How does sugar damage our teeth, and how should I get rid of it please time some home remedy.
Our mouth is full of hundreds of bacteria, many of which are beneficial to the oral ecosystem. However, certain harmful oral bacteria actually feed on the sugars you eat to create acids that destroy the tooth enamel, which is the shiny, protective outer layer of the tooth. Cavities are a bacterial infection created by acids, that cause your teeth to experience a hole in them. Without treatment, cavities can progress past the enamel and into the deeper layers of the tooth, causing pain and possible tooth loss (a)Avoid Certain Foods/Drinks When Possible: We’re not asking you to give up your morning coffee, just to reduce the intake of the above foods as much as possible. Sometimes simply being aware can help us make better choices. (b)Drink Water: After you’ve consumed a tooth-staining food or drink try to immediately follow it with a glass of water. Swirling water around your mouth can drastically help clear away the acids or staining. This simple step is free and easy, and can drastically help reduce tooth discoloration. (c)Proper Dental Hygiene: Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental checkups help keep teeth healthy for a lifetime. Develop these habits early and you’re less likely to have dental problems down the line. (d)Teeth Whitening: The good news is that there are many options available to whiten teeth. Some can be done at home while others can take help of Homoeopathic medicines. Homoeopathic medicine HEKLA LAVA TOOTH POWDER ( WHEEZAL) Scrub teeth daily night RINSEOUT ( SBL) Gargles 20 drops in 20 ml luke warm water.Gargles 3 times daily while holding water for 20 seconds in mouth esp.after meals.

Hello lybtrate user, if this yellowish stain since your childhood days then, I guess the stains are internal and cannot be removed by ultrasonic scaling. In cases like yours we recommend veneer which are thin ceramic layers which looks exactly like a normal white teeth and are placed over the dicolored teeth. You can visit your nearby dentist and ask for this option. Fruits and vegetable will not remove this yellow color of your teeth, it will improve the health of your gums. Hope this helps.

Hello, thank you for your query. I understand you have a condition called halitosis (bad mouth odour). Causes: 1. Foods: sulfur containing foods such as garlic, onions, some kinds of fish, coffee etc can leave bad odours in the mouth 2. Poor oral hygiene 3. Tobacco habits: smoking and/or chewing tobacco 4. Mouth dryness or lack of adequate saliva 5. Mouth infections 6. Health problems: gastric problems, acidity, cadidiasis, diabetes, acid reflux, lactose intolerance etc 7. Wearing braces or having removable appliances (increase food retention and if oral hygiene is poor, can lead to halitosis. 8. Pregnancy 9. Other causes. Please see a specialist to diagnose the cause and give you appropriate advice.

Hi lybrate-user, I suspect that the caries in your tooth have reached the pulp of a tooth (the blood vessel n nerves of tooth). The infection in that region leads to sensitivity and pain in tooth. So, the treatment that you should undergo is root canal treatment followed by a crown. I hope I could provide you an appropriate ans.

8 Unexpected Reasons People Are Afraid of the Dentist

8 Unexpected Reasons People Are Afraid of the Dentist

For most people, a visit to the dentist is not a routine affair, it is mandated by tooth pain or bleeding gums. Surveys have been conducted to understand this, and at least 50% of the people have a fear of dentists.

Listed below are some common reasons cited by people as to why they fear a dentist:

1. General Anxiety: Unlike a regular doctor's set-up, the dental office with its various equipment and materials can be quite intimidating for anybody. This is one of the main reasons most people fear going to a dentist. Whether it is the big X-ray equipment or the drills used on the teeth, the person walking into the clinic has a general fear.

2. Fear of embarrassment and negligence: As mentioned, most people go to the dentist when a symptom sets in. Visiting a dentist and opening the mouth reveals the negligence of the person in terms of oral health, and this is an embarrassment for most people.

3.Tooth removal: A decade or so ago, for most decayed tooth, removal would be the only problem. In such cases, especially if the tooth was grossly decayed, it would be removed, sometimes with use of multiple instruments and in small pieces. The recent advancements have reduced the instances of tooth removal, however, this is a major reason for people to fear a dentist.

4. Injection: The thought of having an injection in the mouth is another big no-no for most people. There could also be the possibility of having a bad experience with an earlier dentist, where there might have been more than a prick to get the anesthetic effect.

5. Fear of pain: In this major set-up, most people are not sure which instrument might be used on them and they fear that this can cause additional pain to the tooth that is already in pain.

6. Fear of getting bad news: The dentist will diagnose the problem and reveal bad news about the problem. This might involve not just complicated treatment but also can be quite expensive.

7. Connecting to a bad experience: In some cases, the person could have had a previous bad experience and this might prevent them from going to any other dentist. The bad memory always comes to the fore and prevents the person from going through another bad experience.

8. The use of drill: Whether or not the person in the clinic requires drilling, the mere sound of it puts off some people from visiting a dentist. Opening the mouth and getting a tooth drilled is one of the biggest fears for most people.

Walk into a dentist with none of these fears and you will be relieved of your dental and oral problems.

If you wish to discuss about any specific dental problem, you can consult a specilized dentist and ask a free question.

How to control bad breath. . I spend more then 8hrs in front of system. What's the solution?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

1. Take one clove after every meal and chew it. This is very effective natural cure to reduce bad breath. 2. Chew some cardamom seeds to get rid of bad breath. 3. Chewing a few mint leaves frequently can get rid of bad breath and it is a good mouth freshener too. Diet- 1. Increase the intake of foods rich in zinc as they help in preventing bad breath. Zinc helps maintain the anaerobic bacteria balance inside the mouth to keep it free of foul smell. 2. Increase intake of vitamin c and vitamin e rich foods. 3. Drink lots of water to keep mouth and body well hydrated. 4. Avoid constipation.

There is a possibility that consuming a large no. Of medicines can dry up your mouth. Consider increasing your fluid intake or using an artifical saliva product or chewing a sugarless gum after a meal so as to keep your mouth from dryness and generate moisture.
