My father is 76 years old. Has a history of seizure, hypertension. He is suffering from low sodium and potassium since 8 Aug 15. And since then he's been in and out of hospital. We are consulting a neurologist from a reputed hospital but his condition isnt any better in all these days. Pls suggest who should we meet for further advice. Thanks.

Dyselectrolytemia is the cause of his seizures. Serum sodium and potassium have very small normal ranges and its crucial to maintain both. It does take time for it to normalize at his age so you should have patience. Proper fluid intake and diet is a must. He should be screened for any endocrinological etiology. Neurology consultation is mandatory. Take care.

Migraines are characteristically throbbing, intrusive and sometimes, prolonged headache accompanied by sensitivity to sound and light and the feeling of nausea. They are fairly common and usually treatable with home remedies and allopathic drugs. The word migraine has been derived from another word ‘hemicranias’ which means one sided headache. Headaches resulting from migraines tend to occur in episodes rather than being regular. Additionally, the intensity of a migraine will also vary with some attacks being very severe while other attacks will be a lot more moderate. The pain is often accompanied by nausea or vomiting.
Homeopathy may play an efficient role in the treatment of migraines. Homeopathic medicines are prescribed based on the type, duration and intensity of the migraine attacks and are most often helpful in their treatment.

Homeopathy aims to cure the headache from its very root without attracting side effects. Some of the common homeopathic medicines include:

  1. Belladonna: This is one of the most common homeopathic drugs prescribed for migraines. This medicine aims to cure the throbbing character of the migraine in the temporal region, which is further induced by light and sound.
  2. Spigelia: This is useful to treat headaches arising from the left hemisphere of the brain that is fairly common among individuals experiencing migraines. Additionally, there would be an occurrence of severe pain in the eyeballs which might be worsened by excess movement of the eyes.
  3. Glonoinum: This medicine works fairly well with congestive headaches which are accompanied by a constant feeling of blood rushing to the head. You might also feel shocks in your head.
  4. Sanguinaria Canadensis: This is prescribed in case of headaches that form from the back of the skull and settle prominently in the right hemisphere of the skull. The eyes also tend to throb; another symptom that is remedied by the use of this medicine.
  5. Natrum Muriaticum: this is usually prescribed to women who complain of their migraines worsening during their menses. The headaches can be accompanied by temporary loss of vision. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a homeopath.

I have 15-25 sleep myoclonus a night. I heard that jerk before falling asleep is not seizure. My EEG is abnormal. Doctor told me I have partial seizure? How could it be?

Jerk before sleep we called as startling which is never called as seizure but since your EEG is abnormal that's why your doctor saying that you are suffering from partial seizure it means that you are getting, may be the manifestation of atypical seizure. Whoever homoeopathy has a solution to it to help you get it and cure completely if the exact details are known.

I have migraine, I use paracetamol (at least 2 in a week). Is Paracetamol cause any side effect?

Among the various analgesics used for headache paracetamol is safest. I will share some tips to decrease your headache episodes so that need for analgesics is decreased. Follow these lifestyle changes to avoid headache 1. Maintain regular sleep wake cycle, even on holiday's. 2. Don't skip meals. Take regular healthy diet with adequate fluids 3. Do not consume excess caffeine / carbohydrates / alcohol or smoke. 4. Exercise daily (aerobics and cardiovascular) 5. Identify your headache trigger and try to avoid it.

