Up to six month solely the child should be on breast fed and then after liquid diet and mashed food should be started. You can give him rice water, pulse water, mashed khichadi, mashed potato and other vegetables, biscuit in milk, mashed fruits, fruit juices, cerelac at this stage. The child should be double of his birth weight at the age of 6 month so check his progress by weighing him.

Hi  First: medicines are mandatory.  Otherwise ypu might have weight gain, muscle ache, sleep and anxiety issues as well as gynaecological and cardiac issues later. You need to get an USG neck done  and an FNAC USG guided of thyroid gland. FT3/FT4/TSH  If ypu have already done these tests Share on Lybrate I can help you better. Any history of alcohol  intake /fatty food /sugary food How much exercise do you get done every day? Ideally you should be doing a good mix of cardio, weights and crossfit  exercises to keep you healthy Together  with a balanced diet with optimum  healthy fat protein and carbs.  Avoid  deep fried fatty food and fast food. No soft drinks /sugary drinks. I am outlining  food you should avoid or restrict in Hypothyroidism. It's important  you maintain  your body weight exercise regularly. Weight gain increases thyroid hormone requirements.  Avoid cruciferous   group of veggies  like cabbage and broccoli. Avoid soya bean in all forms. No soya, nugget, chunk, tofu or milk. Limit their intake: Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, turnips, and bok choy. Cooking the vegetables can reduce the effect that cruciferous vegetables have on the thyroid gland. Limiting your intake to 5 ounces a day appears to have no adverse effect on thyroid function. Decrease gluten  intake from processed  food. Always try whole grain varieties of cereals which is rich in fibres and help improve  bowels (Take your thyroid replacement  medicine several hours before or several hours after food rich in fibres. Otherwise problem  with absorption  of hormone. 20 to 35 gram of fibres daily from all sources. Avoid excessive fatty (deep fried) and sugary food as hypothyroidism  causes your metabolism  to slow down &weight gain. Avoid highly salted food, chips, pickles, sauces as they Contain  large amount of sodium. Hypothyroidism  puts you at risk of high BP and excess sodium in salt aggravates Coffee  in excess. And coffee with thyroid hormone  replacement  can prevent absorption.  Alcohol. It is toxic to thyroid gland and prevents  hormone production and absorption. The problems of hypothyroidism  gets better with medicines, diet and exercise.  You will start  Better as the levels of your hormone normalises.  Initially  you need to do the TSH test every 6 weeks till normal TSH then every 3 months Diet /EXERCISE/Medicines/Sleep/meditation: 5 pillars of health needed to live the healthiest Chronic ITP and fibroid will have to be answered by other specialists. Hope this helps Let me know.  Take care

He is suffering from constipation.  he should be on a good fibre rich diet. Give plenty of water.  regular laxative if needed along with a good diet plan. As constipation is a chronic problem in most cases and most common cause is habitual constipation.  You must ensure a regular bowel time after a drink irrespective of passage of stool. He should be sitting for sometime say 10_ 15 minutes in a fixed time daily in a Indian style toilet. She appears  to be a fussy eater. Most importantly you need to be patient with her. Don't shout or scream while feeding her. Try to make her feeding time fun or playtime. After not giving any food for 3 hrs at least make him sit with the food he likes (solid foods not pastes or liquids) with spoon and katori or fork. Let him at least play with the food for some time. If he likes milk a lot then try to give solid like plain rice, oats. Chatu. With the pediasure You can have a deal with him. He will take 1 sip milk and 1 bite of something  This way he will learn to chew Threptin  biscuits are good to taste and are rich in protein (casein) Avoid giving him chips fast food Makes small pieces of food  and ask  her to try just 1 bite. If he likes the taste she will have another. If he likes chicken. Give him chicken in different  ways. Introduce him to egg. Boiled or omelette whatever he likes. Play with him till he feels tired. Playing running will improve digestion. Don't loose temper You can give him  one egg a day Cucumbers made into small pieces will help  with problem of flatulence. Children have to deal with new  food, new habits. So they act out. Do not get flustered if he criesmakes a scene. Sit quietly, go to another room, ignore him. He will learn that bad behaviour  will not allow him to get her own way. I know it's very difficult but keep trying as that's the best you can give him. Pain  abdomen  may be due indigestion earmarked, gastritis. Good hand hygiene: Regular nail trimming Washing hand after each toilet visit. And before taking any food in any form Also take care of drinking water quality. Test Adviced: CBC with AEC Stool and urine R/E, M/E USG abdomen Share the reports if any Kindly do the follo You can check out the Health blog I manage with my wife. It has many helpful tips. Hello Doctor. My question is for a 5 month old boy. Actually we are giving him some quality of Daliye ka pani. Is it ...
Try offering one spoonful or two spoonfuls of the following: pureed or mashed cooked vegetables, such as carrot or potato. Mashed or pureed fruits, such as banana, cooked apple, pear, or mango. Gluten-free cereal, such as rice, sago, maize, mixed with your baby's usual milk. You can also give cauliflower. You could try starchy vegetables, too, such as sweet potato. Once your baby is eating these fruits and vegetables happily, you can move on to other foods from the main groups: bread, rice, potatoes, and pasta dairy foods meat, fish, eggs, and beans introducing a range of foods and tastes at this stage may reduce the chances of your baby becoming a fussy eater later on. It's important to offer your baby savoury foods as well as sweet at this stage, so she learns to like a range of flavours.

