Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There could be multiple reasons for back pain, it can be issues with back muscles, disc, facet joints, spinal canal itself etc. But if there is only localized pain which is mild to moderate in intensity, with no radiation of pain, no neurological symptoms, and no other symptoms like fever, weight loss, loss of appetite, night sweats etc, initially you can start with: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc in case you are having back pain. Let me know in 2-3 weeks time how you are feeling so that we can discuss further and take your case ahead. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

This is quite a common condition Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take caldikind plus (mankind)1tab odx10days paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5 days do back (spine) exercises Contact me again if need be. Below thumb pain is called De Quervain's disease. It is a painful inflammation of tendons in the thumb that extend to the wrist. It can happen because of overuse, a direct blow to the thumb, repetitive grasping, and certain inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Gardening, racquet sports, and some workplace tasks may make it worse. Consult a Physiotherapist who will likely recommend that you wear a splint 24 hours a day for 4 to 6 weeks to hold the affected area firm and still. You'll also need to stop doing anything that worsens the condition. You can ice the area to reduce inflammation. If these treatments don’t help, your doctor may recommend surgery.

This may be a radiating pain from your back (lumbar spine) you should do lumbar spine exercise and take tab multivitamin t vit d t calcium for 1 month.

My wife often complains pain in her elbows and knee joints. I had her ASO test done and the result was 1050 IU/ml. She is 28. Her parents and one of her sibling have history of joint pain, rheumatism. My wife has not taken any kind of medication or therapy regarding this in her life. Please help.

Please dont treat her for rheumatic heart disease. Aso is a misused test and patients are treated long term for no reasons. If she has pain and swelling in the elbow and knee joints, I would suggest you visit a rheumatologist and get it sorted out. Dont go on pencillin.

Arthritis is swelling of joints with pain , stiffness . There are some methods you can apply : • Do exercise such as walking that strength your muscles and move your joint .From movement of joint you got relief from pain and stiffness. •Gentle massage your joints with lukewarm oil. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - some blood tests like serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp help in better diagnosis of such condition. Also can you kindly send me the details of the surgery done on her so that I can see and then advise you accordingly.

Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Hello, send me your all investigation reports if available. Till then follow these advice:- 1. Take calcium supplements and sun bath daily to prevent further damage to your bones. 2- avoid heavy lifting. 3- avoid squatting and weight bearing activities. 4- use western toilet. 5- wear shock absorbing, good quality of shoes while walking. 6. Keep roll of a towel under your knees while sleeping. 7. Perform some gentle exercises and stretching before getting out of your bed. 8. Walk straight with shoulder protracted.