Migraine is a disturbing and relapsing kind of headache. It has to be treated with precision taking into consideration its provocative factors of relapse. There are certain foods that can help in avoiding onset of alzheimers dementia. Foods containing high levels of anti oxidants and omega acids are beneficial in general for nervous system. But in case of advanced cases of alzheimers, along with healthy lifestyle and good food habits, medications are necessary. Currently there is no evidence of complete cure of alzheimers either by medications or with use of any particular food items. I am 62 years old man suffering from anxiety and depression with insomnia. Please suggest any remedy.
I suspect that you are one of many who have been taking medicines but not working with a counselor in tandem. You need both counseling and medical intervention. The combination is ideal for the cure to be complete. In fact counseling will need to go on for a long time to develop skills and techniques to cope with everyday challenges of your life. If you remain episode-free for three years at least, you can be weaned off of the medication. So I assume that for all of these many years you have been letting the medicine do all the work on your depression and very little effort from your side. This will not do at all. So please start counseling immediately. In the meantime please do the following that can be done all by yourself as you desire: You must be active and work towards your reformation. Many lifestyle changes need to be made to progress away for the condition. When you are depressed, you will feel lazy though I would like to call it lethargy. There is an inertia and lack of energy to even think, let alone act. You are required to literally do the opposite of what you feel like doing. Depression makes you want to withdraw, lie down, sleep, become lethargic, slow down, make you too lazy to even think etc. So when I suggested doing the opposite, you will need to fight this disease. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. If you are young and you can do it with some commitment. The doctor and counselor are there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with them is very critical for your success. For the insomnia please do the following: Yoga, meditation, and stress management exercises with definitely help. You must also do vigorous exercise every day, whether you get sleep or not. You should wake up at a uniform time every day, even if you don’t get sleep. You could sleep in the afternoon but try not to exceed 20 minutes to catch up with lost sleep, and that too only if necessary. Ideally, it is better not to sleep during the day at all. Even if you do not get sleep get to bed at a uniform time like 10.30 and just lie down and read some non-stimulating material. In the lying down position the body tends to regress to a childlike state and will induce sleep. Do not get up to switch off the light, and so you need to arrange for a bed lamp that can be put off at a stretch of a hand. Do not take alcohol, tea, coffee, soft drinks etc. before going to bed. A warm glass of milk before bedtime improves sleep for various reasons. Have dinner early and always make it a pure carbohydrate meal that can be had with any vegetables. Make the room as dark as possible but warm and cozy. Block out all forms of light entering the room through windows. The room must have reasonable cross-ventilation. There must not be any LED lights nearby your bed. Reduce all kinds of sounds around you: light music may be put on if it induces sleep for you with the ‘sleep’ function on. In rare cases you could watch TV in a lying position and switch off when you feel drowsy. There are some odors that could stimulate you and prevent sleep from happening; kindly examine that – this includes perfumes, soap scents, and even laundry detergents. Check out if a warm or cold bath induces sleep for you, and do that before retiring. If you have exhausted yourself through exercise, you will find it easier to relax into a stupor. Contemplate on calm and relaxing thoughts while in bed: decontaminate your mind from all the stresses of the day before going to bed. You could acquire a recording of gradual relaxation and guided relaxation routines. Sleep with your head facing North, and do not sleep directly under an overhead fan. Sleep as far as possible on your left ear. Try these for now and if these fail you must meet with a counselor and work out other matters that may be causing the insomnia.

We need to find the cause of papilldema. Mri of brain should be done. Lumbar puncture with csf opening pressure should be done if mri is normal. Treatment is possible, depending on the cause.

Numbness can be due to decrease in electrolytes or sugar at that point of time and so I will suggest you to drink a glass of lemon water during sleeping time.

Treatment Of Cerebral Ischaemia And Cerebral Congestion With Homeopathy

Cerebral ischaemia or brain ischemia is a medical condition that restricts the flow of blood to the brain, resulting in an unmet metabolic demand. This leads to limited oxygen supply in the brain, which could result in the death of brain tissues, cerebral infarction or an ischemic stroke. Thus, a cardiorespiratory arrest, a stroke, and irreversible brain damage are few possible consequences of cerebral ischaemia.

People with compressed blood vessels, low blood pressure, congenital heart defects or sickle cell anaemia have a high risk of developing cerebral ischaemia since compressed blood vessels or very low pressure can lead to restricted blood flow. Also, sickle-shaped cells have a greater tendency to clot, causing obstructed blood flow.

Patients with cerebral ischaemia experience a host of symptoms, such as weakness in the body, problems with coordination and movement, vision and speech impairment and unconsciousness.

Cerebral congestion, on the other hand, refers to the excessive quantity of blood in the brain vessels, causing pressure on the cerebral substance. Cerebral congestion is of two types. It is termed as active when there is too much arterial blood flow and passive when there is undue quantity of venous blood in the veins of the brain. Both conditions cause symptoms, such as a severe headache, insomnia, irritability and unconsciousness. The patient gets little sleep and is disturbed often followed by dreams. When awake, the patient’s mental activity in the brain is very high.

Homeopathy is now a well-established school of medicine backed with years of research and practice. Gone are the days when homeopathy was considered no more than an extension of herbal home remedies.

Homeopathic laboratories around the world produce a large number of medicines covering almost all ailments. The benefits of homeopathic treatment are now well established due to its holistic approach and minimal side effects. Sir 1. Start with physiotherapy sessions and learn exercise for spine. 2. Don't sit on floors. 3. Don't lift heavy things. 4. Take calcium and methylcobalamine supplement with glucosamine for three months minimum. 5. Use lumber spine belt also.

Unfortunately for Bell's palsy there is no particular effective medicine. Still in initial period one might take steroids and vitamins after consulting doctor. But mainstay is Physiotherapy.
