Hi Mr. Lybrate-user, if you have severe anxiety you may need to take medication and complete the full course leaving it in between will only relapse it. Anxiety is a natural human emotion that is associated with being scared or nervous. One may feel anxious as a result of a stressful work environment, or before making an important decision or taking a test. An anxiety disorder, however, is a case in which an individual may feel anxious even when there is no apparent reason to be, and is often associated with depression. Anxiety disorders can interfere with a person's ability to lead a normal life. There are many medications that can be prescribed for anxiety (most notably benzodiazepines). However, these medications are known for their addictive qualities and adverse side effects, and consequently many people prefer natural solutions. Whether it is short term bout of anxiety or a perpetually burdening anxiety disorder that you are experiencing, this article will give you the guidance you need to avoid symptoms of anxiety, and deal with them when they occur, using natural methods. Watch your diet. Conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, etc. Are very dependent on your lifestyle, with diet being one of the most important aspects of it. What you eat and drink plays a big role in how your body feels, how much energy you have, and how capable your mind will be to deal with stress. Make sure that you are eating enough, that your diet is healthy and balanced, and that you are limiting your intake of intoxicants, stimulants, and depressants, to ensure a more balanced mood. Here are some tips: have a good breakfast everyday. It is important to take the time to eat a substantial breakfast with a significant amount of protein. A protein packed breakfast will give you more energy to start your day, will keep your blood sugar balanced, and will better prepare you to deal with stress. Eat complex carbohydrates. Carbohydrates have been shown to increase the amount of serotonin in your brain, which has a calming effect and improves your mood. Foods that are dense in in complex carbohydrates include whole wheat bread, oatmeal, quinoa, and whole grain cereals. Limit or avoid alcohol. Alcohol might make you feel better in the short term, but once its calming effects wear off, it can make you tired and irritable. Alcohol can also interfere with sleep. Limit your caffeine intake. Caffeine can exacerbate feelings of tension and nervousness. Over consumption, especially, can stress you out, and interfere with sleep. Try using dietary supplements. As part of having a balanced diet, it is essential to get all the vitamins and minerals you need. Certain supplements in particular, have been proven to help the nervous system function properly and control neurotransmitter production. Like vitamin d, magnesium and omega 3 exercise: exercise is a great way to get rid of tension in a positive way, and can help you get your mind off of things that may be stressing you out. When you exercise, your body produces endorphins, which act as natural painkillers. Endorphins also contribute to a happier and more relaxed mood. Exercise reduces the production of the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol. Physical activity also increases body temperature, which reduces muscle tension and creates a calming effect. Breathe. A big part of coping with anxiety involves learning how to stay calm in uncomfortable situations. Controlling your breathing is an effective tool you can use to calm yourself down when you start to feel a fit of anxiety taking you over. If you start feeling overwhelmed, nervous, or short of breath in an uncomfortable situation, inhale slowly and keep the air in your lungs for four seconds. Then exhale slowly until all the air is completely gone from your lungs and wait 2 seconds before taking another breath. Repeat the process rhythmically, focusing on the duration of each step of your breathing pattern. Deep breathing has been proven to have a soothing effect on the body. It can lower your blood pressure and heart rate, giving your body an opportunity to relax and fend off the anxiety attack. Consult a psychologist for effective management of symptoms. All the best.

My wife is depressed for about 1.5 years and she dislikes all my relatives and family members and abuses all my family members. We live separately now but in spite of this she feel and pray bad for them. We married very late before 2 years and have no child and house. She is too much worried about these things She is hearted with behaviour of my family members and unable to forget all moments with my family members till date. What should I do? Probably she was emotionally abused by the relatives and she has got hurt deeply. May be she has a different perception about their behaviour and is unable to understand their intentions. You need to talk to a counsellor. It will help you both, individually and you will be able to improve your marital bond.

Mr. Sabir if you have pain rt. side of upper abdomen radiating to rt. shoulder you should go for sonography to rule out Gall stone problem .Some time it may be due to acidity causing distension of abdomen. better avoid heavy fatty meals . also mention if you have other symptoms along with this.

