Shoulder pain and injuries

The shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint that has three main bones: the humerus (long arm bone), the clavicle (collarbone), and the scapula (also known as the shoulder blade). These bones are cushioned by a layer of cartilage

The shoulder joint is a very mobile joint which makes it very susceptible to injury. It moves the shoulder forward and backward. It also allows the arm to move in a circular motion, and to move up and away from the body.

Shoulders get their range of motion from the rotator cuff. The rotator cuff is made up of four tendons. Tendons are the tissues that connect muscles to bone. It may be painful or difficult to lift your arm over your head if the tendons or bones around the rotator cuff are damaged or swollen.
You can injure your shoulder by performing manual labor, playing sports, or even by repetitive movement. Certain diseases can bring about pain that travels to the shoulder. These include diseases of the cervical spine of the neck, as well as liver, heart, or gallbladder disease.
You're more likely to have problems with your shoulder as you grow older. It is especially common after age 60. This is because the soft tissues surrounding the shoulder tend to degenerate with age.
Most shoulder pain problems are:

  •   tendonitis/bursitis, injury or instability of the joint, or arthritic disease.
  •   rotator cuff syndrome is a strain or sprain or tear of the tendons that make up the rotator cuff.
  •   rarely, tumors, infections, and nerve damage cause shoulder pain.
  •   much neck pain is caused by soft tissue damage due to injuries such as whiplash or wear and tear due to overuse.
  •   damage to spine joints and bones, such as cervical disk degeneration, arthritis, or traumatic injury can cause severe pain and disability.
  •   fibromyalgia (whole body pain syndrome) can contribute to neck and upper back pain. Poor posture while performing everyday activities can also cause significant neck pain. Rarely, infections or tumors will cause neck pain.
  •   pinching a nerve in the neck or shoulder, or breaking a shoulder or arm bone, are also causes of pain.
  •   a frozen shoulder is when tendons, ligaments, and muscles stiffen and become difficult or impossible to move.
  •   a dislocated shoulder is when the ball of the humerus pulls out of the shoulder socket. An injury due to overuse or repetitive use can cause injury

dear rishabh. go for Vita D3 test. deficiency of calcium and weakness in the body causes legs and back pain. according to reports of d3. medicines can be taken. take calcium supplements. do leg muscle strengthening excercises or better to take physio treatment for few days.

I am having some shoulder pain, I am going gym from last 3 months. I hit hard weight last week that might be the reason behind it, please suggest some relief method.

From last few days when I wake up in morning my feet bottom pains. For few time I am not able to stand.

Foot exercises. Do the following exercises barefoot: •1. First write digits 1 to 10 using your toes raised up in the air. •2. Sit on a chair, raise your toes and curl them •3. Pick up a small piece of cloth off the floor using your toes. •4. Still in a sitting position, point your toes and circle your ankles in a slow counter and clockwise motion. •5. Stand up from the sitting position and go on tip toe for 5 seconds.

I have started running for last few days. My legs are paining very badly. Specially cough muscles below knees area. Why does this happen n hw can we cure it. Pain is too much.

You might be suffering from shin splints. After jogging or running (specially for beginners) the muscles and flesh along the edge of the shin bone become inflamed, so it hurts to walk, run, or jump. Jogging on hard surfaces can bring this on. You are more likely to get shin splints if you have flat feet or your feet turn outward. Some tips to deal with this condition : 1.Rest your legs, do not jog when in pain. 2. Ice pack application for 10 mins at least 4 times a day. 3. Anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen to be taken round the clock for 3 days. 4. Stretching and warm up to be done before jogging or running. 5. Gradual and step wise increase in physical activity. 6. Avoid running on hard surfaces. 7. Wear good quality running shoes. For further queries please consult again.

I advice you to stop shoulder exercises like weight lifting etc for some days. If you want to remain active, go for walk. No use of Overloading shoulder if you feel pain. Let your body heal by its own. Or if pain is unbearable or obstructing your daily activities better you go to physiotherapist or orthopaedic doctors for further investigation and treatment. Regards.

My dear, pain in leg is a postural defect. You need to correct your sitting posture while going for study. Sit on a table rather than to sit on bed. Try to move on for 15-20 mints while sitting on study table. Go for aerobic exercise, suitable for legs for 20 mints. Homoeo medicine @ arnica mont 200-6 pills, thrice a day. @ rhus tox 200-6 pills, thrice a day. Ensure, sound sleep for 6/7 hrs. Do not skip your meal, it should b on time regularly. Report after a wk, take, care.

I am 57 years old, 85 kg and 5'6. I can't stand on left toe and can stand only for few seconds on left foot. My achilles tendon feels weak. Left foot is by birth, physically thinner but I do not remember any accident or injury. Any solution to strengthen left leg, improve balance on left leg and remove limp.

Pain in heel cord & foot is a common condition rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Do hot fomentation keep a pillow under the legs at night &/when resting. Any way take take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do ankle/foot & toe exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Physiotherapy will help you. I was operated of testicle hernia when I was 14 years old on the right side. Now I'm 33. And I now feel that I still have hernia on both sides. Will that affect my sperm count? I'm very healthy and into sports. No pain. Do you advice to get myself operated before I get married or plan for a child?

Hernia as such do not directly affect sperm counts however a complicated hernia may cause torsion of the testes and cause damage. If you have swelling or pain in the groin or testes its better to get an evaluation done by a surgeon.

My father is suffering from the leg pain and he is having swelling on the left feet below knees from one month now he is not able to move properly. Before this he was taking BP medicines as per doctors prescription and he is also having gastric problem and his stomach is comes out very fast.
