Hi, I am 17 years old, of course I'm male, My problem is that when I work in pc or any electronic device then I feel a short term pain in my head and falling the tears in my eyes. What I do?

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hi. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. Also you could use a preservative free lubricant drop for the eyes (3-4 times a day). This will aid in keeping your eyes moist. Hope my suggestions help you. Take care. Cheers.

Apply a lavender for sleep which is a natural medicine avender is a gentle strengthening tonic for the nervous system. A few drops of lavender oil added to a bath before bedtime are recommended for persons with sleep disorders. Additionally, the oil may be used as a compress or massage oil or simply inhaled to alleviate insomnia. Dose: Tea, 1 cup 2-3 x daily; Essential oil–oil may be inhaled, massaged into the skin (use 10 drops essential oil per ounce of vegetable oil), or added to baths (3-10 drops).

I have eye sight and would like get it cleared by LASIK surgery. Could anyone one suggest any good treatment for this?

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
Lasik is a simple laser procedure which changes the shape of the cornea so that the light rays fall on the retina properly. It is a painless procedure. It is a day care procedure does not require any injections, does not require admission, you can simply resume your duties in 2 days. We can do lasik anytime after age of 18 years. You need to undergo proper prelasik checkup to decide whether lasik is safe for you or not. Lasik surgery has become pretty safe and predictable now a days.

There is no such eye drops which reduce the Myopic power , you may keep your eye healthy with the help of swimming , yoga ,gym , pranayam & lots of green vegetables & seasonal fruits , only way to remove power is LASIK or Smile LASIK.

The power you mentioned can be usually corrected by Laser. However, you will first need a topography and thickness measurement of cornea, based on which your eligibility can be determined.

Hello, you should do these exercises to strengthen the ocular muscles. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

I have eye problem, I cannot see far distance object. Give me some advice for wearing lens or glass.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Although both options are equally good but Glasses is a one time investment and you can use it according to your requirement during the day but for contact lens, you need extra care while handling and using. You cannot use it roughly and needs extra care otherwise if slight neglegency.,it can cause eye injury. Moreover Contact lens usage is slight expensive and time consuming as compared to glasses.

I have eye problem as my eye usually showing painful as my eye size is small will you suggest me what to do?

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Is that pain associated with redness, diminution of vision or any other symptoms? if yes then it's of infective origin. Else if none of these present and you are using /not using glasses in either case get your refraction done. May be the number might have changed. If your vision is normal, you have to go for orthoptic checkups which may be probable cause for asthenopic symptoms.
