Hi I get hyper on small situations. Is there any way to get my self calm.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist,
Hi I get hyper on small situations. Is there any way to get my self calm.
This tendency to get panicky and worked up for small issues means that there is a fear that has remained unresolved for a long time. This brings about a fearful disposition. You must learn some stress management techniques, some left brain exercises, yoga and meditation, and do regular exercise. But above all you should meet with a counselor and deal with this fear, which may have bearings from childhood or may be genetic too. Spiritual wellness is extremely important to resolve this problem as well.

What should we do daily to quit habit of smoking in our regular schedule.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist,
When quitting, you must take one day at a time. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here?s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world ? you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

What could be done To decrease stress?

PhD (Psychology), MSc Psychology, MS
Psychologist,
Dear, stress is simply a reaction to a stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental equilibrium. In other words, it's an omnipresent part of life. A stressful event can trigger the? fight-or-flight? response, causing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to surge through the body. A little bit of stress, known as? acute stress? can be exciting? it keeps us active and alert. But long-term, or? chronic stress? can have detrimental effects on health. You may not be able to control the stressors in your world, but you can alter your reaction to them. I need to know, what are the causes with which you are stressed? once you know the reason, you will be able to adjust with it with some tips and tricks. Please let me know the details. Take care.

I always remain nervous.Over the years my confidence has come down drastically .I am currently 36 yrs of age .Have consulted psychiatrist as well but no positive results.Everyday i go to office with a fear in mind that my boss will scold or shout at me .Such types of unknown fear keeps coming in my mind.I have anxiety problems.Due to that i have bp problem as well .Pls suggest me something how can i overcome this problem as i have loads of responsibilities on my head.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
The loads of responsibility do not augur well for someone with anxiety disorders. You have been stressed for years and that is taking its toll and may only worsen. You must learn to delegate work responsibilities and organize yourself well. Under stress the mind is very suggestive and it does so by proposing all the worst case scenarios, every time. That accounts for your BP. What you have not done so far is to seek help via counseling. This is extremely important and could have helped you recover a long time ago. It is still not too late. Also you need to do some vigorous exercise, as permitted by your doctor. Exercise makes the heart grow larger and a large heart pumps more blood to all extremities and it pumps it more efficiently, with fewer beats. Under those conditions, your response to fear will be far superior to the normal population who do not exercise. Also you need to train the brain through Yoga and meditation to remain calm, and to handle situations with a lot of composure. You could learn some stress management skills too. Do not take too much of responsibility and if it is already too much, reach out to your boss who will gladly help out. All these measures will increase your confidence and composure. Eat well, sleep well and handle your emotions, especially fear well, with the help of a counselor. Things will brighten up and stress will become a distant dream.

Can you please tell me is there any medicines for quit smoking.

PhD (Psychology), MSc Psychology, MS
Psychologist,
Dear , Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you?re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse?no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn?t easy. But it?s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Take care.

I think I have multiple personality disorder! what should I do?

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist,
I seriously doubt that. A patient with multiple personality disorder, is usually unaware of presence of multiple personalities. I guess you tend to have lots of mood fluctuations and that is making you believe that you might have that problem. Visit a psychiatrist, he/she would be able to help.

I am aged 69 years smoking since last 45 years could not stop smoking now i want quiting smoking am worried of my bad habit even ready to be arrested in jail so as to stop smoking kindly guide me to overcome my this bad habit additionally i am a deaf dumb guvt retired person will be grateful if of any help from your team

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
45 years is a long time for tobacco?s chemicals to be coursing through your system. It has probably caused a lot of damage already. But it is never too late to stop. Although I do not know your reason to want to stop but it does sound compelling enough for you to want to even be jailed to keep you off of the cigarettes. You could instead consider admitting yourself into a hospital to detoxify your system to remove the physical craving to some extent and then you can work on the psychological conditioning and dependence. You can also admit yourself into any naturopathy or Ayurvedic institutes to help with the cessation of the smoking habit. They will gladly welcome you, and have had good success rates. You must stop smoking abruptly and immediately. You may use substitutes like nicotine chewing gums, nicotine patches, and electronic cigarettes to ease the craving in the beginning. Nicotine is the addictive substance in tobacco smoke that causes the dependence. There are various conditions tight through the day that your smoking is adapted to and at those times the craving will become very high. You must plan to distract your mind and your body with something more attractive and interesting to do and consume to temporarily stave off the urge. You need to give your decision to quit, wide publicity and keep the company of non-smokers for a long time. Start a good exercise program and healthy eating habits and diet. Work with a counselor through contracts, where both are obliged to support each other through the quitting phase. Do a complete medical check to see what health concerns have been caused by the extensive smoking and take care of those issues too. The decision to quit is a very good starting point, and the damage caused so far could be reversed to a large extent, adding a good many years to your life and saving on all the wasteful expenditure.

