I am suffering from snapping perineal tendon by the result of an accident which happen 5 weeks ago. I met an orthopedic doctor. My doctor suggested me with a surgery. For now I am wearing an ankle binder. But problem still exist. What should I do? If I do the surgery .how much time will it take to recover? I am a student. By how much weeks I can go to class. Pls help.

Snapping peroneal tendon can cause long term problem if not treated. The usual treatment is by surgery. The tendon is usually put back in place and the fascia covering it is repaired so that it does not dislocate in movement. Recovery time depends on your condition of the tendon and its repair. It is best decided by your operating surgeon. You will need to stay away from heavy activities and sports for atleast 2-3 months. However you should be able to attend class after 2 weeks.

i would advise you to go for mri lumbosacral spine to rule out vertebral or disc disease....painkillers will give short relief...avoid prolonged standing or sitting and carrying haevy loads..visit ur nearby neurologist. good luck

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

My mother suffering for her back pain & joint pain from last couple of years. What can I do?

Stiffness & pain in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikind plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have back pain since a long time for which we will require evaluation. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like mri of your affected region of spine, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Don't neglect the problem. It is the complication of diabetes. Whether it may be peripheral vascular disease or diabetic peripheral neuropathy. 1) do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min. Afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) start natural calcium supplement. 3) do regular stretching exercise 4) in yoga do bhujangasan, halasan & suryanamaskar. I am 38 year old male, have a travelling job, average weight (80Kg Height 174 cm (5" 8. I am having pain in my right Knee. I have got an X-Ray done; no issues with Bones. There is a kind of throbbing pain on right side of right knee when kept in folded position; also have slight pain on inner side left of the right knee. I am walking and working without much discomfort but while sitting and lying down pain is felt. I have applied Crepe Bandage in night with a pain balm.

Hello. I have gone through your question about knee pain. I understand your concern. I feel that these symptoms are because of your weight. You will have to reduce your weight. Atleast 15 kg over 2 years period. You need diet modification. Stop oily food. Don't eat rice at night. Very low calories diet at night atleast 2 hours prior to sleeping. Take vitamin B12 medicines. Calcium and Vitamin D medicines. You will feel better.

Hi Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya vatari syrup and capsule twice a day. And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day.

Pain in legs is a common condition. Do hot fomentation keep a pillow under the legs at night &/when resting. Any way take bio d3 max 1tab odx10days ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days do knee exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Your leg pain and shoulder pain---* walking regularly at slow pace and gentle movement of your shoulder without unduly straining helps as it improves blood circulation around knee and eases the joint. *you can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good. Coconut oil will be soothing in summer. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take bryonia 200---twice daily morning and evening and give feedback after 7 days.

Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.
