Don't try any fad diets especially while you are still breastfeeding. For hypothyroid condition there is no specific or special diet. It is best advised to have a diet planned as per the thyroid levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - have small frequent meals. Do not fast for long hours. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar if having insulin resistance. Avoid junk foods. Exercise and stay active. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into lowered metabolism. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

How to loose weight in three months and get perfect body shape without going to gym.
Hi incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.

Don’t worry. You can lose weight easily if you are patient and determined to shed those extra kilos. You just have to alter your daily routine, watch what you eat and be physically active. This requires you to be on your weight loss commitment for quiet long. As soon as you start seeing the results, you will be surprised as well as motivated to go beyond your weight loss and adopt and a lifelong healthy attitude. For a start please follow: 1. Watch what you eat – Are you eating too much junk, drink excessive alcohol and eating too much white food and sugar? Please cut it down to as low as you can from tomorrow. Cut down tea/coffee if you are too addicted to it. It is creating havoc inside your body. 2. Lifestyle – Are you a late sleeper and late riser? You can’t imagine what this schedule of yours is doing to your metabolism. It is degrading your digestive system from inside and your looks from outside. 3. Physically active – If you are a couch potato who loves to watch tv whole day then throw that couch of yours in the street and get yourself a treadmill tomorrow. Yes it is as simple as that. Who is stopping you? You have to be physically active all day long if you want to burn those extra calories. Do daily brisk walk, Pranayam, atleast 20 surayanamaskar everyday to start seeing the results. Take break between office work to walk a little or rather just climb some stairs to get that food you ate in lunch have space and heat to digest and absorb. What’s the harm in using your washroom to do a little middle of the day squats. Do that – No one is watching you. The key is to stay physically active all day long, no matter what. 4. Eat healthy and eat on time: Not only eating healthy is important but eating at right time is equally imp too. Have an early breakfast and early dinner and have 4 small meals between breakfast and dinner. To guide you a bit, here you go: A. Breakfast (Between 8-10 a. M) – Have oats/porridge or brown bread with milk and nuts. B. At 11 a. M - Cup of Green Tea c. Mid day meal (around 12 p. M) – Have a bowl of fruits. Citrus fruits are best taken during this hour and absorb well in the body. Have oranges, amla, pineapple etc during this hour. D. Lunch (between 2-3 p. M) – Daal, roti, mix veg, buttermilk and salad. You can also take brown rice with daal in lunch. Try to get your food cooked in olive oil. Lace your salad with apple cider vinegar, black pepper and seeds like flaxseeds or chia seeds to make it nutrition packed lunch. E. Between 4 p. M – 5 p. M – Cup of Green Tea F. Evening (4-6 p. M) – Have some nice sprouts with tomatoes and cucumber. G. Dinner (2 hours before sleeping, preferably before 9 p. M) – Paneer & veggies salad with olive oil, Roti or brown rice with Daal. H. Have a glass of warm milk. Weight loss is 80% about what you eat and 20% about exercises. That said, both the things go hand in hand. If you want to lose weight in a more healthy way than be patient and just follow the regimen everyday. Slow and steady wins the race.

Our Daily energy requirements for proper functioning of our body is 1600-2200 K cal of Energy if we want to remain fit and healthy. But there is a misconception that weight is reduced by dieting. But weight is not reduced by only skipping our meals or prohibition from sugars but until we are not aware what are our body energy requirements ,it will be difficult to loose weight. If we restrict ourself from taking daily diet to 1100-1200 Kcalories ,and increases our workouts, only then we can think about reducing our weight and for that we must obtain proper knowledge of exact energy levels in a particular dish we are eating, only then we can achieve our target of reducing weight by means of simple mathematical calculation. I have a desk job and in the last 2 years my weight has gone upfrom 75kgs to 85kgs. I want to lose weight. Please help.
Being a dietitian my views: there is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

