My wife is 28 years old. After her second pregnancy, her one breast remain small in comparison with the other breast. A period of 2 years and 5 months has pass out after that second pregnancy but the breast is still small. What should we do to overcome this problem?

M Ch. Plastic Surgery, MS - General Surgery, MBBS

My wife is 28 years old. After her second pregnancy, her one breast remain small in comparison with the other breast....
Dear user Asymmetry of breasts is a very common finding and need not be worried until the size discrepancy is too much. Breast ptosis is the term used for loose breasts. It happens either with ageing as the skin and fibres in body become loose or in very lean patients or with sudden weight loss. Mastopexy is the surgical option for loose breasts;in this the breast becomes firm and also is lifted from sagging . Giving proper shape to breast increases the aesthetic appearance of breasts. Consult a plastic surgeon for that.

Likely to be infection. Maintain hygiene. Avoid intercourse unless the problem is solved. Avoid using ordinary soaps in that area. Get checked by gynecologist and take drugs accordingly.

In our country, majority of people don't go for routine health check up. But it is especially required in menopausal women. To have basic check up, screening for cancer and to decide whether they need hormone replacement therapy or not.

Ultra sound scan shows few well defined oval hypoechoic lesions are noted in superior and medial quadrant of right breast, largest measuring 2.6*1.2 cm ar 1 o'clock position .Is surgery necessary for this case?

BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
Dear user surgical is not an answer for any tumors as the chances of recurrence rises to three folds after surgery. The tendency needs to be corrected which is possible under Homeopathic medication for sometime. For now use the remedy calcarea flour 6x twice daily for a weeks time and consult back.

Vajikarana Therapy for Sexual Disorders in Ayurveda

Vajikarana Therapy for Sexual Disorders in Ayurveda

Sexuality has fascinated people in all walks of life from antiquity to the present. Healthy sexual functioning plays a fundamental role in maintaining harmony and happiness in married life. It is the most essential to fill the procreational, recreational and relational aspects of life.

It provides a means to express love, which is the basis for all kinds of creative activities. The absence of which hinders the marital relationship that leaves the frustration, at some point ends in divorce and causes inefficiency in performing routine duties.

Infertility is defined as failure to achieve a pregnancy after a year of unprotected regular intercourse with the same partner. Infertility also affects men and women. Living a healthy lifestyle is important for fertility. Lifestyle factors can affect a man’s fertility, and many of these factors are things that a man can control. Leading a healthy lifestyle improves not only the possibilities of conceiving but also improves overall health.

Ayurveda, the science of life, prevention and longevity, is the oldest and most complete holistic medical system available in the world. Its basic principles can be found in the Hindu scriptures called the Vedas, the ancient Indian books of wisdom written more than 5,000 years ago.

Ayurveda uses the principles inherent in nature to help preserve the health of a person by keeping the body, mind and spirit of the person in perfect balance with nature.

Ayurveda has developed a special branch to deal with the problems of infertility known as Vajikarana, which means: make us potent as a vaji “horse”. The name derives from the fact that horses have always been a symbol of virility in ancient cultures.

Ayurveda states that reproductive health depends on the health of shukra and atharv dhatu, or reproductive tissue, in both men and women respectively. In women tissue atharv produces the ovum as part of the monthly cycle, and men produce semen.

The quality of the breeding juices is directly related to the quality of the other tissues. The physical body consists of seven tissues (dhatu): plasma, blood, muscles, fat, bones, nerves and finally the reproductive tissue. The food we eat is metabolized in the digestive system and transformed – through agni, or fire – into nutrients for our body. These nutrients are what will make up the first tissue, plasma.

From there, the other tissues are being form one by one using as part of the subsequent tissue as the base material. The height of this process is reached when part of the reproductive tissue is transformed into an eighth tissue, subtle in nature, known as ojas (an essence that gives us immunity, brilliance, strength, splendor and vitality)

Infertility can often be associated with deficiency in the correct production of body tissues, poor quality of agni, as well as the presence of toxins due to inadequate diet and lifestyle.

There are two types of foods and herbs that help improve shukra dhatu, and thus help improve fertility. Some are called bringhana, and these foods strengthen the seven dhatus. The second type is called vrishya and these foods and herbs are for the shukra dhatu in particular. Bringhana foods are fresh organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk proteins, soaked almonds and walnuts, natural sweets, juicy fruits like mangos and dried fruits like figs. Vrishya foods are asparagus, broccoli, happy cow’s milk and spices like cumin seeds and coriander, shatavari, kapikachu and kalamusli.