Hello, My age is 19 years. I am the student of B. E. I am suffering from mental problem. I think its an ocd. I always repeat the actions and thoughts. For example- if I have thought of buying a new purse. Then after sometime I will have doubt that did I actually thought of buying a new purse or not. So I again and again repeat that what actually have I thought. And the worst situation is that I always have that sensation that if I will not repeat something bad will happen with me or with my family. So I repeat and repeat. After when I clear that yes the thought was of the purse buying then immediately I should remember god. If god not came in my mind I repeat again until god comes in my mind or my family members. I also have negative thoughts. Bad thoughts. Violent thoughts and images. I am even not able to concentrate on my studies. Please help me what should I do to avoid such things?

Yes, these are the classic symptoms of ocd. You must immediately meet a counselor and a doctor for follow-up treatment. Since you are young the possibilities are immense if you cooperate. Ocd is a fear based reaction and can be quite debilitating if neglected. So you could see where this fear has originated and your parents help and involvement is recommended. They will have an insight as to how and where the fear came about. If you deal with the fear, the ocd which is a symptom of that fear can be dealt with more effectively. In the meantime you can build your constitution and your emotional make up with some regular physical exercises, proper sleep, and a healthy diet. Your emotional fitness can be developed with the counselor.

Hi This problem is due to irritation and inadequate nutrition of the brain. So follow few basic things . 1) drink only 100-150 ml of water during meals 2) don’t drink water one hour before meals and one hour after meal 3) avoid oily, spicy, salty, junk, fast, fermented and stale foods 4) avoid coffee and tea 5) try to sleep upto 10.30 pm 6) do anuloma viloma pranayam regularly early in the morning A) eat 30-40 black currants and 1 tsf of jaggery during meals B) take 250 ml of fresh butter milk during meals. C) instill 3-4 drops of CHANDANADI TAILA in each nostril at the time of sleeping… Do all these things for 15 days. It gives you good result. THANKS.

I am a first rank student upto 12th class. I was appreciated by everyone that time. But after 12th I proposed one girl and she rejected that am not fit for her becuse am innocent, and she said she do not want disturb me. At beginning of engg I felt sigh, do not know exact reason. U r asking some important question, start at morning 8 am take a paper and pen just write what r u thinking at 8. 00 then 8. 10 so this way u write in every 10 minutes the thought coming into your mind. Then after 1 day u study the paper. Which event u thought most. Write that in my private question I will give u best solution.

How to concentrate on studies? As my exams are going on I am not getting concentration.

If your lack of concentration is due to stress then try some relaxation technique couple of times a day. Focusing on your goal in terms of other grades or chievements lso works wonderfully in helping you main't a in your motivation. Also try following things for concentration try following things on a daily basis and you will see positive results. Concentration is a mental skill that you can develop. There are two ways to improve your concentration: first, raise your brain's natural ability to concentrate. In other words, increase your attention. Second, adjust the environment around you to make concentrating easier. To improve your concentration takes a little time and effort, but it can be worth it. In my personal experience with students. This can make noticeable improvement in a relatively short time. Ideas for daily concentration-boosting habits include: mindfulness meditation - many studies confirm that 20 minutes of meditation or more per day improves concentration and attention span. Focusing on your breathing, known as mindfulness meditation, is one of the simplest way of meditation. Start with ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes before bed. Proper sleep -i am sorry to say it. Pulling all nighter will not help with your grade. Unless you are getting sufficient restful sleep, you are not going to be as mentally focused as you could be. Brain game -. The more you use certain skills, the more they are reinforced in the brain. So it makes sense that playing concentration games and games that require you to focus will improve your concentration ability. You need to be consistent in this. Play for about 10 to 20 minutes each day. Have fun, and get the benefits but remember not to spend more than 20 minutes a day. Your goal is to improve your concentration and not the score in the game! eat healthier - your brain needs the proper nutrients to allow you to focus. Eat more vegetables and fruits and avoid consumption of junk food as much as possible. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Exercise is helpful in both reducing stress and increasing focus. At-least 20 minutes a day would go a long way. Optimize your mental state & environment in addition to building the habits described above into your daily routine, also adjust your environment and your current mental state to improve your concentration when studying. Create a study spot. Your brain loves routine. Create a place where all you do is study. An obvious choice is a secluded desk of some kind, but the trick is to make sure you only study in that spot. Studying in bed is a bad habit, for example, because your body is trained to want to sleep once you get into bed. Remove distractions. Turn off the ringer on your phone and take other steps to prevent interruptions. Don't study with the television on or with talk radio playing. Some studies have shown that soft instrumental music (no vocals) can help improve your concentration. Block background noises. If you have to study or work in an environment where it is too loud (classroom or open space) or too quiet (such as at home or at a library) you can get easily distracted by outside influences. With the right amount of background noise you can actually block out distractions and enhance your creative thinking. Use time boxes. Set a time limit when you need to study new material. For example, let's say you want to read one chapter in a book (and remember it). Decide in advance that you can have 45 minutes to read the chapter, and 15 minutes to review it. Set a timer to keep yourself honest, then pace yourself to keep within the allotted time. Stay motivated with rewards. If you see studying as burden, it's hard to concentrate. One way to stay motivated is to set up a reward system. Tell yourself you have to earn that hour of watching your favorite show later in the evening by first completing one hour of intense studying. That way, even if the material is dry, you have the reward to look forward to. Take a break every two hours. You mental energy will begin to decline after a long period of study. So every two hours or so, take a ten minute break. Walk around, eat a light snack, or just stare at the wall to relax your mind. Concentrating is the first step to learning anything new. Your complain sounds like a symptom of ocd, obsessive compulsive disorder. Obsessions are automatic, unwanted, intrusive, repetitive and anxiety provoking thoughts. Usually there is a pattern, like in your case the thoughts come before an activity. There are medicines available to reduce these thoughts. You should visit a psychiatrist. There are counseling techniques also that will help. It is a treatable condition. Don't delay the treatment.

