Passive physical therapy (modalities), which includes things done to the patient, such as heat application, ice packs and electrical stimulation. For example, a heating pad may be applied to warm up the muscles prior to doing exercising and stretching, and an ice pack may be used afterward to sooth the muscles and soft tissuesctive physical therapy, which focuses on specific exercises and stretching. For most low back pain treatments, active exercise is the focus of the physical therapy programDepending upon the patient's specific diagnosis and level of pain, the back pain exercises andrehabilitation programs will be very different, so it is important for patients to see a spine specialist trained to develop an individualized program of back exercises and to provide instruction on using the correct form and techniqu. Most of us will suffer from back or neck pain at some stage during our lives. The good news is, however, in most cases the pain is not serious in nature and can be remedied. Postural related back pain generally stems from sitting for long periods with overloaded or tight back and pelvic muscles. For example, if your rear thigh muscles (hamstrings) are tight, when you sit they will pull the pelvis out of position and increase tension on the lower back muscles. This in turn overstretches your back muscles and with lengthy periods of sitting will cause pain. This is one example of many variations of postural related back pain. However, one thing will be in common, progressively developing back pain from long periods of overstretched and overloaded back muscles and ligaments. When you first start to develop postural back pain it manifests itself as a low grade ache which tends to be relieved with light exercise or avoiding sitting. But after a while the pain increases and tends to be there most of the time regardless of what you do. It should be noted that a small percentage of back pain is caused by more serious conditions like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression. Symptoms that suggest a more serious back problem are leg pains, pins and needles or weakness in your leg or foot. These symptoms need to be properly assessed by a Chartered Physiotherapist.

Total knee replacement surgery is, safe if done by specialist in a properly equipped center. Nova specialty hospital is one such hospital in delhi I am associated with. Apollo hospital has taken over it. The risk of surgery is no more than the risk of crossing road. Any way, sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do knee exercises. It will have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

Congratulations for your baby girl first. 1.1st avoid any kind of painkillers 2. Ask you guynic doc for teaching proper placement of the body on bed 3. Frequently change your position on bed 4. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Please check: 1) HbA1c 2) Serum insulin level (both fasting and PP) 3) OGTT (5samples) Above test will tell you whether you are diabetic or pre diabetic or normal. Slow healing may be due to either diabetes or any other causes which lower immunity.

Hello. We can't reverse the established pathology back, but we can control the process in the stage it is so that it wouldn't grow further. Apply Bakson’s Rheum Aid oil gently (2-3 times a day) and take orally Bakson’s Rheum-Aid syrup/ 1 tablespoon thrice daily. Also, increase your dietary intake of calcium which is present in green leafy vegetables, milk, milk products, sea food, white legumes, dried fig, black-eyed peas, almonds, oranges, seasame seeds. And vitamin D which is essential for absorption of calcium in our body and is synthesized naturally after getting exposed to sunlight, so early morning sunlight for 10-15min. 2-3 times a day is mandatory. Apart from this, do walk daily along with physiotherapy will also help you.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There can be many reasons for pain in your hand region. It can be due to inflammation of tendons which we call as tendinitis, it can also be due to entrapment of a nerve, pain radiating from the spine, swelling like ganglion leading to pain, inflammatory or any infectious cause etc. So you will have to elaborate your complaints in detail, send me a clinical pic and relevant investigations so that I can see and advise you accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation. Thanks & regards

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. I suggest you to get few investigations done: cbc, esr, crp, serum electrolytes, serum vitamin d levels. Also do you feel stiffness when you get up in mornings? what is the level of physical activity like exercises, morning walks do you indulge in? also are you suffering from any chronic ailment for which you take or have previously take long term treatment? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

My wife 33 yrs old, gets tired/exhausted very easily. Apart from that, she suffers from pain in the legs, head ache and back pain too very frequently. Her weight has increased sharply in last couple of years. She has been diagnosed with low vitamin d and tsh value at 6. 1 are these related? what else could be the reason for these problems and how can we resolve them?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. She is young with multiple issues. She needs to get in an active lifestyle. - regular physical therapy initially in supervision of a physiotherapist - brisk walks for 2-3 km/day in morning - adequate supplementation for calcium and vitamin d - get her cbc, esr, crp and serum electrolyte levels to see whether there is any deficiency, it can be supplemented - thyroid status should be in check and I ask for consultation with a general physician for it.
