I have problem in my teeth I am chewing and eat tobacco so many year right now bleeding into my mouth and till today ...
Bleeding is due to gum infection. Go for scaling and polishing. Use a mouthwash twice daily after brushing. Maintain proper oral hygiene habits.

Kind of toothbrush to be used by adults: we recommend a brush with soft bristles which helps in removing the plaque and debris thoroughly from the mouth.

Tooth Sensitivity - 4 Ways You Can Prevent it

Tooth Sensitivity - 4 Ways You Can Prevent it

Tooth sensitivity can be best described with the symptom of a sharp pain that you feel in your teeth when you sip something hot or cold. It is this contact of the drink with the sensitive tooth that causes the sharp pain. Extremely cold climate and eating something which is sweet or sour can cause the sensitive teeth to cause such a sensation, thus making it uncomfortable for you to eat anything.

The most common causes of sensitive teeth are as follows:
1. Tooth decay near the gum line can cause the teeth to be sensitive
2. Consumption of highly acidic foods and beverages
3. Using a hard tooth brush and aggressive brushing can lead to erosion of tooth enamel and cause tooth sensitivity
4. Plague buildup and gum diseases cause tooth sensitivity which may require you to consult your dentist immediately

However, there are many precautions that dentists recommend which can prevent your tooth from becoming sensitive. These are:
1. Gently brush your teeth and use a tooth brush that has soft bristles. This can prevent any damage to the enamel.
2. Apply proper technique to clean all parts of your mouth and teeth. You should also rinse your mouth properly with antiseptic mouthwash and fluoride.
3. You should eat a well-balanced diet which is low in acidic content. Soft drinks and cold drinks should be avoided as they can damage the enamel on your teeth.
4. Using desensitizing toothpaste can help reduce the pain associated with sensitivity.

Hyper sensitive tooth needs proper treatment and you should immediately consult your dentist. There are many dental procedures ranging from simple to complex ones, aimed towards controlling pain and sensitivity. Root canal and application of fluoride to the sensitive areas of your teeth can help reduce pain. Root canal is a treatment at the tooth’s soft core and is considered the most successful treatment to eliminate the pain associated with infected tooth without the need to remove it.

Swelling may cure with antibiotics, but it will recurr, as the source of infection is still there, better consult a dentist, get an x ray done, and do as advised, start doing salt water gargle in mean time, and do not eat anything hot.

BDS
Dentist,
I do have gaps between my teeth after brasses, now what should I do?
If gaps are not more, then it can be covered with composite filling material. Which is tooth color only. So no change in color after filling also.

My one side of face /jaw is more muscular than other. This has caused face unsymmetrical. please help. I dint had it ...
Open your mouth as if you are talking with someone. Now pull both the lips inwards and the corner of your mouth outwards. Try to stretch the corners of your lips as wide as possible. Now hold the face for a minute and relax. Do this exercise at least five times a day for better results.

I am 23 female I have braces before now I have a string like brace inside of the teeth. That string got broken when I byte coconut. Its irritating me a lot when i am talking its getting to my tongue and i am getting blood from the tongue. Is there any solution for my problem?

Dentist, Belgaum
Go to your dentist as early as possible and get it corrected, till you get appointment from your orthodontist. Coz it may lead to severe injury to your tongue again making keeping your braces difficult for you, which may delay your treatment.

Since fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots and corn require continous biting, their consumption should be avoided during orthodontic treatment.

Quit Tobacco, Welcome life
Tobacco in any form is harmful for our teeth, gums, heart, or in short for our whole body. One should try to quit tobacco by reducing the quantity and frequency of tobacco consumption. Keep yourself busy, avoid meeting people with habit of tobacco. Drink plenty of water. Avoid soft drinks. And start feeling good with slowly leaving tobacco. Few medicines and chewing gums also help in this if you want to stop habit at one go.

Afraid of cavities? Chew some gum!

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Afraid of cavities? Chew some gum!
As many people eat food away from their home, it may not be easy to floss or use a mouthwash to gargle. A great alternative is to chew a sugar-free gum immediately after eating. This is something that could be carried around easily, and could supplement the oral care routine. It helps reduce the risk of cavities.

Research has shown that chewing sugar-free gum for 20 minutes after eating or drinking can help reduce tooth decay risk by up to 40 percent !
