If your blood pressure reading is 90/60 or lower, you have low blood pressure. Some people have low blood pressure all the time. They have no symptoms and their low readings are normal for them. In other people, blood pressure drops below normal because of a medical condition or certain medicines. Some people may have symptoms of low blood pressure when standing up too quickly. Low blood pressure is a problem only if it causes dizziness, fainting or in extreme cases, shock. Certain medicines and substances can lead to low blood pressure, including:     * Alcohol     * Anti-anxiety medicines     * Certain antidepressants     * Diuretics     * Heart medicines, including those used to treat high blood pressure and coronary heart disease     * Medicines used for surgery     * Painkillers Other causes of low blood pressure include:     * Nerve damage from diabetes     * Changes in heart rhythm (arrhythmias)     * Not drinking enough fluids (dehydration)     * Heart failure You can do a few things to prevent low blood pressure     * Drinking more fluids     * Getting up slowly after sitting or lying down     * Not drinking alcohol     * Not standing for a long time     * Using compression stockings so blood does not collect in the legs Get these test done to find cause of blood pressure problems tests include Thyroid functions, ECG, ECHO.

Dear lybrateuser, -for your dad to walk properly & to avoid future complications he has to undergo the reoperation as advised by the bone specialist because if it is not done now then the hip will become weaker & will make it more difficult for him to walk.

high blood pressure combined with diabetes going on for a number of years are invariably dangerous to the kidney. These conditions lead to a chronic kidney damage then to chronic kidney failure. The treatment options are limited. Most important thing is to have strict sugar and bp control. Because if these diseases are ot fully controlled then damage is progressive, can cause complete failure. So make sure that his sugar levels and bp are as normal as possible. Reduce excess salt and protein intake. Drugs like nsaids (pain killers) should be avoided. If need be dialysis should be used to help kidney functioning.

My father has suffered from heart blockage. Give me precaution to save this disease?
How many vessels are blocked and what % ? to save all vessels start giving him a concoction made of pomegranade seeds , boil on low fire about 100 gms in 2 L water , drain and store in a bottle , drink half a cup every day. this does open up blood vessels , so does eating pomegranade as it is. Do write the extent of damages in the heart through tests done-angiography , Echo , ECG

My father is diabetic. And heart patient also. Can you tell me proper diet chart.

MSc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Hyderabad
My father is diabetic. And heart patient also. Can you tell me proper diet chart.
We recommend intake of slow-release carbs (low gycemic index (GI) foods) to keep blood sugar levels even because they are digested more slowly. High GI foods spike the blood sugar rapidly, while low GI foods are absorbed gradually. We encourage eating regularly at set times. Eat smaller meals at regular intervals (6 to 7 times a day) as both overeating and starving could result in fatigue as well as cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate. The body is better able to regulate blood sugar levels—and the weight—when an individual maintains a regular meal schedule. We recommend moderate and consistent portion sizes for each meal or snack. •Reduce saturated fat and cholesterol from your diet. •Trim any visible fat off meat before cooking and remove the skin before cooking. Consume fish or chicken instead of red meat. •Instead of frying, choose to grill, broil, bake, or stir-fry. •Avoid using heavy cream, use low-fat milk. •Eat more foods rich in fiber, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. •Consume a low-fat balanced diet consisting of whole-grain cereals, low-fat/ skimmed dairy, fruits, vegetables, sprouts. •Avoid stimulants such as too much caffeine. •Drink 10 to 12 glasses of water everyday. •Lose weight, if overweight. Aim to maintain a healthy body weight. •Increase your level of physical activity (walk at least 45 minutes to 1 hour daily). •Meditation and relaxation techniques can help calm the body and mind, bringing them into a better state of balance. •Get enough sleep. A good night’s sleep helps reduce overall fatigue, anxiety and stress.