Types of vajikarana

Ayurveda considers all substances that enhance the sexual activity as vajikarana dravyas and may include herbs, ornaments, gold, silver, pearls, precious stones etc. Vajikarana dravyas include the following:

Semen enhancing like milk, ghee, gokshura, shatavari, yashtimadhu etc. Semen purifying like kushtha, sugar cane, bayberry etc. Promoting fertilization capacity in semen like brahmi, shatavari, katuka, guduchi etc. Libido increasing like akarakarabha, saffron, clove, garlic, pippali etc. Premature ejaculation preventing like nutmeg, ashwagandha, chandan, jatamansi etc.

Benefits of vajikarana therapy:

Increases the time span of erections. Cure erectile dysfunction. Prevents premature ejaculation. Stimulates man for sexual acts to satisfy females without getting tire. Transforms lean and impotent men into powerful and vigorous. Facilitates in procreation of healthy off springs. Increases sexual energy and strength like a horse. Increases will power, intellect and memory in addition to promoting a healthy body.

Symptoms and Treatment of Agoraphobia

Master Of Science In Counseling & Psychotherapy
Psychologist, Bangalore
Symptoms and Treatment of Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia can be defined as the fear of being in a situation from which one cannot escape or a situation that humiliates the person. This causes people to avoid situations that they anticipate to be humiliating. Such a situation makes the person feel trapped and helpless. Everyday situations like standing in a queue, getting into an elevator, using public transport etc. can trigger Agoraphobia.

Agoraphobia affects more women than men. It usually affects people under the age of 35, but can sometimes affect older people as well. Having a relative in the immediate family circle that suffers from this condition can also increase a person's risk of suffering from it as well. Additionally, the death of a parent or loved one or domestic abuse could also trigger such behavior. Depression and alcohol or drug abuse could also increase a person's risk of suffering from this psychological disorder.

This phobia usually develops after a person experiences panic attacks or goes through an extremely stressful experience. Some typical symptoms of Agoraphobia include:

  1. The fear of being alone
  2. Fear of crowded places
  3. Fear of being in locked places from where you cannot escape
  4. Fear of losing control of one's actions
  5. Inability to leave the house alone
  6. Helplessness
  7. Being overly dependent on others

You may also experience symptoms similar to those of a panic attack, such as excessive sweating, breathing difficulty, dizziness, diarrhea and chest pain.

An in depth interview with a counselor or doctor can help diagnose such a condition. A physical examination can also help rule out other health conditions that could be triggering such a reaction. To be diagnosed with Agoraphobia the patient needs to present at least two of the below symptoms:

  1. Severe fear of public transportation
  2. Fear of being in an open space such as a parking lot or mall
  3. Fear of being in closed spaces such as movie halls or elevators
  4. Fear of standing in line
  5. Fear of being in a crowd
  6. Fear of leaving home alone

Treatment for such a condition involves medication and psychotherapy. Anti depressants and anti anxiety medications are commonly used to treat such disorders. There are a number of different types of such medication and you may need to experiment with them before finding one that suits you. Psychotherapy or talk therapy focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy that reduces anxiety symptoms and teaches patients how to deal with fears. If you fear leaving the home alone, you could take someone along with you or consult a therapist who can offer you telephonic advice, through email or meet you at your home.

It's too late to prevent pregnancy since you have crossed the 72 hours of sexual encounter. Now what you can do is to ask her to take an home pregnancy test with the first urine sample in the morning once she wakes up for accurate result. Please always practice safe sex to not only avoid unwanted pregnancy but also sexually transmitted infections. Kindly consult a good competent sexologist for advice and guidance. Should you need my advice you can consult me online about what to do at this point in time. Thank you.

Corporate life many a times makes an individual to stay late night awake and sleep in day time. This practice for a prolonged duration may cause many irregularities in physical and mental health of an individual like sleeplessness, anxiety etc.

Ayurveda gives an advice to avoid the bad effects of Day sleep and working night.

7-8 hrs of night sleep on an average if considered as healthy sleep (10 pm - 6 am) and IF ONE MISSES 4 HRS OF NIGHT SLEEP, Ayurveda advises him to SLEEP FOR ONLY 2 HRS THE NEXT DAY.

This helps the body to adjust for better metabolic activities.

If you have a missed period then you should get urine pregnancy test done at home after 7 days of missed period to confirm it. Irregual menses are very common among girls and it occurs because of hormonal changes. If she had menses after last sexual activity, she can not be pregnant.
