Basics of sunscreen

MD - Dermatology, MBBS
Dermatologist, Mumbai

Basics to help choose a sunscreen: choose a sunscreen with SPF 30 or more with PA rating +++ or more. Lotions for dry or normal skin, gels for oily or combination skin. Look for words like broad spectrum, non comedogenic. Do reapply every 2-3 hours if out in sun. Also combine it with hats, umbrellas, sunglasses or scarves. They offer very valuable sun protection!

My brain is always too busy in thinking about something which gives stress to me due to which I m suffering with gastric problems which is leading to vomit the food after taking it. Please help me how to overcome it.

Over thinking is linked to gastric troubles. Thus you need to manage your thoughts and stop over thinking and analysing situations endlessly. Knowing what is within your control and what is outside your control can help you to reduce this. Acting on your thoughts rather than remaining at thinking level will help contain anxiety and get you some results. Know your swot (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) will help you to be more action oriented and getting results rather than sit and worry. This will help you to gain confidence and improve your self esteem. 3. Eat smaller and lighter meals. Don't sleep after meals. Exercise everyday to improve your digestion and your confidence. 4. Make friends and be a social person. Laughing and humour help to see life in a lighter vain. Emotional support of friends, relatives and colleges can help you pull through tough life situations. If these tips are not enough to make a change then you can see a counsellor for a personalised session.

Hi Diet chart for diabetic patient. 1) can diabetic patient take fruits and fresh fruit juice 2) others items please.

Hi
Diet chart for diabetic patient.
1) can diabetic patient take fruits and fresh fruit juice 2) others items please.
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. To give a diet chart I need to know following details: Weight, height, diet pattern, blood glucose levels & HbA1c% and extent of exercise being done daily. Because diet is a specific individualised thing. As regards foods to be avoided: sweets, junk foods, deep fried foods, pastries, bakery items, foods made form maida. Fruits which can be taken include papaya, guava, apple, orange, sweet lime, pomegranate, pear & water melon. Only about 100 g per day should be taken that too with strict glucose control. Mango, grapes, banana and chikkoo should be avoided. Use whole grain flour for roti and chapati. Thanks.

This pain can result because of incorrect way of penetrating the vagina, lack of lubrication, thick hymen, or other problems in the vagina. It is better to take a gynecologist consultation first. DO not try home remedies or self medication. If the problem is not identified properly and treated, it may induce fear of penetration and sex in your wife and may ruin your sexual life. However, there is no reason for worry, because whatever the problem, it can be treated easily by the doctor.

My father is suffering from grade III hamoeride. Age is 81. He is afraid of surgery which doctors have suggested him. After toilet I have to insert the hamoeride in rectum. Please. Advice for an alternate treatment. Thanks

Internal hemorrhoids also called as" piles" of the third degree mean a state in which they cannot be practically pushed back. There are many problems associated with this, including painful defecation, thrombosed piles and such issues. I would suggest that the best option is to get these piles removed surgically. With stapling, the recovery time and problems associated with surgery are very minimal. Post operative painkillers can make this a smooth experience without hassles. At this stage, medicines are most widely used only to lower the symptoms and not for any cure possible.

I have headache and also sneezing. There is cough and cold. Body pain. Leg pain. Hand swelling and pain in back.
Sneezing, sore throat, a stuffy nose, coughing - everyone knows the symptoms of the common cold. It is probably the most common illness. In the course of a year, people in the united states suffer 1 billion colds. What can you do for your cold or cough symptoms? besides drinking plenty of fluids and getting plenty of rest, you may want to take medicines. There are lots of different cold and cough medicines, and they do different things. Nasal decongestants - unclog a stuffy nose...i.e ................ nasal dop/spray.....nasivion Cough suppressants - quiet a cough...................................... syp. Brozedax Expectorants - loosen mucus so you can cough it up.............syp...zeet expectorant Antihistamines - stop runny noses and sneezing.....................tab/syp....levocetirizine Pain relievers - ease fever, headaches, and minor aches and pains.......tab..flucold plus . Here are some other things to keep in mind about cold and cough medicines. Read labels, because many cold and cough medicines contain the same active ingredients. Taking too much of certain pain relievers can lead to serious injury. Do not give cough medicines to children under four, and don't give aspirin to children. Finally, antibiotics won't take.
