Brush at least twice a day. The best time to brush teeth is after meals. Choose a toothbrush with a small head for better access to back teeth. Soft bristles are kinder on your gums.

- Use fluoridated toothpaste. Fluoride helps to harden tooth enamel and reduces your risk of decay.

- Brush thoroughly. Tooth brushing should take between two and three minutes.

- Floss your teeth daily. Use a slow and gentle sawing motion.

- Limit acidic drinks like soft drinks, cordials and fruit juices. Food acids soften tooth material and dissolve the minerals in tooth enamel, causing holes (cavities or caries). In severe cases, teeth may be 'eaten'right down to the gum.

- Limit sugary foods. Bacteria in dental plaque change sugars into acids.

- Protect your teeth from injury. Wear a mouthguard or full-face helmet when playing sports.

- Try to save a knocked out tooth. If possible, hold the tooth back in place while you seek immediate dental advice. If this is not possible, wrap the tooth in plastic or place it in milk and seek dental advice immediately.

- Avoid using your teeth for anything other than chewing food. If you use them to crack nuts, remove bottle tops or rip open packaging, you risk chipping or even breaking your teeth.

- See your dentist for regular check-ups. You should also visit your dentist if you have a dental problem such as a toothache or bleeding gums.

Ice munching won’t destroy your health like other addictions will. But the dental damage that comes from chewing on ice often include cracked and chipped teeth, damage to tooth enamel, problems with existing dental work such as fillings and crowns, and sore jaw muscles. You may also find your teeth become extremely sensitive to hot and cold drinks and foods, and are more prone to cavities.

You have cavity in your teeth, that may be the reason for pus discharge. Cavity for long time develops chronic infection. It can spread to your adjacent facial spaces in acute exacerbation. It does not spread to brain. Tooth can be saved by root canal if adequate structure is left. Better consult dentist in person at clinic.

You can save your teeth depending on infection present coz the nerve in the tooth is dead so instead of removing the tooth you can restore by rct followed by crown.

Sensitivity is directly related to teeth wear away.. That is cervical abrasion( caused by faulty tooth brushing technique), attrition( teething or night grinding habit) or by erosion( caused by intake of aerated drinks).. These can be treated by either fillings or night guard appliance depending on the exact cause.. If left untreated then ends up with RCTs with crown, which is not necessary.. As u knw, tooth paste will just relives the symptoms but not the cause.. So plz do visit the dentist to know the exact cause and accordingly the treatment plan..
