Eat green veggies. Carrots. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. If needed wear corrective spectacles. These r few things you can take care of. Otherwise as such no options available which wd increases your eyesight.

Sir I am 22 years old and suffering from eye weakness and currently having a specs 1.5 please suggest me a better diet.
Hello lybrate-user. Let me enumerate the diet necessary for healthy eyes. (1) green leafy vegetables including spinach, sprouts, cabbage, beetroot. (2) fruits-blue-berries, black-berries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, grapes, pineapple, pomegranate, grapes, guava. (3) dry-fruits: almonds, walnuts, apricots, dates. (4) cereals: oats, barley, millets. (5) drink a cup of green tea daily. (6) drink a glass of milk daily. The basic essence to healthy eyes is in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition to a proper diet, a proper posture and proper sleep patterns are essential. Also, addiction to tobacco and smoking tends to harm the eyes in a bad manner. These should be refrained. Thus, maintain a diet rich in antioxidants. These substances are present in good proportions in the previously mentioned list. Hope my suggestions helped you.

How to maintain my eyes glass power? Because its increasing year by year. Please advise.
Whats your age? eye power generally stabilizes by the age of 20 years. So if you are below 20 you have to wait and if you are above 40 then it might be due to cataract. For betterment of your eyes have more green vegetables and carrots in your diet.

I have been suffering from eye problem. My left was watering from last year so how to cure it.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
I have been suffering from eye problem. My left was watering from last year so how to cure it.
Watering of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) refractive error in the eye: glasses power for the eyes tends to cause watering and discomfort. Again, in this regard you need to get an eye check up with refractive assessment done. Let me know if you need any further guidance regarding the complains.

I am 20 year old boy. My eyes is very small. What should I do now. please suggest me some tips for my eyes?
Hello lybrate-user. The size of the eyes is genetically determined. I would advice you not to worry regarding the size of your eyes. Let me suggest some tips for healthy eyes. Let me enumerate the diet necessary for healthy eyes. (1) green leafy vegetables including spinach, sprouts, cabbage, beetroot. (2) fruits-blue-berries, black-berries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, grapes, pineapple, pomegranate, grapes, guava. (3) dry-fruits: almonds, walnuts, apricots, dates. (4) cereals: oats, barley, millets. (5) drink a cup of green tea daily. (6) drink a glass of milk daily. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers, mobile phones and books. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. You could consider preservative free lubricant eye drops 4 to 5 times daily. These eye drops would ensure that your eyes stay well lubricated and fresh. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. You could also use a preservative free lubricant eye drop 4 to 5 times in a day. Also, adequate sleep of 7 hours a day is essential in order to maintain healthy eyes. Daily exercise for an hour would also ensure the maintenance of good healthy eyes. The exercise could be anything from gymming to running or playing a sport. Washing your eyes with clean hands and clean water gently (3 to 4 times in a day) also helps to keep them healthy. All these suggestions may take some time to be imbibed in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work well for you. Refrain from addiction to tobacco chewing or smoking. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

My eyelid is inching since 3 days, I am using ceprofloxin. Eye drop. But when I o look at mobile screen problem again persist.? Shall I do.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
My eyelid is inching since 3 days, I am using ceprofloxin. Eye drop. But when I o look at mobile screen problem again...
Mobile screen is made up of hundreds of tiny pixels that are constantly moving. Our eyes in turn are not naturally able to set focus on these constantly moving pixels, and hence we try to focus on an area behind the actual screen. Therefore, in order to work on a mobile, our eyes need to keep on fluctuating focus between their natural point of focus and the pixels on the screen. And this tires the eyes and causes a lot of wear and tear.As a result, we suffer from irritation, which may range from a number of things like headaches, dry eyes, blurred vision, problems in focusing and faulty color perception, to something as severe as glaucoma. The electromagnetic waves that are emitted by a mobile phone can be extremely damaging to the eyes. It has been studied and well documented that these cell phone waves can have a damaging effect on the various parts of the eye, including the retina and the cornea. Moreover, they can cause cataract too. Moreover it is more distressing for our eyes to view contents on a tiny screen which requires even more concentration and extenive usage of eyes without blinking thus causing Eye dryness making them vulnerable to frequent Eye problemss. . The solution for this problem I its reduced usage and while uing mobiles use them inproper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the mobile’s screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of mobile usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine EUPHRASIA 30 ( Dr Reckeweg) drink 2 drops direct on tongue every 2-3 hrly till symptoms lats EUPHRASIA EYE DROPS ( SBL ) pour 2 drops in both eyes 3 times daily

And I got jetlagged at 3 am to 4 am and used to wake up at 11 am in the morning. And in June I got burning sensation in my eyes because of vigorous computer browsing for colleges and replying mails and for Usa universities negotiations now I got an admission in a reputed college in hyderabad. Now the problem here is from 8 am to night 12 pm I use to sit in front of computer and after 6 pm at practice time I am getting mild eye pain and headache and I can't concentrate on studies. I fell a black spot in left eye when I see any thing after the eye checking. Why?
How we improved eye tightness?
Hello this black spot is due to blanching of cones present in central part of eye (fovea) after exposure to light after few seconds it again regenerates and again vision becomes clear and black spot disappears for eye tightness 1. Eat balanced diet 2. Blink a lot 3. Wash your eyes with fresh water everyday 4. Do some eye exercise like rotating eye in circular manner for 2 minutes.

I am 34 year old male from delhi. I am suffering from floaters in both eyes for about 16 months now. Otherwise my eyesight is perfect so I don't wear glasses. I have shown to a very reputed retina specialist twice and they say my eyes are ok. But they can not help for the floaters. Please advise.

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
Sometimes floaters happen due to degeneration in the vitreous. If the retina specialist has done an indirect ophthalmoscopy and cleared you then you do not have to worry. It is also possible that you are just appreciating normal entoptic phenomenon where sometimes we can see the blood cells that pass through the retinal blood vessels. So as I said if the reitna specialist has given you clearance, there is no need for worry.
