Hello, thanx for the query. You are having gum problem calling gingivitis. You need dental scaling done by dentist. At home you can do one thing. Take a glass of warm water add 1 tps salt gargle 2 to 3 times a day daily for a week. For bad breath use mouth wash and clean tongue. For more you can consult me. Thank you drjagrati.

Good dental hygiene with proper brushing and flossing every day. Avoid sugar and refined carbohydrates. The diet recommended in grow youthful is perfect for dental health and the promotion of good bacteria in your mouth. Professional dental cleaning using special instruments to remove plaque/calculus/tartar below the gum line. It usually takes about three to four months for microbial plaque to grow back to pre-cleaning levels, but good dental hygiene and diet can markedly slow or prevent the recurrence of these bacteria and plaque. After the initial cleaning a second appointment two months later will show if improved dental hygiene and diet are effective. If there are any gum pockets with a depth greater than 5 mm which persist, these may need more specialised cleaning or even surgery, or they will likely lead to further bone loss over time. Mouthwash (sodium bicarbonate, hydrogen peroxide). I do not recommend commercial mouthwashes because they contain synthetic chemicals that are absorbed through your mouth and are probably toxic, and may prevent the formation of a healthy bacterial biome in your mouth.

Can anyone give me a review of Root canal Treatment Vs Dental Implants? I wanted some info on How painful is process in both? Which one feels (more) like teeth and chew like teeth? Which one to prefer? Which one is costly and Why?

x-ray is must for your case discussion. If tooth is firm and can save do RCT followed by crown. If tooth can not be saved do extraction followed by replacement by implant or bridge. life of tooth increase after RCT >10yrs. RCT less expensive compare to bridge or Implant.

Sensitivity In Teeth

Sensitivity In Teeth

Is the taste of ice cream or a sip of hot coffee sometimes a painful experience for you? Does brushing or flossing make you wince occasionally? If so, you may have sensitive teeth.

Possible causes include:

In healthy teeth, a layer of enamel protects the crowns of your teeth—the part above the gum line. Under the gum line a layer called cementum protects the tooth root. Underneath both the enamel and the cementum is dentin.
Dentin is less dense than enamel and cementum and contains microscopic tubules (small hollow tubes or canals). When dentin loses its protective covering of enamel or cementum these tubules allow heat and cold or acidic or sticky foods to reach the nerves and cells inside the tooth. Dentin may also be exposed when gums recede. The result can be hypersensitivity.

Sensitive teeth can be treated. The type of treatment will depend on what is causing the sensitivity. Your dentist may suggest one of a variety of treatments:

  • Desensitizing toothpaste. This contains compounds that help block transmission of sensation from the tooth surface to the nerve, and usually requires several applications before the sensitivity is reduced.
  • Fluoride gel. An in-office technique which strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the transmission of sensations.
  • A crown, inlay or bonding. These may be used to correct a flaw or decay that results in sensitivity.
  • Surgical gum graft. If gum tissue has been lost from the root, this will protect the root and reduce sensitivity.
  • Root canalIf sensitivity is severe and persistent and cannot be treated by other means, your dentist may recommend this treatment to eliminate the problem.

Proper oral hygiene is the key to preventing sensitive-tooth pain. Ask your dentist if you have any questions about your daily oral hygiene routine or concerns about tooth sensitivity.

I am suffering damaged teeth incase that teeth removed what happened right side upper last teeth.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery

I am suffering damaged teeth incase that teeth removed what happened right side upper last teeth.
In your case if the right upper last tooth is 3rd molar then extraction of it will not require any replacement teeth. The 3rd molars are not very functional tooth and do not play any major role in eating and chewing. Therefore even if you lose it then there would not be any significant impact. However if your last right upper teeth is 2nd molar you might need to get prosthodontic replacement especially if the right lower 2nd molar is still present, otherwise the lower 2nd molar might get elongated in absence of upper 2nd molar.
