Frozen Shoulder Tips
FROZEN SHOULDER

Also known as Adhesive causalities and Periarthritis.
A stiff, painful shoulder with progressive limitation of movement. Sign and symptoms begin gradually, worsen over time.
Usually occurs on one side. Sometimes it can spread to the other shoulder. Some idiopathic facts for frozen shoulder-It happens mostly to people aged in 40’s,50’s and 60’s.
Women get their frozen shoulder much more commonly than men.
Causes-We can classify in two groups
1) Primary-No significant reason for pain and stiffness.
2) Secondary- may be due to synovitis, rupture of the capsule, subacromial bursitis or a lesion in the muscle complex round the joint particularly in the supraspinatus. There may be history of trauma, your arm in a sling for long time immobilized in a specific position for a prolonged period.
Other ailments are-Heart or lung problems can be linked to cause shoulder pain. Cardiac surgery has sometimes lead to
frozen shoulder. Lung problems like tuberculosis or tumor. Diabetes is a common associated condition with frozen shoulder
Symptoms-Symptoms are variable depending on the cause. Pain is the usual presenting feature and may be accompanied by muscle spasm and limitation of movement. The onset can be acute. When the condition is sub acute or chronic, pain and stiffness are most marked after a period of inactivity and may be eased by moderate exercise. Tender areas may be present. Pain often worst at night and when lying on the affected side. Patient has difficulty with normal daily tasks such as dressing, preparing food, carrying bags and working. Muscle wastage may be evident due to lack of use. According to ayuveda- frozen shoulder is known as Ababahuka. Ayurvedda described-80 Types of Vata nanatamaja roja (caused by vitiation of vata dosha). Ababahuka is also a vata nanatmaja roga. Vitiated vata dosha absorbs the fluid (kapha) of the joint cause to Ababahuka.
Treatment-It is essential to carry out a careful clinical examination as many diseases of diverse origin frequently present with musculoskeletal symptoms.

Anti-inflammatory drugs.
Injection of steroid into the joint to reduce inflammation
Nerve block a short term pain relief option
Surgery if the above fails

Ayurveda treatment- If frozen shoulder caused by secondary group than the other ailments- the Panchkarma and Kerala therapy is very effective. The aim of the Ayurveda treatment is to bring vitiated vata in equilibrium.
Most popular kerala therapy is pizhichil means squeezing of medicated oil with the help of cotton cloth all over the body with full concentration on shoulder along with different stroke of massage. It is a process of fomentation, highly effective for treating diseases caused by vitiation of vata dosha. Duration of treatment varies according to the severity of symptoms of the patient.

Dear as you mentioned that pain increases in the morning. You have work stress you need to check your sitting posture sit in correct way adjust your chair and monitor screen -do hot fermentation 3 times in a day duration-20 min -do stretches 2 min proper along hold and relax do it for two days then I will tell you further program take care.

Homeopathy is one of the most important and effective therapy for back pain. Tips for backache: heavy objects should be pushed rather than pulled. The weight of the objects should be taken in your bent legs and arms and not in your back. During an acute attack sleep with a pillow under the knees. Choose shoes that offer good support in the arch and have low, but not flat, heels. Prop up one foot on a box or low stool when you're standing for a long time. Use a chair that provides support for your back, or tuck a little pillow behind your lower back. Tips to improve balance/alignment/motion: lift your leg so your thigh is parallel to the ground while touching a wall. Hold it for five breaths. For alignment, move side to side while sitting on a balance ball. For motion, try moving forward and backward on the ball.

Avoid long standing and keep equal balance on both legs di heat fermentation and gentle massage tk muscle relaxant medicine and rest. If it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment tens and ultrasonic therapy.

Calf Stretches Standing calf stretch Stand away from a wall and.put your fight foot behind you and be sure your toes are facing forward. Lean forward at the ankle while bending the right knee and keeping your heel on the ground. Hold this for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat 10 times a twice a day. Downward dog yoga stretch Get down on all fours with your hands under your shoulders on the floor. Walk your hands forward slightly on the floor. Spread your fingers apart to allow for a broad base of support. Push your hips up toward the ceiling and tighten your abdominal muscles. Keep your heels on the ground and gently try and straighten your knees. Repeat 10 times a twice a day. Wall calf stretch Stand about two feet away from a wall. Place the ball of your right foot against the wall while your heel remains on the ground. Slowly and gently lean into the wall while keeping your knee straight. Hold this for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Downward dog yoga stretch Get down on all fours with your hands under your shoulders on the floor. Walk your hands forward slightly on the floor. Spread your fingers apart to allow for a broad base of support. Push your hips up toward the ceiling and tighten your abdominal muscles. Keep your heels on the ground and gently try and straighten your knees. Hold this for the 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Contrast bath---It is a form of treatment where a limb or the entire body is immersed in warm water followed by the immediate immersion of the limb or body in ice water. This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold. Note that the treatment should always end in the ice water, as heat will induce the body's inflammatory response, while cold helps to decrease inflammation.

It is a common symptom for patients having Diabetic-neuropathy. Please check with your Doctor treating you for this. Take a dose of Hypericum 1 M and revert after 2 weeks.

Bone pain needs to be thoriughly investigated. We need routine as well as some specialised blood tests. The most common cause is osteomalacia. But there can be other causes like myeloma.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello Dear, According to Ayurveda joint pain is known as Sandhigata vata. With increase in age vata dosha is predominant in human body that is why with aging disease caused by vata dosha increases in body. Joint pain is a common symptom with many possible causes. Joint Pain and Arthritis are the one of the most devastating conditions faced by individuals, particularly elderly women today. When there is pure Vata dosha involvement (a pain without swelling or discoloration) then the massage with medicated ayurvedic oil is quite useful & supplement is helpful in balancing bodily humors ?vata, which is responsible dosha for Sandhigata vata.

Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Hello dear this not a age for weakness go for a orthopedic consultation. Check your vitamin level and do regular walk with protein diet. U may get recover from yr problem. Nutrition is very imp. For body so dont do fasting or irregularity in diet.

Back pain - tk rest heat fermentation twice a day and avoid long standing, sitting, toward bending, ankle pain - avoid long standing tk heat fermentation with warm water for 20 minutes and do calf stretching ig it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment.

Dear Dr, I am 44-years-old slim, 53 kgs weight and I have a question. I occasionally get either left leg or right leg pain (on the back side of leg) and starts slow and it gets worst during evening or sometimes it starts in the evening and gets worst pain during night, for which I either apply some cream or occasionally take OTC medication. Also I have severe sinus problems which comes every now and then and gives me one hell of sickness and headaches, continuously phlegm coming out of my nose yellowish and sometimes bad smell. I need suggestion / Opinion / advice / application for the above. Please let me know your further advise on the same. Thanks.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, Greetings. As I see from what you said, you have Two different Problems 1.Chronic Sinusitis 2. Low back Pain with Sciatica being aggravated by stress and strain. And can also get aggravated by sneezing and cough as a result of off and on Sinusitis. The solution is that you have to consult 1. An ENT Surgeon for sinusitis 2. You also has to consult an Orthopedic surgeon to get examination and investigation for Back pain and Sciatica, may be due to Lumbar Disc lesion. Wishing you all the Best.

Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). Lie down on bed on your back without pillow. Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day.

For pain take tablet paracetamol only and daily you need to exercise regularly and avoid pickles and papads and also take folicacid and vitamin d supplements
