How I remove plaque from my teeth? It is yellow in colour and it looks too bad when I am talking with someone.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
How I remove plaque from my teeth? It is yellow in colour and it looks too bad when I am talking with someone.
For better looking teeth, the first and most important thing is that you teeth should be clean, and free from plaque (accumulated food debris) and stains. For that, you must get professional scaling/cleaning done from a dentist. After that, you can head for tooth whitening procedures such as bleaching and laser tooth whitening. Home remedies such as lemon peel and apple cider vinegar can be used, but being acidic in nature, they eventually wear off the outermost layer of teeth (enamel) making them weak in the long run. So better go for trusted scientific procedures. Hope that helps.

Is there any solution to fill the space between teeth. And how more time it will take, because I wanna do as soon as possible. Please suggest me. Thank you.

Dentist, Gorakhpur
Is there any solution to fill the space between teeth. And how more time it will take, because I wanna do as soon as ...
Yes there are many solutions available you must see a dentist. He will check and decide the treatment. He might suggest you fixed braces. But need to check whether the spacing is generalized or just in between 2or 3 tooth. Spacing can also be due to certain habits which might lay necessity for habit breaking appliance prior to any other treatment. So cannot mention time here.

Quit habits strictly. Seems like you have oral submucous fibrosis (osmf). Kindly consult an oral & maxillo facial surgeon in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need conservative or surgical management for mouth opening depending upon the stage of osmf. Advise full mouth opening, ballooning exercise & side to side movement of the jaw. Wrap 25 to 30 ice-cream sticks, make a bundle, put it between upper & lower front teeth for 15 minutes thrice a day increase 1 sticks each day.

I am Soham Bhattacharyya . My teeth have become yellowish. please give your advice .
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

Hi , you must get your tooth checked by dentist. In pregnancy, due to effect of hormones, gum becomes soft & spongy so becomes more prone to infections which ultimately leads to tooth damage. So regular brushing, flossing & dental check up is must. Strict no to home remedies. Inform your dentist about pregnancy so he can advise you" pregnancy safe" treatment.

Teeth Grinding

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Teeth Grinding
Grinding your teeth or clenching your jaws? it's called bruxism, and often it happens as you sleep and is often caused by stress.

Teeth grinding can be caused not just by stress and anxiety but by sleep disorders, an abnormal bite or teeth that are missing or crooked. The symptoms of teeth grinding include:

Dull headaches
Jaw soreness
Teeth that are painful or loose
Fractured teeth
Your dentist can fit you with a mouth guard to protect your teeth during sleep. In some cases, your dentist or physician may recommend taking a muscle relaxant before bedtime. If stress is the cause you need to find a way to relax. Meditation, counseling and exercise can all help reduce stress and anxiety.

Teeth grinding is also common in children. However, because their teeth and jaws change and grow so quickly it is not usually a damaging habit that requires treatment and most outgrow it by adolescence.

Although in adults teeth grinding is often the result of stress, the same is not always true with children. Other possible causes of teeth grinding in children include:

Irritation in the mouth
Allergies
Misaligned teeth

Keep smiling
Be happy

Dear bleeding gums, most commonly result from gum inflammation (swelling) due to tartar / plaque deposition on teeth. Brush twice a day, rinse vigorously after every meal and get a professional cleaning of your teeth done. That should resolve your problem.

Hi, if there is pain in the same tooth in which root canal treatment was got done, then the cause could be secondary infection which causing pain or else the cap (if you have got it fitted) is not of proper size and that is irritating the surrounding area. Visit your dentist again to know the exact cause of pain as well as the condition of your tooth. For the time being to alleviate the pain, apply homoeopathic medicine - plantago q/ few drops on cotton swab, place it on the affected tooth/ teeth and press it tightly, do it thrice a day. Orally, take mag. Phos. 6x/ after every 2 hours. Home-remedies: -rub a few drops of clove oil or can even press 2-3 cloves in between the teeth on the affected tooth several times daily until the ache goes away. -rub a few drops on the affected tooth several times daily until the ache goes away. -apply a cool compress to outside of mouth or cheek. -mix 1 tsp of salt in a glass of warm water. Rinse your mouth with saltwater. Swirl it around in your mouth and spit it out. Make sure that you don't swallow. -soak a cotton ball in a mixture of a few drops of garlic clove oil and a small amount of olive oil, and apply the cotton ball to the area of pain.

Here are some tips to help you look after your teeth.

1. Brush at least twice a day.
The best time to brush teeth is after meals. Choose a toothbrush with a small head for better access to back teeth. Soft bristles are kinder on your gums.

2. Use fluoridated toothpaste.
Fluoride helps to harden tooth enamel and reduces your risk of decay.

3. Brush thoroughly.
Tooth brushing should take between two and three minutes.

4. Floss your teeth daily.
Use a slow and gentle sawing motion.

5. Limit acidic drinks like soft drinks, cordials and fruit juices.
Food acids soften tooth material and dissolve the minerals in tooth enamel, causing holes (cavities or caries). In severe cases, teeth may be ‘eaten’ right down to the gum.

6. Limit sugary foods.
Bacteria in dental plaque change sugars into acids.

7. Protect your teeth from injury.
Wear a mouth guard or full-face helmet when playing sports.

8. Try to save a knocked out tooth.
If possible, hold the tooth back in place while you seek immediate dental advice. If this is not possible, wrap the tooth in plastic or place it in milk and seek dental advice immediately.

9. Avoid using your teeth for anything other than chewing food.
If you use them to crack nuts, remove bottle tops or rip open packaging, you risk chipping or even breaking your teeth.

10. See your dentist for regular check-ups.
You should also visit your dentist if you have a dental problem such as a toothache or bleeding gums.
