Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. Changing the toothbrush alone donot keeps your teeth clean. All toothpaste have nearly similar ingredients like Abrasives, Fluorides, Surfactants, Antibacterial agents, Flavourants, Remineralizers, Fluoride, Diethylene glycol, Triclosan etc. Only the wrong brushing technique that we follow harms our teeth and gums. So consult your dentist, learn proper brushing technique, Brush your teeth twice a day, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush to protect your teeth and gums from plaque and calculus. Floss your teeth inter dentally once a day. Consume a healthy diet rich in vegetables and lean protein. Reduce your intake of sugary foods and beverages. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Drink plenty of fluoridated tap water. Drink not consume alcohol drinks. Don’t smoke.

I have three fully impacted wisdom teeth. But they are not infected. From last 6 months I have jaw, throat, ear, tongue & tooth pains. Meanwhile I suffered from throat infection which was due to Enterobacter clocae. I have also reactive lymphnodes in neck. Can impacted wisdom teeth cause all such symptoms?

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Hello lybrate-user, wisdom teeth do cause pain in and around teeth and this pain is often referred to jaw, throat and ear. If these wisdom teeth are always causing discomfort and aren't helpfull in biting or chewing food then I would suggest you to go for an intentional extraction of these teeth. I am sure you'll be much more comfortable after it.

Adenoids if causing trouble then are suppose to be removed before 10 yrs of age. Which u will be advised by ENT surgeon. And once u get operated u shud visit an orthodontist for correcting mouth breathing with simple removable appliances and then braces if required after 12 yrs of age.

Your pain should gradually be reducing on 6 th day post extraction. If not, then please see your Dr. Again. He will check for infection and dry socket. Continue with warm saline gargles. Ice application will not help. Wish you speedy recovery.

You are just 19 years old. I would suggest you to save your teeth and infact get a root canal treatment done for the same. Removal of teeth is not the only option.

First of all. Lets find the reason of bad breadth. So firstly visit a dentist and then do a scaling and polishing. Later learn correct brushing technique and flossing. So that you will be able to maintain a good oral hygiene by yourself. You can use any mouthwash which is available in market but once when you remove the bad breath then you will be able to get a good result of mouthwash. For any more query or treatment visit us

MY UPPER 2 TOOTH WERE REMOVED 2 YEARS BACK & PLACE IS EMPTY. WHAT IS THE BEST CURE & EXPENDITURE EXPECTED SIR?

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Don't keep that place empty because nearby teeth will start moving and will close the gap and you will face biting and jaw problem. U can go for dental bridge means artificial teeth unit. Its like cap only but requires support of two adjacent teeth. If u can afford implant is the best option for you that will cost you around 30k

Wisdom Teeth - Reasons Why You Should Get It Removed!

Wisdom Teeth - Reasons Why You Should Get It Removed!

The last molar teeth in the mouth are called as wisdom teeth. While in some people they erupt completely into the mouth and function with no problem whatsoever, in others, they remain embedded in the bone, erupt incompletely, erupt at an angle, or are covered by bone or a flap of tissue. They are absent in many.

Of late, dentists recommend removal of wisdom teeth, more a preventive than remedial measure. Some of the reasons for wisdom tooth removal are listed below

  1. Impaction: Often, wisdom teeth do not have enough space to erupt in their normal position. This can only be evaluated properly on an x-ray. If the x-ray shows that the tooth is unlikely to erupt because of being blocked by a root or bone, this needs to be removed.

  2. Pericoronitis: The tooth partially erupts into the mouth but is covered by a flap of gum. This attracts food and bacteria to accumulate, leading to decay and infection, a condition called as pericoronitis. Very common in the lower wisdom teeth, it leads to severe tooth pain, painful swallowing and swelling of the lymph nodes. This is the most common cause for wisdom teeth to be removed. An x-ray will reveal the tooth to be infected and sometimes periapical abscess may also be present.

  3. Cysts: Impacted teeth can develop fluid-filled cysts which can cause severe and even permanent damage to the jaw bone, adjacent teeth and nerves. Dentigerous cysts are the most common type.

  4. Alignment: Misaligned wisdom teeth exert a constant mild pressure on the adjacent teeth which can hamper the alignment and reverse the effects produced by braces. The bite may be altered also, thereby necessitating removal.

  5. Adjacent Tooth Damage: If the malposed wisdom tooth is causing pocket formation or decay in the adjacent teeth, it is time to get them removed.

  6. Recurrent Sinus Infections: With their proximity to sinuses, there could be constant pain and pressure and infection of the sinuses. This is another indication for their removal.

However, not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. If they have erupted fully, are healthy, produce a good bite, and can be cleaned easily, they do not require removal.

During the teenage years and through 20s, check with your dentist on the health of the wisdom teeth. X-rays can be taken to monitor them and for early identification of problems. If they need to be removed, it is easier to take them out when you're young. The bone surrounding the impacted tooth is less dense, and therefore easier. The ability of the body in general and the jaw bones in particular to heal is also better at a younger age.

My mom is having severe pain under the jaws. Is there any problem? what is the reason for that? thank you.
We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.
