getting 2 grams of plant sterols or stanols a day can lower LDL cholesterol by about 10%.
Fatty fish. Eating fish 2 to 3 times a week can lower LDL in two ways: by replacing meat, which has LDL?boosting saturated fats and by delivering LDL?lowering omega?3 fats.

First, kindly get an ecg and xray chest pa view done. 1. Start your stop smoking plan with =? s t a r t? s- set a date for quitting smoking. Choose a date within next two weeks, so that you have enough time to prepare without losing your motivation to quit t- tell your family, friends and co-workers that you want to quit so that they can give support and encouragement a-anticipate and plan for the challenge you will face while quitting like crave for cigarettes and nicotine withdrawal symptoms r- remove cigarettes, lighter, ash tray, matches etc from home, car or work place t- talk to your doctor about getting help to quit and to deal with nicotine withdrawal symptoms 2. Distract yourself to keep your mind off smoking like concentrate on some work, watching tv, playing games, reading books/magazines, listen to music, cross word puzzle or playing online games etc 3. Remind yourself why you want to quit. Focus on your reasons for quitting like health benefits, improved appearance, financial effect and enhancement of self esteem 4. Get out of tempting situations like someone smoking close by 5. Reward yourself- reinforce your victories whenever you triumph over a craving. Give yourself a reward to keep yourself motivated 6. Find an oral substitute like mint, nicotine lozenges, nicotine patch, chewing gums etc 7. Keep your hands busy like squeezing balls, handling pencils, paper clips to satisfy the need for tactile stimulation 8. Brush your teeth-the just brushed clean feeling can motivate you to get rid of craving 9. Slowly drink a large cold glass of water to help the craving pass and keep you hydrated. It also minimizes the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal 10. Go for regular exercise, play some games 11. Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control emotion and relive stress 12. Avoid stress, anxiety, depression, excess work load, severe physical and mental exertion.

Dear Cholesterol is made in liver as per needs. Food does not alter this. Avoid medicines to control cholesterol. They have bad side effects with little result. Light daily exercises, green smoothie will help you. You can use curcumin and desi ghee to balance lipid profile. Vm.

My dad underwent a medical check up yesterday I was going through the report. He is 54 years of age.in the physical examination in abnormalities LIPIDS-N/ABN was highlighted. On asking him about it he said that it's regular cholesterol and he has has been given medication for it. His cholesterol is 227 mg/dl and S.LDL-cholesterol is 164.4 mg/dl. These were highlighted as well. If you could just help me out to know what it is.in the report it was also highlighted to test this abnormality after every 4-6 weeks. Thank you. Dear Lybrateuser, -Do avoid any arguments with family & friends as it is the main cause of your problem -do regular exercise like walking /brisk walking for 20-30 min in morning, do yoga, meditation & deep breathing exercise for 10-15 min in the morning to calm & relax your mind & to keep the body fit -do not take a nap for more than 30 min in the day -keep yourself occupied in the day by reading, listening to music, following a hobby, socializing with friends & speaking with family -also reduce intake of alcohol to 60 ml as the amount you consume is more, as you reduce the consumption you will start getting sound sleep -also take a balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables, have 6-7 glasses of water for sufficient hydration -take medication on time regularly.

Dear Lybrateuser, -You have anxiety & weakness for which you should have a balanced diet & do regular exercises -in diet include more of fruits & vegetables including green leafy ones ,beans, wholegrains, soyaproducts, milk, cheese, paneer, yogurt, lean meats, nuts-almonds, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts -do regular aerobic exercises like jogging, cycling, swimming for 30 min, do moderate weight lifting at least twice a week, yoga, deep breathing fot 5-10 min daily -get your BP, blood sugar, thyroid hormone checkup done.

Hello lybrate-user, - there are many reasons for stomach ache and it's difficult to diagnose on one symptom that is" ache" always. - better to give clear symptoms, where the pain is locating and when it will appear etc - as you are medications for other issues better to go with home remedies - have a glass of butter milk daily once - have a glass of. Warm water after your dinner - have decoction of ajwain and ginger daily twice before food - avoid sour foods and fried food - take kamadhudha ras 2-0-2 for 10 days you will be better after this. Slow passing of urine is not due to proteins in urine. It may be a sign of prostate. You will need a usg (sonography) with residual urine to rule out prostate. Urine proteins suggest either infection or slight kidney damage due to diabetes or blood pressure. Please do 2 tests s. Creatinine and microalbumin to rule out these pathologies.

Hello dear High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation,yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods,oily foods,junk foods,alcohol,smoking,fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress,take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

Do's 1) close windows at night to avoid pollens 2) take regular medicines 3) do exercise and pranayama daily 4) diet should be healthy 5) keep bedroom clean and dust free 6) regular checkup at clinic 7) use a light color to wall as well curtains.(especially bedroom) 8) dinner should be taken before sunset. 9) Use mask while going out or apply coconut oil to nostrils 10) carry inhaler all the time (emergency) 11) massage to the chest and back warm with oil, afterward take hot fomentation. DON'TS 1) smoking -active or passive 2) exposure to allergens air pollution 3) avoid visit to gardens 4) stop the self medication. Dear lybrate user, loss of libido is one of the side effects of the medication for high blood pressure. Now you surely need to take sexual medicines. You can try a home therapy to boost your sexual performance. Soak 4-5 dry dates (khurma khajur) in a cup of lukewarm milk before going to bed daily. On waking up next morning eat those soaked dry dates & discard the milk. Repeat the process daily. 1. Limit intake of food rich in saturated fat/Trans fat/dietary cholesterol. Avoid saturated fat like red meat, diary product, cakes/cookies, egg yolk, butter, ghee, coconut oil. Use olive oil. 2. Take food rich in omega 3 fatty acid like fish (Salmon/mackerel/Trout/sardins). 3. Take handful of dry fruits like walnut/ almond 4.increase soluble fibers in diet by eating oat/oat bran/barley 5. Take green leafy vegetables/legumes (lentil/bean/peas) fruits. 5. Go for regular exercise like brisk walking/swiming/cycling/ going to gym 6. Quit smoking/alcohol/excess tea/coffee 7. Reduce weight 8. Take medicine after consulting physician.

For low bp 1. Drink plenty of water/ nimbu pani/electral powder with water 2. Increase salt intake 3. Take plenty of fresh green leafy vegetables, fruits. Fish, chicken etc 4. Avoid alcohol 5, go for regular exercise 6. Drink tea/ coffee 7. Avoid prolonged standing 8. Avoid stress, anxiety, depression 9. Take. Adequate rest and have 7-8 hours of sound sleep in the night 10. Do yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress 11. Check your hemoglobin, monitor bp and consult physician for advice and treatment.