Hi lybrate-user I believe every day is women’s day. 90% of Indian families start their day with a cup of nice hot brewed coffee and end the day with relishing dinner prepared by a women. A woman plays a key role in the society. But when it comes to their own life they are very tired and stressed looking for a soothing and relaxing time. Neilson survey shows that in INDIA “87% of women are stressed and 82% of women complaint that they have no time to relax”. This stress full life is creating havoc on women’s health. Women play the role of a Mom, Daughter, Daughter in-law, wife, Professional and a responsible citizen. Balancing all these roles and leading a happy and healthy life is not as easy as we think. This needs some homework. Health Surveys shows that there is an increase in infertility cases among working women. The major cause for infertility is Polycystic Ovarian Disorder. That is small water filled cysts are arranged like a chain in ovaries. This prevents ovulation and leads to irregular menstrual cycles. There are several reasons for cysts formation. Stresses, Exposure to environmental pollution, Irregular lifestyle are major causes. Now let us see in detail how to correct these factors and maintain harmony of hormones. Stresses: Stresses vary from person to person depending on their emotional balance. First rate your stress levels on 0-10 scale 0 being no stress and 10 being highly stressed. Write this on a paper and aim to bring this number down. Here are few tips that help to bring down stress levels. Take 5 min in a day as a self assessment time. Then find out what is stressing you more. Write a list of them and find ways to tackle them. Note: Your thought process should be in such a way that you think positively to come out of stress. Never find excuses to stress yourself. Practice deep breathing technique during work hours. For example give a pause and take 10 deep breaths for every one hour of continues work. Smell lavender oil. Add few drops of lavender oil to your napkin or facial tissue and smell it. Lavender oil works well to relieve stress. Aim to eat healthy food. If you are working late hours snack in between. This snack should be rich in protein like nuts or boiled chick pea with salad vegetables. Talk to very near person with whom you can share your emotions and feel relaxed. Communication is the key to solve issues in relationships. Environmental pollution: Everybody is aware of rise in environmental pollution. India has 4 cities ranked among 10 most polluted cities in the World. There are few kinds of pollution which are out of our hands. But few pollutions can be controlled or decreased. A review article in Medspace reported that parabens present in cosmetics especially underarm cosmetics play a crucial role in breast cancer as parabens bind to human estrogen receptors and cause high serum estrogen. This leads to breast cancer. So avoid cosmetics that have parabens. Better go for herbal products. Similarly Bisphenols present in plastics also cause hormonal imbalance. So avoid eating and storing hot foods in plastic containers as they release bisphenols when we place a hot food in plastic containers. Maintain low exposure to air pollution. Wear a mask to your nose to avoid direct inhalation of smoke. Drink clean and filtered water. Especially water contaminated with heavy metals like lead and mercury. So select water filters that can filter these metals. Always go green. Select organic food whenever possible. Detox your body monthly once. Consult a specialist for detox. Never do it on your own. “Environmental Working Group “check their site for safe cosmetic and cleaning products in market. Irregular lifestyle: Last but not least “Lifestyle”. The only proven therapy for PCOD is maintaining a good life style. Please maintain your biological rhythms. Disturbance in your rhythm will create havoc on your metabolism. Maintain regular meal timings. This will keep your hunger and satiety hormones in balance. Regular meal timings will help you to maintain healthy weight. “Food is medicine”. Enjoy your food in limitation. Too much of anything will harm you. Aim to introduce salads to your meal plate. Meal plate should have one variety of green leafy vegetables. This does not include ice berg lettuce. Salads helps to boost your Fibre intake, Vitamin C levels, Folic acid levels, Vitamin E. These are all required to maintain hormonal balance. Aim to include 4-5 servings of low glycemic Index fruits. Like oranges, guava, pomegranate, papaya, kiwi, grapes, water melon. These will boost your anti oxidant levels. Apart from diet lifestyle also includes physical activity. There is strong evidence that 30 min of physical activity 5 days in a week will help you to maintain healthy weight. Physical activity keeps your cortisol hormone in balance and helps to lower stress. It is a fight or flight hormone. If you are overly stressed this hormone levels rise and leads to major hormonal imbalances like PCOD, Hypo Thyroid, Insomnia, Migraines. Healthy food, Physical activity, Proper hydration and Sleep are key points to be checked to maintain healthy lifestyle.

Hye. Thanks for the query. Maintaining body weight is not a one time effort that you try, succeed or fail or drop the actions that take you there. You are what you eat. Your weight is nothing but a balance of how much you eat and how much you burn or exercise. Understanding this art of balance will make it easy to maintain your body weight. Walking, swimming, strength training as well as eating are all calorie burning processes. Along with this if you eat sensibly; then you will see the scales move. There is no short cut to losing weight. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals.     Reduce your main meals by a small amount. Take a glass of lime water 10minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed.                        Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing.     It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called fad, crash diets, medicines, pills or supplements will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, lose that fat not muscle mass.
