Tie a cup of uncooked rice inside a cloth and heat it for 30 to 60 seconds on the microwave in low setting. Then keep this on the back for relief. Take fresh ginger into pieces, place in the cup of water and boil it for 30 minutes in low flame. Cool for 30 minutes after boiling. Consume this solution with honey. Take a plastic bag with few crushed ice cubes and place it on the painful area.

I have pain in my right leg. Sometimes I can not put my weight on my right leg. Its very painful and I can not even move my leg if I stand or sit for long time. Is this cause of sciatica nerve pain. please suggest some remedy.

It might be sciatica. But sciatica is due to many causes like neuritis, lumbar disc diseases, obesity, injury, etc. You need to rule out the cause and then go for medication.

Measure your temperature and tell me reading Avoid exertion Take tablet paracetamol 500 mg after food (If No Drug Allergy) as and when required for fever more than 99 f (maximum 3 tablets with gap of 8 hr can be taken in a day) for 3 days Take proper diet homemade food like moong dal dalia, chapati etc Get CBC checked and review with reports

Male 47 years 79-80 kgs on regular morning walk and exercises fr one hr but whenever I climb steps there r crack crack sounds in my right knee. Aftr meeting orthopaedician, I took tendowell tablet twice fr two months but nothing improved. Pl advice.

Don't worry about the sound. Do with your regular exercises. And start with quadriceps strengthening exercises. Hope this helps you.

Shoulder Dislocation - Know The Causes Behind It

A shoulder dislocation occurs when the bones of the upper arm snap out of your shoulder blade, generally after suffering a major injury. The joints of the shoulder are the most flexible body joints, thereby, making them more prone to dislocation. In most of the cases, a dislocated shoulder can be fixed within a few weeks’ time with the help of proper diagnosis. There is a high chance of suffering from dislocations over and over again. A dislocated shoulder, if not treated immediately, can lead to further complications such as damage to the blood vessels and nerve around the affected area or tearing of the associated muscles or ligaments.

What can cause a shoulder dislocation?

You can experience a dislocation in your shoulder joints due to the following reasons:

  1. Shoulder dislocation can occur if you play any kind of contact sports such as football or hockey and get injured while playing.
  2. You are more susceptible to a dislocated shoulder if the sports or physical activities you engage in regularly involve the risk of suffering from falls such as gymnastics or volleyball.
  3. A dislocated shoulder is a common occurrence if you have suffered a major motor vehicle accident that might have affected your shoulder.
  4. You can also suffer from a dislocated shoulder if you have survived a fall in the recent past such as tripping from a ladder or similar injuries.

Symptoms of a dislocated shoulder

You are suffering from a dislocated shoulder if you exhibit the following signs and symptoms:

  1. Abnormal enlargement of the affected area or bruising Severe pain around the shoulder area due to a recurrent muscle spasm in the shoulder joints
  2. Extreme pain while moving the joint
  3. A sense of numbness or a tingling sensation near the affected area, for example, in areas around the neck or the arm
  4. Visibly deformed shoulder joints
  5. Depending upon the intensity of the pain, the doctor might implement a general manoeuvre procedure to relocate your shoulder bones.

After the procedure is conducted, you will feel your pain significantly reducing. Your doctor can also recommend you to wear a sling around your shoulder area to regulate the movement of the shoulder joints for the first few days to about 3 weeks, depending upon the intensity of the pain.

Treatment for shoulder dislocation

The treatment for shoulder dislocation depends on the severity of the injury. The following treatments can be implemented with suggestion from the doctors:

  1. If its first episode of shoulder dislocation, usually closed reduction followed by rehabilitation is sufficient.
  2. In case when patient is younger than 20 years or in cases with bony injury, surgery is recommended.
  3. If you had recurrent instances of dislocated shoulders, your doctor might suggest a surgery.
  4. Recurrent dislocations cause more and more damage to glenoid part of scapula and humeral head.

Type of surgery required changes from simple surgery to more difficult surgery with number of dislocations. In cases of simple capsulo-labral damage, capsulolabral repair is sufficient. In cases with loss of bone from humeral head (Hillsachs Lesion), Remplissage surgery is required additionally. When glenoid bone also is deficient of bone, bony reconstruction of glenoid becomes necessary. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Orthopedist.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

• Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily • . Avoid bending in front. • Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. • Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times.