My advice is do not depend on medicine. Every medicine it has some side effects. Better to take psychological counselling. It has no side effects. Relaxation therapy helpful to come out of the anxiety problem. Lifestyle modification therapy helpful to change your life style management. Psychologist advises and suggestions it works on permanently on your life style management. So better to consult psychologist. Take his help. To come out of this problem. Ok best of luck.

How to Naturally Rid Yourself of Stress through Homeopathy

How to Naturally Rid Yourself of Stress through Homeopathy

Stress and treatment through homeopathy

Stress is a condition in which we feel frustrated, angry or worried and anxious due to circumstances we find ourselves in. Stress also takes the form of different diseases in your body, if it is left untreated.

Even when you are faced with the same situations, it can cause a different stress response in different people. In homeopathy, mental symptoms of the patient are analytically checked. Homeopathy first identifies the root cause, and the treatment approach differs based on this finding. Usually, the understanding of both the psycho and the physiological profile of the patient are combined, with the psychological profile being given more importance.

Here is a list of valid reasons why choosing homeopathy for stress treatment

1. Identifying the cause

Homeopathic medicines are not designed to suppress the symptoms and offer superficial relief. They work towards restoring the vitality of the body as a whole so that the body can itself combat with the diseases. Similar is the case for stress. Homeopathic medications address the underlying issues that cause stress and, therefore, they help you in dealing with your medical condition more effectively and permanently.

2. Symptom-based treatment

Homeopathy recognizes the uniqueness of the various symptoms and responses associated with stress.

For instance: homeopathic medicines for stress, when the cause of stress is grief (eg: losing a dear one) is Ignatia and natrum mur; whereas the medicines for stress, when stress is caused due to 'long and stressful work hours' is kali phos.

3. In-depth research

Homeopathy treatment is based on in-depth research to ascertain the factors that are responsible for your stress and deal with your condition accordingly.

Your brain is just another organ operating on the same biochemical principles as or heart or thyroid or liver. We experience feelings, positive or negative, at the cellular level - scientifically, it is no more than a complex interaction of chemicals and electrical activity.

The approach of homeopathy is more specific and, therefore, more effective.

Get some exercise. More oxygen intake will keep you fresh. Have a glass of water before sitting down to study. Set a time limit for yourself- to finish a topic or a set number of questions. Reward yourself with something you like to do or eat. Set next target and go ahead. Probably what you are doing is not important for you, that's the reason you are laxed and sleep. Make your studies important for you- you will not feel sleepy.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Anxiety is part of your body's defence mechanism. Anxiety is required for your body. Anxiety can be called as "fight or flight syndrome" Day to day anxiety helps you to prepare and plan and approach the task better. This is helpful. At the same time chronic anxiety and stress naturally keeps your blood pressure high and thereby affecting your heart health. Anxiety do not have any direct impact on your heart health. To avoid anxiety, learn to relax yourself. I suggest counseling, cognitive behavior therapy and relaxation therapy for you. Take care.

If you often feel tired, exhausted, fatigued, stressed or suffer from aches and pains or other chronic ailments, we have the ultimate solution. If you seek a deep level of luxurious pampering, relaxation and revitalization to carry your body, mind and spirit to another plane then Panchakarma is for you!

With much love and care Arogyam Ayurveda designed this therapy package to eliminate the internal causes of diseases and release the burden on your whole being. Large quantities of toxic bi-products are formed in the body as a result of numerous factors, including the body’s continuous metabolic processes, wrong body habits, wrong food habits, incompatible combination of food items, suppression of body urges, emotional imbalances, etc..

If your elimination system is functioning well most of these toxins are eliminated naturally. However, if it’s mal-functioning damaging toxins are deposited in various parts of the body. This toxic load results in the impairment of the Doshas, Dhatus (tissues), etc.. Consequently, normal functioning of the body systems are also impaired and we feel the many symptoms of toxicity and general ill health.