Hello Arjun, Any kind of heart break and/or separation can cause emotional pain and lead to a lowered self esteem too. Time is the best healer in such a case. Give yourself time. You will bounce back to normal in a few months. Additonally keep yourself engaged with whatever work/studies you do. When your heart feels heavy with sadness or anger then find an outlet for your sadness or anger; express these emotions to someone else in whatever way you can, either by talking to someone or by writing, drawing or singing about it. Hope this helps. Ttake care of yourself in this phase and don't run the events of the past in your midn like a reel. Allow your mind and body to heal. Good Luck.

Hmmm, can understand your problem. Do not worry. Sometime some diseases takes long time for recover. You need to continue the treatment, do regular with your Dr. If you r not feeling good after taking medicine then please inform to the Dr. Need to keep busy to self, always stay with your family / frnds, do not stay alone. Absolutely you can continue taking those pills as long as you need them. In the meantime meet with a counselor and sort out the depression that is haunting you. You can follow these instructions for your sleep problem: Instead of worrying too much about causes, why don’t you implement some of my suggestions, because they work effectively. The lack of sleep, i.e. Sleep for less than 6 hours per night, is directly linked to about 86 diseases! So let us first focus on that. In your case particularly, do not sleep during the day; don’t even lie down. Go for regular exercise (breathing through your nostrils only) at a fixed time (at about 6 am) every day, whether you sleep or not. You must develop this habit of sleeping by 10 pm latest every night and wake up at a uniform time by 6 am every morning, even if you do not get sleep. If you do not get sleep, just lie down and if you have a bed lamp (or you could get one) lie down and read something light but not exciting. Your eyes will tire and you will fall asleep. If you like you may also put on light and soft music with the sleep function on. Depending on whether you are a visual or auditory person, you may watch TV in a lying down position until you feel sleepy. Have a warm bath before going to bed (for some people a cold bath at night seems to induce sleep! If you are one of them, please do so). Place the head side of your bed in a North-South position. The room must be as dark as possible and there should be no electronic items that give off even a light LED glow. There must be ample ventilation in the room. Avoid strong odors, except lavender, on your body or in the room, or on your sheets and clothes. There should not be any live plants in your bedroom. Sleep with the lightest of clothes or without any clothing. When lying down to sleep, lie down on your left ear as much as possible. Do not sleep directly under an overhead fan. You must eat a good breakfast, a fairly light lunch, and an early dinner, which should be a very light meal. Whatever you eat in the other meals, have only a pure carbohydrate meal at night with any vegetables, and preferably before 8 pm. Do not drink much liquids after or near about dinner time. When lying down to sleep you may use the 4-7-8 breathing pattern of sleep inducement i.e. Breathe in for four counts through your nostril only, hold for 7 counts, and exhale with a whoosh sound, through your mouth only, for 8 counts. Repeat this four times in the morning and just before you sleep at night. If you know Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT (check this out either on YouTube or Google), then please practice this too for sleep induction. Self-hypnosis and slow relaxation techniques, at night will be tremendously useful. Acupuncture or acupressure will both be very useful too. Pray last thing at night before you sleep.