How to Handle Bedwetting ....

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health
Pediatrician, Hyderabad
How to Handle Bedwetting

....

Bedwetting causes stress

Know that bedwetting is often a normal part of growing up. Most children don't stay dry at night until about the age of 3. And it's usually not a concern for parents until around age 6. There are ways to work toward dry nights as a family.

Reassure your child by being supportive. He isn't wetting the bed on purpose. And bedwetting isn't typically a sign of an emotional or physical problem. Explain that it is normal, very common and that he won't always wet the bed.

Bedwetting often runs in families. If you or your partner wet the bed as a child, talk with your child about it. It'll help him see that people do outgrow it. And it may help him feel less alone and embarrassed.

Many things can lead to bedwetting. It could be the slower development of bladder control or heavy sleep. There may be hormonal issues. Stress and anxiety can be a cause. A child who's been dry and suddenly starts wetting the bed may have an infection or a big life change such as a move may be bothering her. Be sure to speak with your doctor if this is a new problem.

If she's 4 or older, ask for her ideas. What might help her stop wetting the bed? brainstorm together. Drinking less in the evening and cutting back on caffeinated drinks may be worth trying. You can also offer options like disposable underwear or waterproof sheets. By keeping it positive and involving her, you'll help build her confidence and encourage good bedtime habits

Praise and reward for staying dry

When your child has a dry night, praise her for it. Some families mark wet days and dry days on a calendar. Stickers or stars can make it fun. If your child stays dry a number of nights in a row, offer a small reward for a fun breakfast or small book. If she wets, be supportive and remind her that results will come if she keeps up her efforts

Provide simple reminders

Make using the bathroom just before he gets in bed part of his bedtime routine. Also, remind him that it's ok to get up during the night to use the bathroom. Nightlights can help him find his own way when he needs to go.

Resist the urge to wake your child a lot during the night. If you use this approach, waking once a night should be enough, perhaps right before you go to bed yourself. Keep in mind that if you deprive your child of rest and sleep, you may increase his level of stress. Stress can be a bedwetting trigger.

Involve your child in cleaning up

When he wets the bed, he can put his pjs in the hamper or help you change the sheets. Make sure he understands it's not a punishment, just part of what has to be done. The idea is to make him more aware of his bedwetting without scolding him or making him feel ashamed

Clean up: removing the smell of urine

Accidents happen. And when they do, urine can leave a stubborn odor in clothes and in bed linens. Try adding a half cup to a cup of white vinegar to your wash to remove the smell.

Cleaning a mattress: step 1

If you need to clean urine from a mattress, first use towels to blot up as much as you can. Keep blotting, but don't rub, until no more moisture comes to the surface.

Once you've blotted up as much of the urine as you can, saturate the entire area of urine stain with hydrogen peroxide. Let it stand for 5 minutes, and then use towels again to blot the area dry.

Once the mattress is dry, sprinkle baking soda over the entire area and let it stand for 24 hours. The next day, vacuum the baking soda away. It should be clean and odor free.

If your child is nervous about sleepovers, remind her of the steps she uses to stay dry at home. Giving her disposable underwear and extra clothes in case of an accident might put her at ease. A sleeping bag with waterproof lining may also help.

Beforehand, notify the adult host that your child may have some worries about bedwetting. Discuss your child's plans for handling it so everyone feels prepared.

Some medications (desipramine, desmopressin, or imipramine) may help for special occasions when your older child wants to stay dry, such as at camp.

Be patient about bedwetting

Scolding or losing your temper won't make your child stop wetting the bed. Don't bring up bedwetting in front of others to try to shame her. Embarrassment will only increase her stress and anxiety. Meanwhile, remember that bedwetting eventually does stop. Try practicing patience and providing support while you wait.

Dealing with teasing in the home

Bedwetting can make your child an easy target for teasing. To help him handle it, make your home safe for him. Don't allow anyone in your family to tease about it. Explain to siblings that bedwetting is something their brother doesn't have control over and that he needs everybody's love and support.

If your child avoids other children or comes home with unexplained injuries, she may be being bullied. Listen to what your child says. Talk with her and let her know that you know it's not her fault. Then talk with people at her school and ask what they've seen. Be proactive and work with the school to find ways to make the teasing stop.

When to call the doctor

If your child is still bedwetting at age 7, consider setting up a doctor's visit. While there may be a medical problem, most of the time there isn't. Also, see the doctor if your child suddenly starts wetting the bed after being dry for 6 months or more.
