Sleep is as Important as Food

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Sleep is as Important as Food

"With advent of gadgets and night life, many have become sleep deprived off late. There is also a fallacy you need to sleep early and wake up early, whcih is medically untrue. The duration of sleep is of paramount importance for a healthy life. An average of 8 hours of sleep prevents stress, obesity, cardiac illness, immune related disorders, and many more. Minimum one needs 6 hours of sleep, maximum 10 hours. The benefits of dieting, workouts are all negated in the absence of adequate sleep leading to higher morbidity and mortality. Sleep well and be healthy." - Dr. Jagadeesan. (Psychiatrist)

Hi your scoliosis is called degenerative scoliosis. Which can cause back pain because of wear and tear. Only thing anyone can do is mainly to control pain, but can not be treated completely. With you r other heart problems - you can still try some swimming if possible. Regarding the medication - you should try pregabalin + methylcobalamin will help regarding the pains. Furthur assessment by mri scans and clinically too.

Perhaps your high blood pressure and hormonal imbalance and cervical vertebral incomplete segmentation are the problems. You need a proper treatment for some months/year to get rid of your complaints. Please maintain a normal blood pressure by doing morning walks/exercises/taking low fat diet/complete avoidance of non-veg items. Continue treatment.

Insomnia And Homeopathy

Insomnia And Homeopathy
  • Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which a person finds it difficult to fall asleep or to stay asleep. Insomnia also includes poor sleep quality, restless sleep, waking up several times during sleep, and feeling un-refreshed or tired after waking up. Homeopathy provides a very safe, effective and non-habit forming treatment of both types of insomnia — acute and chronic. Since the homeopathic medicines are sourced from natural substances, there are no side-effects.
  • While insomnia lasting less than a month is considered acute, if the condition continues for more than a month, it is referred to as chronic insomnia. There are various causes of insomnia. The prominent ones are stress, grief, depression, emotional disturbance, intake of stimulants like coffee and alcohol, and a huge number of medical reasons (like heart diseases, breathing disorders, thyroid problems, and rheumatoid arthritis). Insomnia is also one of the major concerns in elderly people.
  • Homoeopathy has natural remedies to cure this disorder permanently
  • You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects.

What is the meaning of sclerosis along the anterior aspect of si joints? Is it hardening of the bones or tissues surrounding si joints? Please help me. I am worried a lot.

Any condition that alters the normal walking pattern places increased stress on the si joints. This could include a leg length discrepancy (one leg longer than the other), or pain in the hip, knee, ankle, or foot. Patients with severe pain in the lower extremity often develop problems with either the lower back (lumbar spine) or si joints. Usually, if the underlying problem is treated, the associated lumbar spine or si joint dysfunction will also improve. There are many disorders that affect the joints of the body that can also cause inflammation in the si joints. These include gout, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. These are all various forms of arthritis that can affect all joints. Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory arthritis that always affects the si joints. It can lead to stiffness and severe pain in the si joints, due to inflammation in the sacroiliac joints (sacroiliitis). As the disease process continues, the si joints can fuse together and have no range of motion. Once this occurs, there is no further pain associated with the si joints. Rarely, bacterial infection can involve the sacroiliac joints you need a check up.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hi, Migraine can be triggered by a variety of causes, most common causes are certain food items, lack of sleep or any lifestyle issues. First step towards management of Migraine would be avoiding such triggers. Home remedies would not be a cure for issues like migraine. If the correct type of Migraine is identified, most of the issues can be usually in 3-4 months. Wish you the best Take care.
