Hello, Thanks for the query. Diabetes has a familial spread. That means if one oth or both parents have it, then children can get it. But there is no spread from either husband to wife or vis a versa. It is non-communicable disease. Thanks.

lybrate-userji, Thanks for the query. TSH 1.04 mU/L, is within the normal range. This means the dosge of Thyroxine that you are taking is good enough. Continue the same. Then check TSH after 6 months. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. There are some anecdotal reports about tulsi helping in controlling blood glucose. So you may try the same but do not stop the antidiabetic medications. Thanks.

Hi, at your age life expectancy is much high, so consider for reversal n strict glycemic control. You are educated n can plan widely. Diet exercise, medicines are just beside u, but participate in reversal detox, n continue the line of management.

Bhavanaji, T2 DM is a familial disease, it does run in family. If both parents have diabetes then 75 % of children are likely to get it. If one of the parents have it, then 25 % may get it. Fortunately it is a preventable disease. That is if a modified life style is followed like regular exercise for more than 1 hour a day, maintaining normal body weight, take a balanced diet giving matching calories based on ideal body weight and avoid too much of sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods and pastries. Plus should consume a good deal of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Refrain from alcohol and smoking. If this meticulously adhered to, then one can remain free from diabetes.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. No one predict whether your TSH will go up in future or not. At present it is absolutely normal. Only way to prevent becoming hypothyroid is to take regular iodinated salt. No other precaution is needed. Thanks.
