Do proper rest & do hot fomentation for 15-20 min thrice in a day. This will help in reducing the pain. If still pain continues then consult a physiotherapist & learn strengthening exercises.

Now I am 68, in 2013 may-2nd., due to blocks in the blood running to brain. Now health wise, I am comfort but my left shoulder joints giving some problems by not allowing lift up & while bath - hand not allowing to my back for cleaning and giving discomforts for washing after tools. I am doing some exercises as per my Dr's advise with the help of an Physiotherapist for the past 6 months. But no improvement.

This can be due to 2 reasons. Blocks in your brain causing paralysis of the muscles. Other reason can be due to a muscle tear which causes inability to lift your shoulder. Did you injure your shoulder anytime in the past?

I am 41 years of age. I have pain in whole body almost. For quite sometime now. It pains in the neck, shoulder, arms, back, waist and also in the arm and leg joints, elbows, knees, ankles etc. Also feel headache at times. Can't sit straight for long as back pain starts and even can't keep knees folded and sit for long as it starts paining. I am also having tremendous weakness as if I will fall done at time. Feel shortness of breath sometimes and chest discomfort as well. I cant walk much faster and long as feel tired and distressed. I have done several diagnosis related to heart and shown cardio but as per doctor I don't have any cardiac problems. I am also going through tough time professionally and financially for last few months now. I am too worried about my health and can not concentrate on anything else due to this. Please help me to get fit and healthy.

As you mentioned your age, please provide the details or nature of work you do. If the body pain and shortness of breath is chronic and if you have tried medicines before then you can surely go for the ayurvedic medicines and panchakarma therapy. Hi take rest keep ankle elevated apply cold pack for 20 minutes/thrice a day apply compression bandage. Do ankle toe movement. Take ultrasound therapy at physiotherapy clinic. Still pain doesn't go get it xray done and consult me via lybrate.

Backache is a common ailment. Rule out diabetes & vit.D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. Any way take IBUPROFEN 200mg OD & SOS x 5days CALDIKIND PLUS (mankind) 1 tab ODx10days You will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take Do ask for detailed treatment plan..Don’t ignore, lest it becomes starting point of a major problem

I fell from a chair 5 days back and fractured my right elbow. The doctor diagnosed it as a radial head fracture with minimal displacement. One doc suggested that I do a surgery and put a screw. I saw another doc more experienced and he said surgery is not required and it can do more damage than help. He put me inside a full arm cast and asked me to wear it for 3 weeks. I wanted to know where the recovery will be faster, with or without surgery. If I have to wear this cast for 3 weeks, will it take much longer to get full ROM of wrist and elbow. Also while I am wearing the cast can I move my shoulders up and down. Can I flex my hand muscles. Anything else I can do that will help me recover faster. I am a software guy so need to work a lot on the computer so quick recovery is essential for me. Thanks

Dear Lybrate user Fracture is a break in the surface of bone either through its cortex or articular surface. When a bone breaks it is bound to injure the surrounding soft tissue like muscle and ligaments, etc. Treatment depends upon severity, displacement, type of fracture, etc. As you told it's minimum displaced or undisplaced fracture need only cuff and collar sling. Firstly Immobilisation phase. In which immobilise the joint or limb atleast three weeks to promote proper healing. Its important phase once bone heal properly then no worries. You can bend or extend your fingers too. After that second phase comes that is Mobilisation phase. Now joint or bone become able to move through proper exercises. Exercises will increase blood circulation and pain stiffness relief and provide strength to muscle. For good results exercises should be undersupervision of qualified physiotherapist.

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

There are several things you can do to prevent a cold?they are all easy and inexpensive and worth the effort. Wash your hands often-with soap and warm water.The germs stick to the soap and get washed down the drain. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. Cover Your Mouth and Nose When You Sneeze or Cough- Clean your hands every time you cough or sneeze. Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose, or Mouth-Germs are often spread when a person touches a contaminated surface and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth. Stay Home When You?re Sick-Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, don?t smoke, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food so you can fend off viruses. Take healthy balanced diet...like boiled eggs.daily in breakfast .. Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. Routinely clean and disinfect common areas of your home. Treatment:There is a gradual 1-3 day onset of symptoms. It often starts out as a sore throat, then a fever and coughing. As the cold progresses, the nasal mucus may thicken which is the last stage before the cold dries up. A cold usually lasts for a week or two. But, taking good care of yourself at home can relieve symptoms and help prevent complications if you are otherwise healthy. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn?t need medical treatment. Complications include bacterial infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs which must be treated with antibiotics. In general you should: ? get plenty of rest so your body can use its energy to fight the cold ? staying at home will keep you from spreading germs ? drink plenty of liquids like herbal tea or hot broth/vegetable/tomato soups. Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can keep you from getting enough sleep Runny Nose and Sneezing- if you have post nasal drip, gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. Drink extra fluids. (avoid sugary and high calorie drinks) Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation ? Tablet Nasorest-P once/twice daily may reduce the amount of mucous. ? Humidify the rooms you are in most or your whole house if possible. ? Do steam inhalation once or twice daily Cough-Coughing is how your body gets rid of debris and mucus from the airways during a viral infection. Unless your cough is severe or is keeping you from resting at night, it is better not to treat it. A severe cough can be treated with a cough syp, but don?t try to completely stop the cough. There are two types of coughs. Productive and non-productive or dry cough. Non-productive, dry cough. A dry, hacking cough may develop near the end of a cold. Dry coughs that follow viral colds are often worse at night and can last up to several weeks. Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough. Cough drops can sooth an irritated throat, but most don?t affect the cough. Productive cough. A productive cough is one that brings up mucus from the back of the throat or the lungs. Productive coughs should not be suppressed to the point they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. Drink lots of water if you have a productive cough. Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily

1.Do steam inhalation by steam inhaler 2-3 times daily with Karvol plus inhalant capsule. 2.Put otrivin nasal drop 1 drop thrice daily. 3.Take one tablet of Levocetrizine(5mg) at bed time. 4. If you have recurrent attack of cold you may be having sinusitis/allergic rhinitis 5. consult ENT specialist for sinusitis

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.
