Dear Lybrate Surgeon, Pain in the TMJ can be attributed to a lot of factors like malocclusion, facial muscle spasms, impinging wisdom teeth, traumatic episodes, stress and birth factors. As you have mentioned, there could be a possiblity that your ordeal started after you got your wisdom teeth removed. You must get yourself examined by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for the correct diagnosis and proper treatment of your problem.

Is Your Toothbrush Making You Sick?
When somebody in the household gets sick with the cold or flu, it won't be long before the entire family is feeling ill, as well. Germs pass from one person to another, more so between people who live together, because of unhygienic habits. Storing and cleaning the toothbrush is one of the most overlooked aspect of home life that potentially spreads diseases. A badly kept toothbrush can also cause oral infections and other chronic health illnesses.
Don't Share That Toothbrush
Toothbrush sharing is vile but also intimate. Some new couples validate their new romances by sharing toothbrushes. Don't do it! Sharing the same toothbrush is not like exchanging bodily fluids while kissing. Toothbrush bristles get into the crevices of the gums and teeth, pushing germs deep into the tissue. The body has many natural defenses against infections, but become vulnerable when there is a tear in the tissue, something that happens often in the mouth. You might have bitten your tongue or gum, flossed too forcefully between the teeth or scratch the gum with hard brush bristles.
Don't Cover Toothbrushes
People put plastic covers on the toothbrush head thinking it protects it from airborne germs. And it does, but the confined and moist environment toothbrush covers create also exponentially increases the amount of germs already on the toothbrush. Toothbrush covers help when packing for trips, because it keeps the bristles from collecting dust and other dirt on the bottom of your bag. Wrapping your toothbrush in paper is even better when travelling, because paper is disposable and absorbs extra moisture while protecting bristles from getting dirty. In the bathroom, keep the toothbrush out to dry in a cup holder, away from the toilet bowl. Don't crowd several toothbrushes in one holder to avoid cross contamination.
Rinse Under Running Water
After use, rinse your toothbrush under running water to remove as much debris as you can and dilute germs on the toothbrush head. Every now and then soak the entire toothbrush head for a few minutes in mouthwash or a solution of salt and warm water to disinfect. The American Dental Association recommends that you change your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. Replace children's toothbrushes even more frequently, as they wear out much faster. Since there are so many different kinds of toothbrushes, quality and durability differs. Change your brush when it looks too worn or dirty, rather than waiting for 3 to 4 months to pass.
Some people clean their brushes by heating it in the microwave or leaving it in a dishwasher. This can damage some toothbrushes but could work for others. These methods and the use of mouthwash and sanitizing solutions to clean toothbrushes, are not supported by the American Dental Association, because there is no clinical evidence to show that they actually suppress bacterial growth. But, if some rituals make you feel better, and they work for you, don't give them up if it helps you have consistent hygiene habits.

I want a solution of pyria when I wake up my teeth is very bloody so please suggest me.

Good evening - there is only one way to help you - you require a good dental check up - which should be followed by a good and careful oral prophylaxis (cleaning/ scaling) and then efficiently maintaining good oral hygiene by brushing twice daily - after breakfast and after dinner. If you can do warmslaine mouthrinses - 4 to 5 times a day it would add to your relief.

Super fact of the day - 22nd October, 2015
Super Fact of the Day: Unlike other organs, your tooth cannot repair itself.

The outermost layer of the tooth is an 'enamel' which is NOT a living tissue and therefore it can’t repair itself. That's something your dentist has to struggle with!

Hello, bad breath could be because of deposits on your teeth or food lodged in your teeth. Visit a dentist get your scaling and polishing done. Brush twice daily, maintain proper brushing technique, floss regularly and rinse after every meal. Drink lots of water. For your tonsils problem you can consult to an ENT surgeon.

You can visit any general dentist for a routine check up and the sore itself will get healed. You can take symptomatic medication like oral ulcer gel and multivitamin.

My son is 7 years old his upper front two teeth have space in between and one side teeth (that is called Canines I think) has no space to grow. How can it be treated. I consulted a dentist he told that his teeth are still coming so the denture is shaping up so the space can be filled by itself but I am worried for the one side teeth that now has no space to come.

I have very pain in my teeth please give some suggestions for minimized the pain.
The type of treatment you have for toothache will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Saving a fallen tooth can be useful. Try to keep it in place while you seek immediate medical attention. If that is not the case, try wrapping the tooth in a piece of plastic or soaking it into milk and call for immediate dental service.

How to remove small gap between two teeth, every time I eat something then I have to remove it manually.
A dental floss is the best aid for cleaning of interdental spaces. If the gap is so much that the floss is loose in that space then you can opt for an interdental brush. Keep in mind that if the cause of food lodgment is decay or fracture of your teeth then, these aids are of no help and you will have to get the cause removed. A filling or cap may suffice if the cause is decay or fracture. please consult your doc fr proper diagnosis and treatment planning.
