You are very young to have these symptoms, so my advice to you will be to get a few investigations done form a good lab empty stomach and send me the test reports. Cbc, esr, crp, serum electrolytes, thyroid profile and serum vitamin d levels. This should actually help us find out whether there is any inflammatory cause of your issues. I am having back pain for the last 4 years now. The pain gets acute at times and it becomes very difficult to bear. What should I do?

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 1 wk, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

My right side leg joint pain alot while walking so give some suggestions how to reduce pain and hair loss.

- your question lacks when, how long and whats aggrevates your knee pain, your age as they all points affect correct diagnosis. - there could be deficiency of vit d, ca, increse level of uric acid, gastric problem. To maintain strength abd reduce pain do knee exercises called isometrics if quad (write name of knee exercise in utube to know procedure of exercise) - to reduce pain do contrast bath by dipping and squeezing one hand towel in hit water, apply to affected area, when it cools down immediately apply another hand towel in cold ice water repeat this for 10 - 15 min for 2- 3 times (specially at night)

Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

I got a ligament tear in my ankle around a year back. But it healed on its own. Now whenever I extend my ankle beyond a certain distance while playing it tears again. It had healed 3-4 times but it is not happening this time? What should I do?

if the ligament injury had been a complete tear then it wouldnt heal spontaneously and that would give rise to recurrent instability symptoms. if you have pain and a sense of giving way in the ankle then you would need a proper orthopaedic examination. you may be advised a course of physio or surgery depending on the examination findings and imaging results

Hi, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Swing 20 times morning and evenings. It is seen with meniscus tear. Get a mri scan of your knee at best centre with 3 tesla machine. That will show the pathology and then treatment can be advised.

I had a major fracture in my little finger of left hand and it's been 3 months since it was operated nd wires had been removed since 2 and half month only now I am not able to fold dat finger. What should I do? Do I need to get it reoperated? Or it can b cured by exercises only? If so can u please tell me about it?

Hi.It will be ok with exercise only but Don avoid in doing exercises otherwise it may become permanently. .In beginning there will be mild pain in bending but Don worry no pains no gsins

I am a woman of about 51 years, having diabetes treatment regularly. Once a year, when the season changes from winter to summer in the months of March-April, I get pain in the back followed by acute pain in the lower back side, abdomen, corner of thighs and neck. With time, the pain increases and becomes so acute that I couldn't even move out of my bed without any help. For relief, I take painkillers and hot fomentation regularly but the pain eases a little bit and then again increases. I also get constipation with backache, say I go to pass stools after two days often. It usually happened to me during my young age also but that time, pain remains for two- three days only and after taking lot of bed rest and fomentation, I am relieved. But not the condition is becoming worse day by day. After my periods are stopped in the beginning of 2014, the pain is critical. I regularly take shelcal and calcijoint (once a week) along with diabetes tablet. Kindly guide me what precautions to take and which tablets to continue so that the worse situation doesn't come in the next changing season. Thanks in advance!

It seem like beginning of Rheumatoid arthritis. Take enough water daily and regular exercise which will improve your situation. More sweat by exercise will ease and reduce the workload of kidney. Firstly avoid long sitting, standing tk rest and break between work. Do walk and spine extension exercise. Heat fermentation with rest time for 20 minutes. Tk muscle relaxant medicine and start stretching exercise in daily routine.
