I am 19 years old female. I have lump on my left breast and also right breast. Sized 2.5cm. After doing fnac needle test it shows its fibroadenoma? is it safe? can I leave as it is? or should I operate it? if so when can I operate it? after operated will I get any problem?

MS - General Surgery
Oncologist, Ludhiana
Fibroadenoma is benign condition and it is safe. If you leave it, it will increase in size. Treatment of fibroadenoma is surgery. One fibroadenoma is removed there will be no problem related to it.

Hello, Irregular period is usually defined as any type of bleeding that's abnormal when compared to your last few menstrual cycles. It can include everything from a late period to early bleeding, and scant bleeding to extremely heaving bleeding. For many women, this can even mean an absent period (amenorrhea) or two periods in one month (metrorrhagia). It's actually a way of your body telling you something is not right and probably your hormones (especially estrogen and progesterone) are imbalanced. Although, in most cases, they are not dangerous, but it is important to figure out what is causing the irregularity (which may require a trip to the doctor). RESAONS/ CAUSES: Some common reasons for irregular periods: STRESS: Stress is the most common cause of irregular periods. Cortisol, the stress hormone, has a direct impact on how much estrogen and progesterone, two sex hormones, gets produced by the body. POOR DIET: Unhealthy eating and being overweight or underweight can cause irregular periods. In order for a woman to maintain a regular cycle, her body fat percentage needs to be at least 17-22 percent. EXCESSIVE EXERCISE: Excessive exercising (or even lack of it) and drastic weight changes can decrease the body fat, being underweight can offset your hormone levels, thus contributing to irregular periods. BIRTH CONTROL PILLS: When some women stop taking the pill, their periods may take one to three months to return to normal. And this can also reveal an underlying hormonal problem that was masked by taking the birth control pills. PCOS: Polycystic ovary syndrome causes cysts to form on the ovaries, interfering with regular ovulation. In fact, PCOS is far more complicated than a missed period. Talk to your doctor about this condition. THYROID: Thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, can cause widespread symptoms like changes in estrogen and cortisol hormones and missed periods. OTHER REASONS: Some other reasons include perimenopause, menopause, pregnancy, certain medications you might be taking due to other health issues, and breastfeeding. Some home remedies you can try to treat irregular period problem: REDUCE STRESS: Breathe away stress by doing yoga and breathing exercises and meditation in the morning. Also, do kapalbhati and anulom-vilom pranayama for 15 mins each. CHASTE BERRY: The best known hormone balancing herb for women, Chaste berry helps to regulate the female gynecological system. It works by normalizing the secretions of the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, and ovaries, which then appropriately signal to balance the endocrine system. Note – This herb is not recommended if you are taking any fertility drug. It should not be consumed during pregnancy. SHATAVARI: Shatavari is also known to restore the balance of hormones in women. Mix it with equal amount of Ashwagandha and take 1 teaspoon with warm milk at night daily. OTHER HERBS: Some other herbs you can try to regain healthy menstruation: Holy basil (Tulsi), Black cohosh, licorice (Mulethi) root, turmeric, and Evening primerose oil. (If you are on medications, always consult your doctor first). DIETARY CHANGES: Drink carrot juice, aloe vera juice, grape juice. Add ginger, cinnamon, pumpkin seeds, green (unripe) papaya, sesame seeds (with Jaggery), Apple Cider Vinegar and wheat grass to your diet. Also eat other seasonal fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Most women return to healthy menstruation cycle following these remedies. However, if you don’t benefit from the above, you should see your gynaecologist immediately. Stay healthy, stay strong. LIVE FIT.

Dear user. Pregnancy depends on may factors like time of period of your girl friend, your sperm health etc. If you doubt that your sperm entered inside her vagina and the other conditions are satisfied, there is a chance of pregnancy. Take care.

Grade 3 placenta may be associated with other risk factors like growth problems, deceased fluid, high blood pressure etc. Treatment depends accordingly. Breech deliveries are better taken care by caeseaean section. However the baby may still rotate to head position in the mean time. If nedded, do see me as under:

Please take tablet trapic 650 or pause 500mg 3 times daily to reduce/ stop bleeding and take gynaec opinion, do sonography at around 6 weeks to see if fetal pole and cardiac activity has appeared in it. If it is there, then no need to worry. Bleeding can take place in case of miscarriage or even in healthy pregnancy. Pain may not be there. Preferably do internal sonography.

Hello Dr. My periods were from 20 December to 26 December, on 31 December we have unprotected sex. On 2nd January suddenly bleeding start and it remain till 7 January and it's only few drops of blood 2-3 times a day and also have foul smell. Tell me the reason for bleeding and what to do.

Hello, This could be an ovulation bleed or an implantation bleed which can be confirmed with a serum beta hcg test. If the test is positive then its an implantation bleed else ovulation bleed or possibly due to cervicitis. So you need to be examined.

Hi i Am 30 years unmarried women. I took primolut 5mg twice for five days. Due to absence of periods. Today is 4th day by finishing that. But still no periods. Why it is like that. When I can expect my periods?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Bundi
This is hormonal medicine but ayurveda people would not recommend it. There are no specific withdrawal symptoms if you stop primolut and but there is the possibility that the original complaints might re-occur. Rather vwe require you to take rajpravartini vati, kasisadi etc to correct your problem. If you like to get advise or package from us please write medical history, test reports if any etc.

My weight is 57 kg and having bmi 27.27. Little more than normal. I am also very short at my age in 18 is near 5 ft. I want to lose my weight and increase height too. My periods are also irregular (pcos). But my days pass in front of books I have nearly no tym for exercising. What to do?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, FCPS, DGO, Diploma of the Faculty of Family Planning (DFFP)
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Anyone who wants to reduce weight needs to do excercises and dieting both. If you don't pass time in front of books you don't get good exam results, same way if you don't do excercises and dieting you don't loose weight. Increase in height may not be possible, however you may try limb stretching excrcises like cycling, swimming, pull ups.
